Mentally Sick And Demons

The mentally ill often use religion to hide behind or as a crutch. When demons are the focus or (symptom of their illness), how should we help them? When someone refuses medical treatment and believes religious zeal will cure them?

No, we have the force of Satan. An unrighteous judge, will just look stupid while God's name is being ran through the mud. We are gonna wish, because God is our Creator and Owner of everything, we are gonna wish, that we as a nation not to mention this world, we are gonna wish, because God is a good God and a just one, that we had included Him into all of our lives. Amen....And how are you doing on this here day Thursday, Cuny?
---catherine on 8/26/10

\\that is when a woman or a man stand before a judge, and proclaims that God told me to kill my six kids. Or a man rapes young children under the name of God.\\

Any intrinsic difference between this and your quoting what the deceiving religious spirit you claim is "god" told you?

In any case, the Bible, believe it or not, does not have the force of law in the USA.
---Cluny on 8/26/10

It is obvious when a person who has truly been saved asks God for healing and pray in faith. This differs from a mentally ill person who through whatever cause is not healed and speaks without the soundness of mind concerning their help.

I have watched a real live exorcism on TV where a man was delivered of his oppressed life, you knew he was saved because the evidence of his torment was off his face and he was able to call on Jesus's name and his testimony showed he had gone through something he could not explain.

His eyes although still dark you could see and feel the difference in his face and voice, to how he behaved prior to prayer.

WE NEED SOME RIGHTEOUS JUDGES, that is when a woman or a man stand before a judge, and proclaims that God told me to kill my six kids. Or a man rapes young children under the name of God. Well, we need some judges who is bold enough to pick the Bible up and quoting Scriptures all the way out the door as these sinners are marched out the door. Quoting Scriptures all the time. Man, I would love to sit in a court such as that. I would be quite, but, oh, so very thankful. I might shed a tear, I don't know! Oh, how should we help them? I just told you. RIGHTEOUS JUDGES. Hallelujah.

There is, i do believe, such thing s a mental illness such as Depression, Phsycosis, and Schitzophrenia however, just because science tells us that this is what it is, we believe it. i have never been told, if you are having fits, speaking tongues or hallucinating absolutly , that you must have a mental condition, nor have i been told that you must be possesed by demonic phemonena. i think many of you people are misunderstanding Marcia's post as she is curious and asking questions (notice the use of ?) but here is my question to you. If you belive in the Holy spirit, or whatever have you, how can you say you do not believe in "evil"? The spiritual world is much more real than the world we know to be reality.
---Natalya on 8/23/10

I have read these posts. I have a daughter who sufferes from several mental issues. It is not as easy as some make it sound
---Joyce on 3/29/09

Marcia, you have told too many falsehoods for me to believe a word you say.
All of your personalities deny being anything but the alter ego you use at the moment. I'm Chipper, I've never been anyone but Chipper. But old Chip takes a breather, as well as the rest of your egos, when bratty young Marcia is at the pulpit.

Also I am not a Preacher or a Prophet. People on here are accusing me of being a preacher or a prophet. I suppost that's a good thing and should be taken as a compliment. However I have been very open about who I am. I have never said that I was a prophet and I have never said that I was a preacher. These are all assumptions made by others on here.
---Marcia on 8/17/07

Dale>>>

Also, I don't have a degree in theology. I guess I should probably take this as a compliment too. I must some how appear to be very knowledgeable or something. I am just a lay person in the church. The most I have ever done in the Church is Pray!!!

Thanks for showing me the Love of Christ.
---Marcia on 8/17/07

Robin Marcia Andrea Kathr - it is weird, I'll grant you that.
---Larry on 8/17/07

Dale>>>

I am sorry, you misunderstood my post. No offense taken. I am getting used to it by now. It does not bother me as much. Guess I'm getting a thicker skin.
---Marcia on 8/17/07

Dale>>>Anyways,

On New Years every year the Church has a teen Lock-In. Sorta like a Revival Night, but we call it a Lock-In because we bring in the New Year in the Church. We stay all night Worshipping and Praising God with Contemporary Christian Music (Sonic Flood, "Darlene Check", Barlow Girl, and so forth).

You should differentiate between mentally ill and psychotic. Not all mentally ill people are psychotic. I work in a psychiatric ward and 90% of the mentally ill there are depressed and suicidal. Other's with Bipolar or schizophrenia may need a medication adjustment. Very few are psychotic (out of touch with reality).

Marcia, you've been everything from a preacher to a prophet to a child to a man.
You need a lockin, you need a deliverance.
Your degree in theology is not helping you any. You need to be delivered. You mock modern medicine, so find someone who knows the Great Physician and get your real self back into your body.

Madison and Carla,I care for a woman, my aunt who has been mentally ill for over 30 years..had to even give up her daughter at 5 yrs old....She attends church and prays..I try and get her to pray more...and listen to Christian radio too. She is saved...and at this time in her life, she is the best she has ever been.Through our kindness and care we can help deliver people from spirits of infirmities!don't discriminate against those who are suffering from illnesses. Pray for them and pray with them.

If they are demon possessed the best thing to do is Fast and Pray. I have witnessed a person being released from the possession of a demonic Spirit at a Lock In. I don't think we should limit the power of God's presence in a church either.

I sat and supported a friend while she took on several police social workers and Dr's basically showing them medically exactly what they had done to her When you watch paramedics, two Dr's and social walkers walk out of her house without a peep. You know it WAS GOD As for your claim about bipolar thank for the information you're preaching to the converted A close friend of mine passed away recently with the same disorder please try not to put words in my mouth professionalism is nothing without GOD.

CARLA: "people who become mentally ill do not have their minds on God and his word,"

That has to be one of the most ignorant statements I have read in a long time. I know plenty of mentally ill people who love the Lord and read His Word regularly. Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder have nothing to do with a person's relationship with God.
---Madison1101 on 5/23/07

Hiding behind religion, is a big problem in this vast world. It gives God a bad reputation, and red on me. There is only one cure against demons and no pills or humans can help. Jesus Christ can help. Since humans does not have the power to distroy Satan we have to depend on God. I suppose the only thing for an unbeliever who is suffering from demons is to depend on pills and other humans. Thank God I do not have to. I am sure in the eyes of this world I will soon be considered the biggest nut around.
---catherine on 5/23/07

people who become mentally ill do not have their minds on God and his word,Why even David asks God to keep his mind, I have been around mentally ill people, It is nearly always relationship breakdown or sickness/rape for the major of these breakdowns not forgetting drugs/prescribed/illegal. I say it is the devil at work regardless of what some believe, you either have good or evil, there is no in between.
---Carla5754 on 5/23/07

Observer, Trish, multiple personality disorder is very rare. What is it that would motivate someone to adopt several belief systems to see their name up in lights? They spend 8-10 hours aday at this activity. What would you call that?

Here we are talking about demonic forces as the problem and the question is what can you do medically?

I think you need to believe in what you don't see for a change; find God in Jesus Christ and pray for her, that's my prescription. Only faith in a risen Christ can beat back the assault on the gate.
---Pharisee on 5/10/07

A person cannot be deemed Mentally Delusion by their belief alone. Many people today have been martyred by Satan and his drug empire. Jesus talks about the 99 sheep. I know for a fact that people were baptised in the spirit in 1999 - 2000. The crown is of the martyrs not the ones who did the martrying.
---Tonne_Miessek on 12/20/06

When someone refuses help for their illness, they like the state of mind, their in. Or maybe they just don't have faith that they can be cured with medicine or with help from God. It depends on the person and what illness they have.
---Rebecca_D on 12/13/06

Dale; I do not know the answer to your question. Certainly society must protect itself and in the case of mentally insane the insane must be protected from themselves. My statement about the blood has to do with the method which we can use to combat mental illness or insanity. Continued

Part 2 Should a person feel that they are having mental problems may I suggest that they begin to talk about the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. On the other hand if you know someone who is mentally impaired speak to them about the precious Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. His blood shed on the cross of Calvary for us is an effective tool it we will but use it, the way to use it is to pray about it, with it, incorporating it in your prayers..

**People refusing help usually just like the attention they're getting.**

Not true in my experience, though there ARE those who live on the emotional energy (for lack of a better term) of others.

Some might honestly feel that there is no help--but this is usually the depression talking. It's not for nothing that depression is SOMETIMES a cognitive distortion.
---Jack on 12/10/06

Mima, where's the line for severe mental illness/criminally insane; medical treatment or enough religious zeal for release into the community.
---Dale on 12/9/06

In the first 13 answers to this post I could not find any mention about the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. The blood of Jesus Christ is available for believers to have faith in, place our trust in, to speak about and asked the Father to use against the demonic forces in the world. I invite you to use this knowledge.

** I don't think "Pigs in the Parlor" would have helped Andrea Yates. Satan told her to drown the children.**

Clinical depression and post-partum depression are REAL physical illnesses. Andrea Yates was BEGGING for help and nobody took her seriously until too late after this horrible tragedy.
---Jack on 12/7/06

Well, I'm a Christian that at once thought I was demonized, heard noices, voices, barking, you name it. I sought medical attention and started working a Christian program of recovery and spirituality and I'm fine now. God does cast out ALL demons and heal the ill, if you believe. Demons or delusions, both are usually conjured up by living of lies, when you turn to God, illnesses and demons lose their control. People refusing help usually just like the attention they're getting.
---timothy_bevil on 12/7/06

Dale, maybe is she was aware of how satan and his co-horts operate, she wouldn't have listened to his voice. Did she say it was satan who told her to do it? Pigs in the Parlor is a book on deliverance, getting free, don't you think "my people perish for lack of knowledge?" If she could have recognized it was the devil telling her to kill her kids, maybe she might have told someone and gotten help and NOT listened to that voice if she knew who's it was.
---Donna9759 on 12/7/06

Pray at all times in the Spirit for them. Also, give them a copy of the book, "Pigs in the Parlor." Jesus tells us "whatever we bind on earth shall be bound in heaven." So you have authority to bind up demons in people. They must want to be free in order for you to cast them out, most just bind demons up if they even do that. Tell them to fill themselves up with the words of Jesus, "I am the bread of life." I have come to give you life and life abundantly.
---Donna9759 on 12/7/06

You need to be careful because sometimes the mentally ill are actually demonized. You hear about so many people who killed themselves after telling friends and family that they were seeing people and hearing voices. For many it is real demonic oppression and the psychiatric world keeps them from finding the knowledge of the truth. God help them. How can you tell if a person is truly mentally ill or demonized? I have no idea.
---Matthew on 12/6/06

II) As far as refusing treatment. That is different. When I was once and believed I was demonized I at least gave medical treatment a shot. Not to say that a person who is demonized wouldn't.
Try asking the person to try treatment for about three months and if it doesn't work he can stop. If you are Christian please pray for God to reveal to you the right path for a person to take.
---Matthew on 12/6/06

A demonically oppressed person(not posssessed) normally has certain "signs" to tell if they are not really sick.
1) They appear very rational. They will even abstain from speaking of their problem to others(demons) because they know it sounds crazy to non-believers.
2) They can appear normal and do things normally.
3) It seems as if they just stopped believing in demons they would be normal again.
---Matthew on 12/6/06

II) Demon possessed people
1) Will not read the Bible and will go crazy if you read the word to them.
2) May curse always and without regret.
Will also blaspheme Jesus's name openly.
3) They may seem to have esoteric knowledge and tell you things they shouldn't know.
4) Supernatural things may happen around them, Things moving, apparitions, levitations.
Well thats about it i guess. Don't take my word for it. Just look up on a search engine about demonic oppression and possession.
---Matthew on 12/6/06

greetings.the question is, where did the person get the idea that demons were the cause of it?Who put it in the mind of man that the demons should get the credit for man's illnesses?Once upon a time this could be said as true but today man is able to deploy techniques to examine a persons mental condition.Astrology is now astronomy,a medicine man is now a medical specialist and a demon posessed is now a mentally ill.Does Satan get credit he does not have a part in?
---earl on 12/6/06

This sort of thing is impossible to discern second or third hand.

There are a lot of depressed Christians who have fallen for the lie, "Real Christians don't get depressed; they have Jesus," which totally ignores the fact that clincial depression is a PHYSICAL illness. They live lives of needless misery caused by the condemnation and shallowness of others.
---Jack on 12/6/06

Unfortunately, many of the mentally ill are told by well meaning Christians that they just have to have more faith to get healed. We must pray for the Truth of God's Word to penetrate their minds, and allow them the freedom to seek professional help from the right psychiatrists and therapists.
