Mima: You have been at this blogsite for quite a few years. Just as I have. You are not a babe in Christ. You know the answer to this question. You know "salvation" does not depend on good behavior. If it did-we all would be destined for hell. We cannot be good on our own. It is impossible here on this earth. We all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. We don't go around looking for evil and wrong things to do but at some point in our walk with Jesus, we will sin. Intentional and unintentional sin. Sometimes,we don't even know we are sinning! This is why we need a Savior-Jesus Christ. He has paid the penalty for our sins and every sin we will ever commit. This is what the unsaved does not understand about christians.
---Robyn on 8/9/10

Ah come on, now. None of us are good. My goodness sakes. God saves us anyhow, through His mighty Blood. Ahh, Jesus. Have you been raised from the dead, my friends. You don't really want to go to hell. Come on now. JESUS, save just one lost soul today, please. You'll get all the credit, from me, cause I know that it is you, my LORD, which saves lost souls through your mighty and powerful Blood. Ahh. Thank you.

When we first learned that Jesus is the savior, we were "babes in Christ". By using scripture, we learned to REPENT by PERFORMING acts of righteous behavior (works of righteousness).

2 Timothy 3:16
"teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness".

Titus 2,12
"training us to renounce irreligion".

Once we are finished being trained, we should "move on" (graduate) to "maturity" in Christ so that the Holy Spirit can become our trainer instead of scripture.

Scripture provides "instruction" about the basics and is INTRODUCTORY/"elementary".
---more_excellent_way on 8/9/10

N.T. scripture is properly called "the DOCTRINE OF CHRIST".

Hebrews 6:1
"leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God".

JESUS is our ONLY foundation. We should no longer have a foundation of repentant "works" and simple "faith" toward God (we should have a "faith FOR faith", Romans 1:17).

In old testament worship, the Jews did not include the promised Messiah (Jesus) like King David did,...but now we have Jesus ALSO and must "abide in" the DOCTRINE OF CHRIST....

2 John verse 9
"he who abides in the doctrine has BOTH THE FATHER AND THE SON".
---more_excellent_way on 8/9/10

SALVATION itself isn't determined by "good behavior".

Whether your personal spirit/character can be trained by Gods' Holy Spirit or not DOES depend on whether you are of reprobate mind/CHARACTER (do not PERFORM "works" of righteous behavior, actually BE the kind of person that the Holy Spirit can train).

Jesus was the sacrifice (lamb/heifer) that "purified" the FLESH.

Hebrews 9:13
"sanctifies for the purification of the flesh".

...and if we learn from the Spirit that Jesus left for our education, then the Spirit will also purify our "CONSCIENCE" (in verse 14)...then we can have the "guarantee"...

Ephesians 1:14
"which is the guarantee".
---more_excellent_way on 8/9/10

God answers this blog question in John 6:28-29
"Then they said to Him, What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?
"Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.

Believe God's promise of salvation in Jesus Christ is what God asks of us to enter heaven.

Good behavior is obeying All The Word of God.
Your own carnal behavior Is the same as self righteousness, like filthy rags in the eyes of God. Some filthy rags Are burned.
---Lawrence on 8/5/10 know that works righteousness doesn't get you to Heaven.Only by Faith in Christ and what He accomplished for you(us) on the Cross.By this we are given Eternal Life by the GRACE of GOD.
---JIM on 11/22/07

Catherine - Hi! I would like to ask you please if you wouldn't put all those words in capitals as they make your posts very hard to read. An occasional word for emphasis is ok. Thanks!
---Helen_5378 on 1/18/07

Luke 6:38: "Give, and it shall be given unto you;
good measure, pressed down, and shaken together,
and running over, shall men give into your bosom.
For with the same measure that ye mete withal it
shall be measured to you again." Read Luke 6-all.
---Nana on 1/18/07

That sums it up wholy. And to the question "How
much "good behavior" is necessary to enter heaven?"
I say that ALL of which we are capable! Do we not
say: with all our "heart", and with all our "soul", and
with all our "mind", and with all our "strength"? And
that unto God and unto Man?
---Nana on 1/18/07

It is by doing that we "enter into life"; a thing we must
do first before heaven is even considered. God has
set rules and he has setup the Way and we must follow.
Because God has made exceptions like with the thief at
the Cross does not mean we will now hold God to do
for us the same. See the parable of the laborers who got
paid the same wages for a full, half and part of a day's
---Nana on 1/18/07

Now does that mean that it does not matter whether to
do or not do or work or barely work? Yes it matters.
In the parable of the talents, all that had "talent" or
abilities to produce were entrusted with that which they
were capable of administer and they all did yield their
respective returns. The silly rabbitt who was given just
one did not make two.
---Nana on 1/18/07

Even Paul said that if we do not work we do not eat. And
if we do not eat long enough we kill what God has created
and render his labor to naught. What use will God have to
raise such one? Even the Lord said "for the workman is
worthy of his meat." He also said Luke 6:36: "Be ye
therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful."
---Nana on 1/18/07

And we
are taught to be humble and to not expect more from God
than that which we are willing to give: Matthew 6:15: "But if
ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father
forgive your trespasses."
---Nana on 1/18/07

WE All need to compare scriptures in light of other scriptures. AND WE ALL NEED TO REALLY STUDY. Lets all of us pick up some study tools. AND lets get busy.

IF you believe that JESUS CHRIST saved you , just so you can float to HEAVEN on a CLOUD, YOU ARE MISTAKEN. SlothFULness will be treated as WickEDness. AND so will cowardness. YOU better be thinking about judgment DAY.
---CATHERINE on 1/18/07

REV.20--11-15 THE WORKS of men what they have done and whether it be good or evil.--DEATH BEDS OFCOURSE, IF SOMEONE IS on their death beds can't do good works. IT IS gambling to wait that long.THERE IS ANOTHER SCRIPTURE IN I think rev. that says, slothfulness will be treated as wickedness.AND ALSO cowardness will not be welcome in the KINGDOM OF GOD.
---catherine_berryhill on 1/17/07

Catherine, you have it wrong. You are not saved by good works, true, but the good works naturally follow when you are truly saved.
Where in the Bible does it say that you can't get into heaven without works? So what you are really saying is that our good works get's us into heaven. This is in direct contrast of Jesus' teaching.
What about a death bed confession of Christ? How can that person do good works? Are you telling us he doesn't get in?
---John on 1/17/07

CATHERINE- Do you relize that you are contradicting yourself? But you are saying that good works save us. We are saved by faith, that's it! The good works come as a result of being saved. You are confused.

if it was good works that gets us to heaven then the ones who think they are going for all the good works they have done won't make it..good works are great, but it don't get you into heaven, having faith and trust in Jesus and being obedience to the word and being a willing vessel will get you there before anything else..
---mary on 1/17/07

Looks like to be saved, you just have to say: Lord I believe in you.

Then just sit down and do nothing else.

I prefer to try to teach a non-believer than a fanatic.
---Caring on 1/17/07

Anybody who says that works plays a part in our being saved is a liar. Jesus Christ paid the price in full on the Cross for sin. "It is finished" with nothing to be added. "The just shall live by faith" (Galatians 3:11). Works should come naturally for a born-again Christian, but works do not get one into heaven. Works are for a reward, not salvation.
---Helen_5378 on 1/17/07

And amen Lisa, thank you, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I dont like some saying we dont get saved with works. It sure has a part to play in getting saved as we mentioned. God bless sister.

Send a Free Love Ecard

Dear Mima,
There is absolutely no works or good behavior that can save you. Salvation is free...a gift of God... through the sacrifice of Christ. see Ga 2:16 & Ga 2:21 In receiving this gift you receive the love of God. You will want to return this love to give Him glory and to cultivate an extraordinary love relationship that will prod you to obey his word and please Him.
---Edmond on 1/16/07

WHILE we are not saved by good works, yet we are not saved apart from good works. ANY preacher who minimizes, devalues, depreciates, or discourages good works is a unsaved false preacher.
---CATHERINE on 1/16/07

No Jana, we do not stay at home and sin or jump up and down. If you are a true believer in Christ, you will be jumping up and down ready to work for Christ. you will have a joy that no one can stop. You will want to sing it, spread it, and want everyone to know what you feel and why you have and want to share it. That is the life of a True Christian. If one is truely saved, he will follow all his has to do for Christ, after all, he is the vessel that God uses to bring others the gospel.
---lisa on 1/16/07

2. It is true love at first sight. Once your eyes are open to Christ, you will run to Him because He first love you. His love will move you to do all that you are called to do. Many have different gifts and they will use them as they work for Christ. But it is the love of Christ that encourages us equips us, teaches us and conforms us to Him. No one is forced to do anything, they will love to do everything. That is true love, that is not selfish like the one we have while lost.

If we cannot be save by good works, then do we just stay at home and not share the good news with the gentiles?I clearly understood Jesus saying in Mat28, "Go ye there4 INTO ALL THE WORLD, baptising etc" He didnt say u stay home do nothing I do all the work 4 u. He said visit the sick, those in jail, the poor, widows. Share the gospel of JC with the world. He doesnt want us to be lazy christians n keep the truth 2 ourself

The "just" shall live by faith. Faith in Christ and not in good works. Justification may be defined "As that act by which unjust sinners are made right in the sight of a Just Holy God. The supreme need of unjust persons is righteousness. It is this lack of righteousness that is supplied by Christ on behalf of the believing sinner. Justification by faith alone means justification by the righteousness or merit of Christ alone, not by our goodness or good deeds.
---lisa on 1/15/07

Salvation is NOT about good behavior or works. The Bible says that ALL have sinned and fall short, and that NONE is good. Our good works are like dirty rags (menstral pads) unto God. The ONLY way that you can be saved & go to Heaven is to accept Jesus Christ into your heart as Lord & Savior.

Heb 3:8-13
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
In the day of trial in the wilderness,
Where your fathers tested Me, proved Me,
And saw My works forty years.
Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said, "They always go astray in their heart,
And they have not known My ways."
So I swore in My wrath,
They shall not enter My rest."

The Word says, the Just (and the only Just ones in God's Eyes are the godly ones), shall live by Faith. (Habakkuk 2:4)(Galatians 3:11)(Romans 1:17)(Hebrews 10:38). God Bless!

(II.)Most times ones behavior is a reflection of ones [soul] / ones [heart]/ ones [motives] , Jesus said you will know them by their [FRUITS]. Hypocrites tried to trick Jesus, tried in vain to "find fault" in Him/His Words, but they couldn't, so they made false accusations against Him, that is common place among [the hypocrites]. Many don't know their own selves(2 Corinth. 13:5). Jesus said the abundance of the [heart] the mouth speaks. God Bless!

Debbie, that was a wonderful answer. So very true. There isn't any amount of merit one can do to earn what Christ already did on the cross. While some might have us believe we have to earn it by been good, no one would know how good that good has to be. It is faith that holds us to Christ, Faith in His righteousness not ours. When we are saved,

2. Something that really puzzles me is why a Born again christian would speak of grace over and over and in the same words send you right back to the law is beyoung me. They know we are saved by grace through faith and then when they answer they talk about how they have to work to get there. Contradicting what they say in the first place. The only thing that separates a true Christian from others is Grace. All other religions need works. We would be just like them. Just not Scriptural.

#1 If our reaching heaven is dependent on our maintaining good works until we die, how MANY good works must we do, and how GOOD must they be? Is heaven a reward or a gift? Where in the Bible is an example of a Christian being born again more than once, or where does it say that we should Keep Saved or He made it Through? Did God give us or just LOAN His Son to us? Who can be taken from us if we dont Live the life?
---Debbie on 1/10/07

#2 If, as the Bible says, our human nature is so weak and corrupt that it cannot save us; how can we think that it is possible for our human nature to keep us saved? If as HEBREWS 10:1-4 declares, that blood of animal sacrifices satisfied the Israelites conscience for a year, how much more should Christs blood satisfy the believers conscience forever?
---Debbie on 1/10/07

#3 If the INNUMERABLE company of REVELATION 7 got to heaven because they had washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb, REVELATION 7:14: (and this certainly is the only reason they got there), isnt this the final proof that all who get to heaven get there not by their good works, but by the blood of the Lamb? We read Theywashed their robes and made them white IN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB.
