Evangelical Pat Robertson said that God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would cause a mass killing late in 2007. Do you think Pat Robertson is listening to God?

We will certainly know in the next 33 days whether this is true or not. At that point, if what he said has not come to pass, we will know that God has not spoken to him.

On another one of these blogs, someone said that an (allaged) prophet predicted some other calamity to happen before the end of 2007. The same holds for them.

It's curious how God always seems to arrange his schedules based on man-made calendars...
---StrongAxe on 11/18/07

I think Pat Robertson is nuts. He is an embarassment to the Christian Church in America.
---Madison1101 on 11/16/07

Oral Roberts asked for three million dollars and never received it. The hospital he finally built was never fully finished and was eventually sold to a hospital corporation. So, it looks like Oral may have finally got the money he wanted int he first place.
---Susie on 1/8/07

Exzucuh - Yes I know. I was just fooling around with you. I agree with you. :o)
---Helen_5378 on 1/8/07

It was a million dollars and he Got it people sent it to him, I don't think it was him that was nuts he must have knew what he was doing. I think Jesus told peter to catch a fish and then go pay their taxes.
---exzucuh on 1/7/07

This discussion reminds me of when Oral Roberts said that if people did not send him a huge amount of money, God would strike him dead on a certain date. He is still alive and kicking. I wish I could remember the amount of money God told him to get. It was nuts. He is nuts. So is Pat Robertson.
---Madison1101 on 1/7/07

Pat Roberson is a false prophet.

During one of the past presidential election, Robertson said that God told him to become president. Last year, he said that the east and west coasts were going to be destroyed by hurricanes and tsunamis. His guess, based upon current events, may or may not come true, but it won't be from his prophesy.
---Steveng on 1/7/07

Besides, Robertson didn't say "Thus says the Lord..." and he didn't put a condition on the prophesy like, "Repent, America, or the coasts will be destroyed."
---Steveng on 1/7/07

Helen I was being sarcastic I don't believe that stuff thats what those doctrines sound like to me.
---exzucuh on 1/7/07

I believe Pat Roberson is a Man of God and I will not say anything against the word he has given, he has really put himself in a place of faith, saying he has heard from God. If people will repent of their evil ways God will not allow this to happen, And then people will say Pat did not hear from God, because God changed his mind. That's why it is faith for Pat I know that he realizes the risk.
---exzucuh on 1/7/07

We will be held accountable for every thing we say and especially what you say is God's word, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, If any of you think that what I am telling you is some idea of my own you are mistaken, If you will notice I always give you scriptures to back what I am saying, not one scripture but many, I never rely on one scripture. I do not tell you my Idea but what Jesus said, his Apostles said or his Father said, Never what some man taught or doctrine.
---exzucuh on 1/7/07

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Some say that Jesus said he would build the Church on Peter, That would contradict Gods word It is Jesus's Church
Other's Say he will build it on hearing from God ,revelation knowledge, but thats why we have this division now and the gate of hell are prevailing
The church is built on the Foundation that he is the Son of God, those who believe on him and let his word abide in them will have eternal life.
---exzucuh on 1/7/07

Pat Robrtson is loony. Last year he said a tidel wave would hit the northwest. Its a 'good guess' to say America will experience a terrorist hit, its very possible. He wins both ways, if there is no hit, people will still listen to him, just like people listen to Benny Hinn.
---MikeM on 1/7/07

The problem with a dream or vision even when from GOD is a lack of a sense of time. Time does not exist in heaven. GOD IS ETERNAL.A vision can be true but a man or woman can err in putting a time line on it. david7744
---david_7744 on 1/7/07

Exzucuh - What? That is about as much sense as the Oneness doctrine makes. :)
---Helen_5378 on 1/7/07

My problem is with mans reasoning,it is called the Trinity and Oneness doctrines neither of them are in the bible or was taught by Jesus or his apostles, The Arians taught oneness doctrine first and divided the Church there were no Apostles alive to fix the problem , in 320 Constantine called a council to vote on what would be the theory of the Godhead for the Church and the Trinity won. It has been excepted as Doctrine but no Apostle ever taught it. They taught the Doctrine of the Father and the Son.

Jesus is God, the Son, that means he is the Father, the Son, If he is the Father then there cannot be a manifestation of the Father because ,he is the Son, The Son is a Man then the Father is a Man,but can a man be his own Son, The Son prays to the Father, So if he is God he prays to himself and asks himself not to make himself Die, And the Son also asks himself why Have I forsaken myself, Both the Trinity and Oneness doctrines are ridiculous Ideology.
---exzucuh on 1/6/07

If God says the Sky is red, then it is red, even if it is blue to me, I believe Gods word.
Men who make doctrines would take that word and say, all that is blue is now red because God said it. Is that what he said? He said the sky is red. He told Adam you may eat of every tree, every tree, that was God s word. Again he said of the tree that is in the midst of the garden do not eat. I can do all things through Christ, that is the word, But not all the word, I must obey all the word and not sin.
---exzucuh on 1/6/07

God confirms his word by signs and wonders and miracles he will not confirm what you say about his word, or believe about his word, It must be his word alone no adding or taking away. Men take seeds and change the way they produce fruit it weakens the plant, Gods word is his seed, if you change it even a little it is corrupted and brings death. If Satan deceived Adam with what little word he received from God what do you think he can do with 66 books .
---exzucuh on 1/6/07

Man shall not live by bead alone but every word that comes out of Gods mouth. If you live by part of the word you will die, Adam and Eve chose to live by part of Gods word, He said you may eat of every tree, so they did, not considering the other part of his word that said BUT the tree in the midst of the Garden do not eat, OSAS says no man can pluck me out of the Fathers hand and it is Gods word BUT it is his word also every branch that does not bear fruit my Father taketh away. life is in all the Word.

I suspect that Pat Robertson is a fanatic "Christian" and a dreamer like most of the televangelists.

Coincidentally, they are all VERY VERY rich.
---Caring on 1/6/07

Mark, I'm not sure if I'm completely understanding what you are saying, But the Word says that JESUS thought it not robbery to be equal with God (Philippians 2:6), That's what I posted. God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 1/6/07

(II.) Mark, "Jesus thought it not robbery to be equal with God " --Mark, meaning God the Father, God the Son(the only begotton Son of God) , and God the Holy Ghost are EQUAL(Have the same level of Authority/Power, 3 Individual Persons that make up [One God] also known as the THE HOLY TRINITY). God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 1/6/07

I would love to know where we are equil w/ God, mrs. morgan, the closest thing i can get to what you jsut said is that we have a partnership w/ the holy spirit as said in 2nd corinthians 13:14, yes it says fellowship that word fellowship is colinia(not sure on the spelling), which is also a is an honor for us to be able to partner w/ the HOly Spirit to fulfill his will

Dear Exzucuh, I confess both, That Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, and that He is God the Son(the Second Person that makes up the Holy Trinity). I have found that when dealing with the mysteries of God, mans logic is a stumbling block. You are my friend, I think you are using mans logic. God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 1/5/07

(II.) Exzucuh, There are some things that I have struggled with in the past , but the Lord helped me, The Trinity Doctrine might just be one of those Things you are struggling with? Just pray about It, before you dismiss It, okay brother? Many good Holy Ghost filled people vehemently support this vital doctrine. God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 1/5/07

Was it the trinity doctrine that got you the healing, they teach that doctrine at my church too but that does not make it right, Does everybody get healed at your church are just some healing are you seeing healing like the apostles did, God healed people that Got in the water of Bethesda. but if you want a healing ministry you will speak Gods word or he will not confirm it.
---exzucuh on 1/5/07

Why did he say that? If he is God there would not be any reason for him to question that he was equal with himself or wonder the consequences if he counted himself equal. But as the Son of God he would have to take that into consideration, being he was made by the Father a little lower than the Angels. Can you confess Jesus is the Son of God or is that a problem with your doctrine.
---exzucuh on 1/5/07

This is why I am saying these things because you do not confess The Son of God but God the Son and if you cannot see the problem then your doctrine has made you blind to it as others are.
---exzucuh on 1/5/07

"I am aware that many do not Know the Father or the Son they only know about them through Godhead doctrines, this is why you cannot see miracles or signs," --Exzucuh ,The Holy Trinty is Biblical,At my Church we teach this, And miracles and healings are common place at my church, I got a healing for my heart, witnessed countless others receive deliverance from the Lord. Why fight the TRUE doctrine of the Holy Trinity? The Word says Jesus counted it NOT as robbery to be EQUAL with God.
---Mrs._Morgan on 1/5/07

I live in the UK, so my knowledge of Pat Robertson is limited. But it sounds like he has made a prophecy here, and as such should be treated as such.
The rules are simpler: does it come true or not/does it come true and lead peoiple away from God?
Lets get togethers this time next year and see if he was right.

Pat Robertson, and others like him, will 'prophesy' on T.V. that "someone is watching right now who has a bad shoulder and God will heal it." This is on a par with horoscopes. There will always be one (or more) reader/viewer to whom this will apply and many thousands to whom it does not. The one to whom it applies is then hooked on horoscopes and/or 'prophesies'.
---m.p.a. on 1/5/07

If you are not hearing from God you have no business preaching or teaching the Word of God
if you say you have the Holy Spirit and he cannot talk to you something is Wrong. The Holy Spirit is our direct connection to the Father and the Son

Matthew 10:19-20 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
---exzucuh on 1/4/07

I am aware that many do not Know the Father or the Son they only know about them through Godhead doctrines, this is why you cannot see miracles or signs, God only confirms his word, not what you say about his word. people who preach false doctrine make excuses, saying you have a curse, or no Faith, you haven't paid your tithe, , but the problem is they are not speaking the Word, so God will not confirm their Ministry with signs Following, leaving people waiting for the water to be troubled.
---exzucuh on 1/4/07

Amen to that, Mrs. Morgan. When Pat himself said he had a "pretty good track record," I thought...

Not good enough!

Most Christians know that the devil has a little power, with his psychics and mediums and such, but they are never 100% accurate all the time, because their info in NOT from God. Just because some say they are a Christian, and gives prophecies, don't mean that they are getting their info from God, check their "track record", God is not going to have "His prophets" giving false prophecies, at any time. God is not wishy washy, unstable, and His prophets are not either.
---Mrs._Morgan on 1/4/07

A NT prophet does not have the same chops as did the OT prophets. Because as believers we each have the Holy Spirit. In the OT they did not. Scripture is clear that in the NT we only see/prophesy in part. I do not believe we are to assume the same authority for those who prophesy today as we do for the OT prophets. I think some folks today assume that OT authority - they are wrong.
---daphn8897 on 1/4/07

The Test of a True prophet from God is: Do ALL their prophecies that"they profess" COME TO PASS? If someone prophecies don't come to pass,100% of the time, they are NOT receiving their info from God Almighty, and are either receiving their info from self(fanaticism) and/or the devil. Some one mentioned something about old age and senility, that is not the point,Old godly men in the Bible prophesied, and it came to pass 100%(not 50% or 99.9%,etc.), because it was FROM GOD. God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 1/4/07

Say what you want about old Pat, but he's got guts, I don't think I'd ever on my own stand up and say God spoke to me.

SO - The question is, where did his guts come from?

Answer - wait and see.

Do I think PR is listening to God? It is hard to say as we read of similiar type of things from the likes of Oral Roberts who talked with a 90 foot Jesus.

I sometimes wonder if people like Robertson should retire as elderly people often slide into senality and lose contact with what the rest of us view as reality.

As to terrorist attacks, many politicians and others have already predicted that sooner or later we will be hit is simply a matter of time.
---lee on 1/3/07

YES, darlene, i think its a sign for us to pray, he said it wasnt really from like terrorist groups...btu still something bad is goign to happen, so we pray we need to pray hard so that destruction isnt server but God's will is fulfilled anyway
---mark on 1/3/07

If any of us prophesied that this would happen, there's a good chance that we would be right. You don't have to be a prophet to see that this could very well happen. It is sad that Pat Robertson thinks he needs to prove to the world that he is some kind of prophet.
---Susie on 1/3/07

I haven't had the opportunity to listen or watch Pat Robertson in such a very long time. He needs to be careful with what he's saying because he's made some off the wall statements in the past, people are going to think he's just crying wolf now.

When someone says they've heard from the Lord see if it lines up with the guidelines given for a message from God for prophesy. 1 Corinthians 14:3 But he that prophesieth to edification (Strongs 3619 building up),exhortation(Strongs 3874 Calling near, summons(for help)),comfort(Strongs 3889 calming, consoling). No prophecy is given for just infomation,God has a pupose for whatever He gives to the body and bottom line, does it pertain to welfare of Body of Believers and/or building of the Kingdom of God?
---Darlene_1 on 1/3/07

When a person gets a word, presumably from the Lord, we don't need to receive it if we don't believe it. But for those who are receiving it I would suggest to start praying and calling on God. Surely this can do no harm and maybe it could have the same effect as it did on Nineveh. They only had 40 days to get it straight.
---john on 1/3/07

If Pat Robertson appeared at my door reciting John 3:16, I wouldn't believe him if I hadn't already read it for myself.
---Jack on 1/3/07

I used to enjoy listening of Pat Robertson on occasions but some of his statements in the last two years makes me wonder if he is starting to show signs of dementia.
