Sin is a very powerfull thing. If jesus told his deciples to forgive 70 time 7. i am sure he will do the same for you. Keep praying and reading the bible. You need to hang around other believers. Stay away from things that cause you to stumble. Music, Movies, and other worldly things are easy stumbling blocks. I know you dont want to hide in a hole but avoid things as much as you can. I will pray for you even though i dont know what the problem is. GOd Bless. Ur brother in Christ..

You will be forgiven of your sin if you sincerely ask to be forgiven. But you must ask. You must also be sincere.
---Robyn on 11/11/07

Quit concentrating on the sin. Start concentrating on Jesus. Spend time with Him. Read about His life. Read His word. Talk to Him. Ask Him to show you the ugliness of your sin. How it hurts you and others and mostly how it put Him on the cross. Guard yourself. Remove things that lead you to sin from your environment. Remove yourself from people and places that lead you to sin. If you are tempted in spite of this, then ask Him to deliver you and claim His promise to do so.

If the flesh could stop sinning, we wouldnt need Christ. Thats why Jesus came, to do away with sin. You ARE forgiven... Now live through faith in Him and sin will have no power. You are what you believe. Are you saint or sinner?

After reading first John 2:1-2," My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:"
"And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD of the whole world." -- would THE SINS of the WHOLE WORLD include yours?
---Mima on 11/9/07

You can stop. May take a while. God is a determined God. Forgiveness does require turning away from. As long as you have a desire to quit whatever you are doing that's wrong, God will help you. Actually, God won't allow you to quit.

If you can't stop committing a certain sin, then it's a stronghold in your life. Seek the deliver (God) and cry out to Him to deliver you. He will provide the way of deliverance. The wages of sin is death and if you keep sinning over and over and over again, you must REPENT in order to get to heaven. Cry out for Father God to deliver you. "Deliver me Lord, help me Lord, I can't over come this sin, but you can deliver me, please help me, deliver me Lord God, thank you Father in Jesus name."

1 John 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we sin, we confess it (acknowledge that such is contrary to God's will), and then move on with the resolve not to sin again.

I agree with George. It is refreshing to see the body of Christ come to aid each other. To rebuke, correct, edify and encourage.

There is nothing wrong with speaking truth, except if it is not spoken in love.

The last several comments have been awesome.

hey all of you in this blog: I love it! I love it. And I don't have a definite opinion about the matter, but I love to see what you have to say. I definitely believe God has the power to free you from any addiction. but I also believe that if you go to God in Jesus name 70 time 70, He is gonna forgive you. hmm. I love freedom of speech and the fact that we disagree but we are still talking around the same table. God bless you ALL! lets all read our Bibles and ask the Almighty to lead us!.
---george on 2/8/07

Congratulations Deputy. You finally learned what most converts never learn. Despite how many times they hear it, they just refuse to accept it. They would rather believe they can't help but sin instead of submitting and yielding to God(as Paul said over and ovaer again). That submission to God leads to a changed nature(rightesousness). It is also the only way sin can be overcome in ones life. We will fail by trying to do it ourselves. God bless brother.

You must get forgiviness and turn away from. It doesn't mean that you may not backslide sometimes. We also need to know, that some sins are more grevious to God than other sins. And the closer you walk with God the more grevious to God, when you sin.
---CATHERINE on 2/6/07

Deputy, there are some here that will mock you and give you degrading and rude words for saying yielding to God and abiding in Christ so he can abide in you is important. They choose to hold onto false gospels that causes them to lash out against those who confess that Holy living is important as a Christian. Imagine that. Lasing out against holy living. But it happens.

Thanks to all who have given me positive feedback.

(1.)"If a person attempts to stop sinning by his own will, he will never stop! I know because it happened to me.It wasn't until I fully submitted my self to GOD, that I began to see a change in my life." --DePuTy, That is a wonderful edifying testimony, that's called letting Christ live through you. Many Christians try to do it themselves -or- are just not zealous for godly righteousness, that not only doesn't please God, but doesn't work.(Matt. 5:6,8).

(2.)DePuTy, You learned the secret of success, truly yielding&submitting to God, words that many despise/resist/seek damnable "loop hole" false doctrines to AVOID doing(2 Peter 3:16,17).We just can't get anywhere with God unless we TRULY humble ourselves before Him, ALLOWING Him to control us, MOLD US. Some allow their own spirit to control them, many times even the spirit of the enemy , why not ALLOW the Holy Spirit to do His perfecting work in our lives, by walking in the Spirit? God Bless!

Christina, Amen! Yes, [Submitting/Yielding] is very crucial in our precious walk with God. Well said, sister. Many in the Christian World [deliberately] leave that point out, they have itching ears(2 Timothy 4:2-4),and that will NEVER work. The Discipline of the Holy Ghost is very essential. God Bless!

If a person attempts to stop sinning by his own will, he will never stop! I know because it happened to me.
It wasn't until I fully submitted my self to GOD, that I began to see a change in my life.
I'm a prime example of the Awesome Power of GOD!
I am possibly one of the Worst sinners to walk the face of the earth; But, Thanks to the Everlasting LOVE, MERCY and GRACE of our GOD, he looked down on a man like me and SAVED me! Praise be to our MERCIFUL GOD forever! Let him do the same with you.

*Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.*

Amen Christina. Most Christians don't do this. Then they wonder why they can't stop sinning. We must yield to God and believe his power grace is powerful enough to help you say no to sin. (Romans 6:16) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Mima

Explane to me about those that have never heard of the good news of Christ. Believe me, there have been tribes of people deep in the heart of the jungle that havent heard of Jesus. How does there sin affect there salvation if they have never had a chance to beileve? Would there sin of ignorance get them to heaven? How can they reject salvation that they have never heard of, God bless
---Billy on 2/5/07

Mima, the Bible says "For the wages of sin is death..."Rom. 6: 23 If you sin... automatically you owe death (spiritual death in hell)... you're to be punished. However, God in HIS grace has given us the way out of that debt--JESUS CHRIST. When someone sin-- he has no excuse of going to hell... that's the fact. Just thank God for HIS grace & mercy.
---aluh on 2/5/07

---aluh here is a clear truth." Sin cannot and does not send anyone to hell. Why not? Because all sin has been paid for at Lord Jesus Christ and the cross of Calvary!!!! What sends a man to hell is his failure to receive the payment made by Jesus Christ. You agree or disagree?

I still see the hyperdemic argument of "if you really meant it, you would stop."

I understand this to say then that some have not sinned since being a Christian.

Also, what was the purpose of 1 John 2:1-2

Could the person who posted this answer whether you are saying you indeed can't stop sinning or are you asking more of how can you stop sinning?

Mrs Morgan, you quote resist the devil and he will flee...although this is true and often quoted, what precedes it is often left out...submit to God.

Mima... I think we're using ONE word with TWO meaningS here... when I used the word REPENTANCE it was pertaining to his question of "... he cant stop sinning..."
---aluh on 2/1/07

John, Jesus did not say if your brother do THE SAME SIN againt you...sin could be in many form, right? It's one thing to forgive, it's another thing to repent...I still believe if a person is truly repentant... ask God's forgiveness, cleansing and the HOLY SPIRIT... keep God's Words in his heart... we could be like Jesus, tho' tempted... HE DID NOT SIN.
---aluh on 2/1/07

aluh; Genesis 6:8 says "And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart." How does this statement fit with your statement,"Because true repentance is turning back from the sin never to do it again." Was God committing sin when he made man? Did He stop making man after he repented?

Aluh. True repentance is never doing it again?
Look at what Jesus taught about a brother wronging 490 times a day and repenting after each time. We are supposed to forgive him even if he keeps on doing the same thing over again? Forgive. Have you truly repented like you are teaching or do you still do bad things like you did 10 years ago and still ask for forgivenss and expect God to forgive you?
---john on 1/27/07

Is there an escape from the inate perverse characteristics in operation within each human. Here's how men do it. They figure out a way to con themselves into thinking they are okey. They blind themselves from their secret things. They conceal their evil from others, thinking that hidding their fat-fleshed errors makes them okey. As long as know one knows, how can it be so bad. Is there forgiveness. Yes, if you participate in the solution. Guilt and shame are not part of that solution.
---jhonny on 1/27/07

Are we part of the process in anyway obtaining forgiveness. Is there something we have to do. Many believe there is nothing to do. The flesh nature wants you working at being holy it's way. That way everyone will notice how holy you are, and think about how good you will feel. Then you can indulge and celebrate the success of the flesh, and people will like you.
---jhonny on 1/27/07

Ill tell you this jamea. The fact you are asking "will they be forgiven", means they will be forgiven.

The human race was sold into the bondage of sin. Sin is the human condition. When the law came, did men say, let's stop. No, it's oh, that's how you do it, let's go. The human animal, the inate physical origin of man is intractible. It has no permission or capacity for divine virtue. It is ferocious in it's hatred and opposition to obey God.
---jhonny on 1/27/07

I think you have to define what you really mean when you "REPENT". Because true repentance is turning back from the sin never to do it again. Maybe you should truly repent so that you could truly live a holy life. Philippians 4: 13... Christ is your strength. You can stop sinning!

#1:What I've posted is a strategy, a daily plan for how to stay free.

The deficiency today is we can tell how to get free, but not how to stay free.

"ask God to forgive." Bible teaches importunity/keep asking.

Pray. Bible teaches, pray without ceasing.

Strange thing is many of us are doing these exact things. Becasue they are just part of our lives, we don't think about them.
---tdg on 1/13/07

#2:Go back and reveiw what I wrote. If you are living as free as you imply, see aren't you're doing something like I posted.

We I read "I can't stop sinning", I read can any one show me how to stop.

I agree with most, but it falls short of showing how.

Jesus in John 8:3? If you abide(continue) in my word, then are you my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

When Jesus sets a person free, they are free, but if they turn back, they are[giving in] to temptation. The Word says resist the devil and he will flee. Some show no outward change, because there was no[inward change]. The Lord helps His children if they stumble, but there is a difference between falling, and just staying there in the mud, waddling and loving it.Being honest with God is the first step in deliverance.God said the sinning has to stop:(1 John 3),many actually dispute God,sad indeed.God Bless!

If one asks God to forgive them, God will. But if one keeps on committing that same ole sin, after awhile, God is going to get tired of that and turn a deaf ear toward you. Because he said that he would and laugh at your claminities. It all boils down to how much you want to serve God, if you keep repeating the same sin, you must not want to serve God whole-heartly. choose ye this day, whom you shall serve.

*DEVIL

The WORLD hates you
The DEVIL wants to still, kill, destroy.

To stop sinning you must have a biblical strategy.

If you have confessed your sins to God and accepted Jesus as your savior, the word of God will work in your life. If you are not saved, you need to in order for God's word to work. By you getting or being saved, you are already showing that God word is working in your life.

Faith to receive the gospel is produce from hearing the gospel.

#3: Those who spanked your hands for saying "I can't stop sinning" do make a good point. We tend to do what we say. Not always, but as a general principle this is true.

No one can outrun a car going 120mph, I don't care how much you say, I think I can. But, if the car is standing still and jacked up and you're bored. Go for it.

But when it come to living for God, let God's word tell you what you can or cannot do.

Don't let experience invalidate the power of God's word.

TDG it is how my battle was won. When I became a Christian I was able to stop sinning all my past sins except for 1. I had did this habitually for over 20 years. After alot of praying and studying God revealed to me my problem was I was putting more faith in myself than Him. He was trying to tell me it was a sin that I by myself couldn't say no too. I basically had to do two things.
1. Put my faith in that the Lord and the Lord alone will handle it.
2. Stop fearing that I will commit the sin

Chastise for sin
Convicted of sin
Repent of sin
Seek Forgiveness for sin
Relax from sin
Tempted to sin
Sin

Repent...

Can someone show how to break the sin cycle?
---TDG on 1/11/07

The problem you have is that you try to do the battle yourself. Only God can break these urges to commit this sin. Repent of it and give the battle to God. Put your faith in God that he will take care of it and try not to worry about it. Faith is extremely important in overcoming addictive sins. The Devil will do his best to lower your faith. Just keep it strong through prayer. Ask God to give you more and more faith. And ask God to guide you to knowing the right way to go through this.

First John talks about the one who "practices sin" which means you sin continually. Jesus does know and understand your weaknesses but the wages of sin is still death. Just because He understands and knows doesn't give us a right to continue in sin. Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's the truth. You can't sugar coat this, sin is sin. Repent and ask Father God to deliver you from it whether you want to be delivered or not. It will save you from going to hell.

Madison...I did not continue in the sins I was in when I gave my life to Jesus! I chose to stop doing those "habitual" sins. It isn't a matter of not being able to stop sinning. It is deciding to stop sinning. I personally believe that we all know what sin is and we consciously decide to do it when we do it. That's what the Holy Spirit is for. We just ignore the Holy Spirit's urgings!

First, the fact you are saying here you can't stop sinning means you are not a person that can't stop sinning. Such a person would never write such a statement.
We all need to learn to fear God. Something straight away robbed by modern movements. The motions of sin can direct to the fear and awe of God. Fastin a few hours is good.

Some Christians out there suffer from very strong habitual sins. The urges are near impossible to turn away from. Only the power of God can break it. No matter how hard you try you won't be able to say no. This is why you must let God handle it and put your faith in God that he will stop it. It's his battle not yours. Ask him to and believe that he will no matter how many times you mess up. Also make sure you have repented of it. He won't help you if you want to do it. Stay faithful and God bless.

I would highly question if a person who continues to sin is truly a Christian. A Christian will want to do the Will of God. However, a person who is living a sinful life can repent and accept that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins. That person will receive forgiveness and be born again as Jesus mentioned in the Third Chapter of John.
