Denominations Glorify God
Since there is one God and one truth should denominational differences be of greater concern and not a matter to be looked at as classifications of 'major' and 'minor' points? Do man-made denominations truly glorify God with their doctrinal divisions, establisment of factions and fascist zealots?

One God and one truth, is being, there is only one God....I'll never forget what God said to me a long time ago. "Don't worry about your commentary, it might be as good as anyone's". Well, that told me that we just don't know a whole lot.... Do man-made denominations truly glorify God with their divisions, establishment of factions and fascist zealots? NO.

The Lord Jesus declares, "John4:24 God is a Spirit, and they that worship HIM must worship HIM in spirit and in truth.KJV" Any denomination that worships God as stated above and seeks the lost to convert/educate them to do so is a good TOOL or VEHICLE of GOD and should not be condemned. Speaking against such denominations is speaking against God.

I don't think that we should let the differences of denominations blind us from our responsibilities as christians. There will always be differences in the church until Christ returns and set things in order. We cannot set things in order like he can because we do not know all things. Let us focus on our purpose which is to edify the church and witness to the lost.

Denominations will be eliminated.
Eph 4:3 ..unity of the Spirit..
4 ..one body, and one Spirit..
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God ..
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints..13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith..
14 That we henceforth be no more children..by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

No. When credit is given to a denomination it is because the people are thinking carnally and are puffed up with Pride. The only time a denomination should be exsposed is when as a whole the teaching of that establishment is contradicting the word of God and deceiving the flock in its midst.

Good point Ryan. No, they bring dishonor to the Doctrine of Christ which we have seemed to lose through 2000yrs of the false teachings by man. The denominations are created by false doctrine because men have not rightly divided the word of truth as the Bible teaches and they take one or two scriptures out of context and base doctrine erroneously on them. Or they ignore scriptures. Nondemominations do the same thing even though the fool us by saying that they are of no denomination.

Part 2, Some of the denominational differences in doctrine and practices are actually unchristian by Biblical standard. Infact most are since anytime one does not rightly divide the Truth, and condones error, what results, is not Christian. The truth about the modern day churches is they have been made into businesses and the congregations have been made merchandise. Much selfseeking, pride, and greed is present. There is no Love. God is judging the churches.

Denominations resulted from people wanting their own views taught as doctrine in the early 1600's. the reformers wanted the catholic church to change false doctrines, but instead of forming one church in opposition, they listened to the people who said God is spirit, Only one God, everyone is saved without repentence, baptise any way you wish, without the aid of the bible to guide them. many had never read it. it was in Latin. It still exists today. People don't agree, they form a new church.

Anything that brings dissention among the brethren (doctrines of man and denominations included) is listed as an abomination in the eyes of God.
---Frank on 7/5/07|
If they are man-made divisions, then it stands to reason that they diverge and split off from His original church, and hence do not glorify Him.

God made us to be ONE body, NOT several denominations. This does NOT glorify God. Many denominations have man-made rules, and do NOT preach/teach the TRUTH, but only their virsion of the truth. This does NOT glorify God either.

I don't believe in OSAS, Never Lost.
Denominations will be with us, because they give balance to the Body of Christ.
Speaking through someone's "literature", using written material to give yourself a voice and platform, I will not follow it.
Pretending or deceiving yourself, that's it really "you" speaking through literature, it only adds to the deception. It's like the Wizard of Oz, standing behind the curtain. A voice, but a deceptive one.
---Tim on 1/13/07|
When the Wizard of Oz is speaking, it's a language that goes around in circles. Like a dog chasing it's tail.
Spiritual error is deceptive, because an element of truth will be thrown in the mix. That's why there will be denominations, so that we don't die with a lie.

There is only one Church, the Church of Jesus Christ, the entire Body of Christ. there is only one doctrine, Bible doctrine, not denominational doctrine. Man has given their own interpretation or spin to the Truth. They have tried to impose their own interpretation to their congregations. We as Christians, need to study to show ourselves approved, rightly dividing the Word. We need to know what the Scriptures say and find out the Truth for outselves. Once you know the Truth, you will not be be deceived.

earl ... The reason such a question is asked in my church is courteous interest.

The term denominational in and of itself implies division. Division within the body of Christ does nothing to edify the body or glorify The Father in any way. Only the advocates of the particular dogmas being pushed by the various denominations are concerned with them. The rest of us just note the differences & search the scriptures for the truth.

greetings.Upon entering a church one may be greeted quickly and soon after is asked where do you go to church. Is this an attempt to discover if one is with their denomination? Most likely it is to find what their religion is.The kingdom is the kingdom.Limitations are real and not all will say the picture is the same.Reason is the tool for discovery. The 'kingdom' is believers not denominations.Unfortunately denominations do not agree on tolerance.Jesus taught believing, not who is on 'first'

Denominations are a hinderance to Christianity.
You have to ask yourself..."Which ones are accurate and which ones are lying."
Example: WAS PETER THE FIRST POPE?
Of course not, but the Catholic denomination teaches this lie. I know because I was a Catholic once and proud of it! Now that I'm born again (like Jesus said I must be) my eyes are open.
I attend a NONDENOMINATIONAL church that only follows the truth.
The burden has been lifted, praise God!

All denominations exist because someone couldn't get along with the other guys. There is good solid Biblical instruction on how to operate local assemblies and denominational hierarchy is not one of them.
Many say that every local assembly should be accountable and I agree but not accountable to a denomination. Accountable to God.

In some ways they do in that they preach Christ and Him crucified, but with division caused by doctrines it doesn't glorify God.
