By definition: God is Love. Man's emotions of feeling love are based on various mental and emotional impulses, but they often change with the hormones or the circumstances. God's love never changes.

Love is a mind focused on thoughts that inspire, motivate and incline us toward a tendency to do or say that which is uplifting, edifying, & beneficial, to for or toward our fellow man without dissimulation, or expectation.

God is Love - the Bible says. Also read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 to see what love is.

Didn't Jesus say he who keeps his commandments loves Him?
As Jack said...First Corinthians 13 is one to know.
There is a song...Love Is Something You Do. (for others)

"I might point out that love is not a feeling.
Otherwise, traditional marriage vows would not include the promise to love the other person.
We can choose to love, but we cannot choose how we feel."

Jack, you're so wise. :)

"My definition of Real love is to give of yourself unstintingly not asking for a return channel but hoping that the same will come back to you like an echo. With a similar message "I'll love YOU always"Its a vow of commitment."

Emcee, good answer! :)

"Godly Love is an act of the will, not an emotion."

Kathr, so true. How else are we able to love our enemies, right?

God. God is love. Love is patient, love is kind, love is long-suffering, love is not provoked to jealousy. God is Love.

Godly Love is an act of the will, not an emotion. Agape Love is supernatural Love, and the fruit of the Spirit. Humans are incapable of this kind of love. Only Christ in you can produce Agape love. It's unconditional Love and totally goes against our human nature.

You know what I always found funny about love and should prove that love is spiritual and not an emotion? It is that you can't make love from drugs. We have drugs that can make all kinds of emotions in a person happiness, sadness, laughter, etc. Yet there is no medical drug that can make a person love or even have faith. God bless.
---Matthew on 12/10/06

I know the blblical meaning of what God tells us what love is. I beleieve the human meaning is--when you love someone more than you love yourself unconditionally.
