I have served Thanksgiving dinner at Joy Junction (a local homeless shelter), and My car club (Holy Rollerz Christian Car Club) and I have done a charity car show to raise money, food, and toys for Joy Junction. We ended up with five car loads of toys and food, and raised over $1500 for them. I also have gone to Mexico to build houses for the poor.

The Holy Spirit has guided us to help many individuals. We flew two or three Israel refugees to Israel.
We have given personal help to widows, people who lost their homes, hungry children, etc. One day I was driving and saw a young man walking and the Holy Spirit impressed me to stop and speak to him. Come to find out he was a stranger, was bleeding from a fight, had no food, etc. We helped him get in touch with an aunt he could go to. We believe it is more blessed to give than to recieve.

I visited with a lady recently that has devoted her entire life to charity and community service. Her complaint is about the younger generation refusing to make time for community service. However, this lady is very wealthy. She thinks the younger generations are selfish. If you don't need to work for a living, I think it's easier to make those judgments. For the wealthy, charity work is their job. A good one, but sometimes it's another club without much impact.

I have. We are Commanded to give to the less fortunate, but many do not obey. Therefore, you do not have to obey, you do not have to be righteous, instead you can be disobedient and be in sin and be wrong, but understand that all that you do and think and say will be accounted for at the great white throne Judgment of Christ. Please read Deuteronomy 15:7,8; Matthew 5:42; 25:34-46; Acts 20:35; Luke 14:12-14.

Living at Wingard Home Ministry gives us ample opportunity for charitable work. Inside and outside the ministry. I was manager of the women's dorm which put me in a wonderful position for helping others. Yes, I feel everyone should do some sort of charity work ... see how it benefits others, and yourself. It's a lot of fun actually.

There is always something that needs doing somewhere and for someone. Many of these needs are not being fulfilled because the people with the needs cannot pay, so volunteers are needed. Don't rush in just for the sake of it. Think about your own abilities and interests and ask God to guide you where you are most needed, where God wants you and where you will be able to do the job well.

Yes. Jesus talks about service to others being service to Him in the parable of the sheep and the goats. I work with kids and I do prison ministry though Kairos Prison Ministry International. ONe of the things I have taught my little Girl Scouts is that showing love to others thorugh service is showing love to and of Christ. It is also mentioned in Hebrews 13:1-3.

For about ten years my wife and I opened our home to transient men. We lived in an old nursing home and had room to give them lodging while remaining a semblance of privacy. It wasn't something we had to do. What we have to do is fulfill the Great Commission of telling the story of sin and salvation!

In addition to my work at church, I have always done some sort of volunteer work. Most recently it is with Special Olympics in my county. My nephew is an athlete and I have helped to do some fund raising, as they receive no government funding whatsoever.

I have also done volunteer tutoring at a homeless shelter.

We do not have to do volunteer work, but I highly recommend it to everyone, as it helps people with problems put things into perspective.
