My greatest fear, which I have been trying to overcome,is losing my husband. He is 5 & 1/2 years older than me. About 20 years ago he got something wrong with him which made him where he couldn't even dress himself alone. The doctors at one of the largest Clinics in USA could never find out what was wrong. He has been on prednisone for all that time and is fine as long as he doesn't forget to take it. In fact he still works. He has no high high blood pressure or any old age diseases and is in good health and physical condition. The thing is if the doctors couldn't diagnoise whats wrong then they also can't tell us what course it will take as he gets older. All I can do is to trust God with it all.

What fear? When God Almighty proves that he is for us, then whom can be against us?
---Eloy on 9/19/11

We all have our struggles, areas the Lord is graciously perfecting in us. There are areas I have thought the Lord had (totally) taken care of, then found there was more, deeper, work for Him to do. The 'best' fear, fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom, helps take care of those 'worst' fears.
---chria9396 on 9/19/11

First of all Mark. If your greatest fear is someone cheating on you, I hope you never get married. If you do--I feel sorry for the person you marry.
My greatest earthly fear is: being stuck in a longtime marriage, with an old impotent man, who has since forgotten the joys of marriage and romance. Spiritual fear: to miss heaven and go to hell.
---Robyn on 9/18/11

my fear is not for me because I am secure in Jesus Christ. My fear is for our children and grandchildren. Some will never experience the moving of the Holy Spirit. We have muslims bent on conquering the world and God help our country if that happens. They will try to destroy bibles, murder christians, mass murder in churches. Don't laugh, it will happen if we don't get on our knees and pray.
---shira3877 on 9/16/11

The "fear" that I have on my mind lately, is that the gospel may be, even is, being compromised, in various churches and individuals/loved ones. Paul speaks of "suffering for the gospel by the power of God...in 2 Tim 1. Complacancy is dangerous, as are our comfort zones. We are given this charge: 2Tim 4:2-5

"Chris thank you for reminding me that the perfect love of God for me will cast away my fear.I need to focus more on God and not on situations.
---mj on 9/12/11"
You're not alone there.
Col 3:1-4 "1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory."

"My greatest fear is loosing any of my love ones" Understand that. As posted, perfect love casts out fear, even so, I've struggled with fear of rejection. God IS working though!
---Chris9396 on 9/12/11

My biggest fear is a selfish one, losing one of my children or all of them while I live. I don't want to experience that in my whole life. Once I'm dead I can feel no more pain. I lost my mom, my dad, my sister, my wife, my uncle's and know the pain, but also know the worse pain is your children. I feel for all those who have lost a son or daugther.
I don't fear losing God because He will never leave me, but those around us do.

LOSING G-D !!!
---John on 9/12/11

Mark, you are not along. I heard that from so many others. By the way, I Always feared my wife would one day leave me and guess what? She did leave. One of the reasons that happens is because you are insecured. Another, because inside your heart, you just do not trust her for a reason. One because you think she is too good for you. Whatever the reason is, you have to think that you are special to God, and that He wants the very best for you. That no matter what happens you have Christ forever, who will never leave you. People fail all the time. But God never fails. When you put God as number one in your life, you will put her in her place, together with all others you love, not on the Throne. That belongs to Christ.
---Mark_V. on 9/12/11

wow! Now, hard time for me,afraid to trust people, hurting....we help people out & they not strangers, see them at church. it's always somebody close to me steal, lie or beat, hurt me. Now,I have "trust issues". Since have cancer friends just try use me,steal or do anything crooked! I keep to myself.Trust no one. God forgive me,that's how I feel. It goin' take time for me,trust again.

It is difficult for religious christianity to not fear - Satan the father of lies and god of this world wants people to fear

he wants them to fear people things situations and even the future

by fearing a future wife whom one has not even married will cheat on you demonstrates where your faith is tied

True Christians FEAR God not physical flesh and blood MORTAL men and their actions or lack of actions

Psalm 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

My biggest fear would have to be in disobeying a direct order from God [please spare me]. I must add, the more obedient that you are to God, the more you will suffer.
---catherine on 2/19/10

i think you all need to stop concentrating on things that would make the LORD unhappy, and really think about things that affect society, both on a global scale, and those close to you. Are those not the people that really matter? If not, I would take a close look at what love really means to you. While it is understandable to have fears, i do not believe you should be allowing "the lord" to control your life, whether you are religious or not. you, as humans, have free will, and need to exercise that beautiful gift to the fullest extent in order to make the most out of your life. you have the choice, and you can make things happen.

It is true that fear does not come from the Lord, but I deal with fear at times. My worst fear is the Fear of the Lord due to a sin that I may have allowed in my life, to quickly confess and repent to be forgiven by Him. 1 John1:9

When I see the ugly appearance of fear I remind myself of the Scripture that says." Spirit of fear is not of the Lord" I know that sounds terribly arrogant, but truly I have no fears.
---Mima on 8/27/07

My fear is moving around so often, doing and caring about this life that I miss the opportunities that God gives to be able to share His love with others. My biggest fear is whether or not I will be able to accomplish His assignment for my life.

Marcia, you don't tell the truth.
I don't enjoy reading imaginative stories and tales on CN. This should be a forum of truth about the truth. But you know that, you really like the spotlight but you don't like the truth.
---Bob on 8/27/07

Bob, why are you so interested in my personal life? Don't u know there are bondaries you don't cross unless you r deeply interested n establishing an relationship with that person. Let's keep these conversations within the contexts of Christainity please.

"Once you have this sweet blessing, your fear will turn into a bundle of Joy. There is nothing like holding your own baby for the first time." Marcia

That really does collide like a freight train with the story you told us about being 23 and watching movies in your room. Apparently, you've been doing a whole lot more than watching a movie.
---Bob on 8/25/07

Missing Heaven is my main fear.

This response from Robyn is probably the most honest, sober minded, answer a person could give if they walk in the fear of the Lord as the early apostles and disciples did.

I agree totally as none of us are beyond losing our salvation.
And, I do not wish to argue the point with those who think they "sit a queen forever."

Rose, I would suggest that you draw close to God for courage. Your fearful because you don't know where u stand with all those people who were counting on you. Once you find out that they still love you and are going to support you, you won't be as fearful.

Missing Heaven is my main fear. Being in a loveless, sexless marriage with an old settled spouse. Not having enough money to take care of myself. Dependent on others.
---Robyn on 8/23/07

Mark we must reason all fear with the mind of Christ. So far your thought for your wife is concern for you and preservation of the status quo.

Think about what a stain it would be to her soul if she should sin in this way, wouldn't she be far more damaged than you? You'll get over it, you'll die someday, but her death is troubling if she dies in that sin.

Furthermore you have to trust in God, If she sins he CAN AND WILL work it out to benefit you. Romans 8:28

I fear the consenquences when I disobey God. (Sometimes I don't listen.) Three times I was homeless, the first time by choice when I hitchhiked across the U.S. for a year and a half, which, I believe, prepared me for the other two times I was chastised by God. The first time I was lead by the Spirit to cross certain people's paths (including my mother who kicked me out of the house at 16, never expecting to see me again, but needed emotional support. It was a real tear jerker).
