I like a good church sign, one that clearly states your times. I don't think the saying has much to do with it. but it needs to be seen. plywood and paint won't cut it. because it looks like a yard sale.

I see many cute church signs but they are cute and that's about it. Does not affect me one way or another. Does not have anything to do with the type of church it is. Loving, worshipping church, friendly congregation. That is what is important. It does not say anything about the pastor either. My church just got a new sign. Its nice and makes the church look more like a church from the outside. That's it.

The name of a church or church sign can add to the curiousity of those outside of the church for sure, but more important is what takes place inside of the church, (ie, the sincerity of the praise and worship.) Also, in the same way, a sign could help keep people away, depending on what it would say.

I like funny ones, but that may not be the best.

I think the best is when a church sign simply quotes scripture.

SOme of the most rememberable signs I have seen hasn't been the message but the name of the church itself. I've seen Broadway Baptist Church! (Broad is the path that leadeth to destruction.) Corinthians Church of God. (The church at Corinth was full of carnality.) and Midway Presbyterian. (I guess they couldn't decide which side of the fence to be on! I just found these somewhat humerous and thought I would share. Has anyone else seen interesting church names? God Bless.

I have to say no sign would draw me into a church unless it said, "All are welcomed." However, I saw 2 signs that I have never forgotten. 1) Have you tormented the devil today? and 2) What can Mohammed do for you? (sort of like the UPS commercial, what can Brown do for you? NADA!!! Nothing except Jesus and Him alone can heal, strengthen, uplift, encourage, comfort, bring you joy, fill you with peace and give you life and life abundantly.

The Son Also Rises, Keep Christ in Christmas, Jesus is Just a Prayer Away, Join Us in Praising God, now I have seen many signs, I look for them. I think that they are welcoming people into the church and trying to let people know they care.

I saw one last which read,"Without Christ in Christmas makes it hollow days".
Another I like is, "Life is a test & there is no cheating, however it is open book".
"Will the road you're on get you to my place? signed God"

I do find that I read church sayings as I go about my life. I like the tried and true scripture ones but I also like the funny different ones or the heart tuggers.

Here are two I especially liked: Don't fear tomorrow, God is already there. (Now that made me really think).
Knowing the Bible is one thing, knowing the author is another.

I must say that I pay attention to church signs, just to see what the message is. One in particular caught my eye and I hope it caught the eye of the young people in that community, it reads: "Don't Let Jesus Catch You Riding Dirty", I feel it was a good message. To ride dirty means carring and consuming drugs;but it also can make one think of the condition of the heart. Riding Dirty is a popular rap song among the young folk, I feel the sign will be effective.

"An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a SIGN. OK just kidding

God bless bros./sisters. I honestly am embarrased how churches around the world rely on stupid signs/slogans/emblems to reach or attract unbelievers. Several Pastors here in Nort America have brushed aside the anointing, power, and sheer GLORY of the Holy Spirit in order to impact our nations. Jesus only talked about one type of 'signs'...he said THESE SIGNS SHALL FOLLOW those that go in my name... miracles!

...As a yourth 'pastor' I can tell you guys that the youth in our countries are tired of being lied to, drug addicts are tired of being lied to, men and women are tired of a powerless gospel... people need the healing touch of Jesus (in all aspects emotionally and physically)! The problem is that too many pastors are busy trying to get people financially blessed (including themselves) but have no idea on how to cast out the demons they walked into their congragations with...

...If your church (this goes for everybody) has the GLORY of the Lord inside (meaning in their members), there won't be much advertising needed- the Holy Ghost will TESTIFY, "ADVERTISE", "PROMOTE" Jesus Christ all by himself. People will come and when they have a life changing experiece others will notice and want the same. God bless.

God can heal your "Achy Breaky Heart". That was during the time that Country Western song was popular.

I saw one a couple of years ago that I thought was really clever... and funny.

The sign said:

FREE TRIP TO HEAVEN....

details inside.
---tofurabby on 12/6/06

Many of them have been pretty tacky.

My least favorite said, "Don't make Me come down there.--God."

The whole point of Christianity is that God DID come down. Jesus is God Incarnate!

And guess what? He's coming down again! (AFTER the Tribulation.)

I think church signs are great for church growth if used properly. The sign needs to be very visible from the street. So many of the signs can't be seen well. Our well placed sign gets us new visitors each week.

The one I like is "His banner over me is love".
---Helen_5378 on 12/5/06

A few years ago I saw a church sign that simply said "smoking or non-smoking?".
---Kay on 12/4/06

I like the simple ones such as the format of: CHURCH. HERE. OFTEN. LIMITED SEATING. ROOM FOR YOU (and you and you and you).
