Should We Fast For A Jet

At church last night an elderly man told us about going on a fast for days and not eating. Then he told us about how he sent $1000 to Benny Hinn because Benny Hinn said he needed another $1000 to buy a jet. Is this what God wants preachers to do?

The time has come, the harvest is ripe. Those who reject the Son of man, bring condemnation upon themselves. Will Benny reject the Son of man. The key can be found at: "The Believers Information Network".

that is the problem, obedience is being perverted & exploited so people like benny hinn will get his jet. just like the pharisees, they labeled christ when he did not obeyed their so called teachings.

Blessings Sally, first of all, the elderly man that fasted, should not have told anyone. When you fast, it is between God and you. Second, it sounds like the decision to donate one thousand dollars to Benny Hinn was his own decision, not an obedience to God decision, if you know what I mean. God Bless!

Also, buying their luxury jet through their "ministries", they are Tax exempt...same goes for their homes, cars..etcs.
What a scam!
And before anybody asks....Joyce Meyer herself claimed in an article that her home, and those of her children's (she has 4), the cars, the jet and all were purchased by the "ministry"......ALL under the tax exempt status....
So how is purchasing her expensive homes or cars with "ministry" money furthering the Gospel??

"We cannot expect our ministries to go all around the world for Jesus' work by using Delta airlines."

And just why not?? How much money would they save by traveling coach instead of a private jet?

The only convayance Jesus used was a borrowed boat and an ass to ride into Jerusalem. I'm not saying that BH or his ilk should ride an ass to their crusades, but a private jet?? I don't think so.

The multitude of counsellers bearing witness to Christ Jesus our Lord by the lives of his servants show us this was not of God. The same holds true for those who were used mightily as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.
Those who overlook the needy to give to the rich bring a curse upon themselves. He may wish to look those scriptures up.
It does bear witness to a lack of spiritual discernment.

On many occasions, televangelists use donations to buy expensive things (like jets) for the purpose of furthering the gospel - and then use them for personal use.

(For example, Pat Robertson used planes belonging to Operation Blessing to transport blood diamonds out of Africa)

So when they ask for things, they must be held accountable for how they use those things.

I can't speak about BH because I don't know him. However, if a jet is needed for over seas crusades to reach the multitudes with the message of Christ, then that is reasonable. We cannot expect our ministries to go all around the world for Jesus' work by using Delta airlines. Notice: I did not say a jet for the pastors' personal luxury.

Benny Hinn needs another jet - yet many Christians can't even afford a single car (and they don't have audiences they can get to buy one for them).

A sucker is born every minute. A fool every second. This man that sent this money fit the second description. Benny Hinn does not have financial problems because he understand the asking and receiving principle on top of the priniciple that I described. He uses both to his benefit.

John_T: "If it is true, then Hinn is deluding many of God's children, God knows his heart, and will deal with him appropriately."

God will deal with him at Judgement day, but what about his followers. Who are going to save them now?

At a time when simple coach class air travel is prohibitably expensive for the average Joe, Hinn has the chutzpah to ask God for a private jet.

If it is true, then Hinn is deluding many of God's children, God knows his heart, and will deal with him appropriately.

"How many gambling tables tables have you sat at Susie?----"
Before the Lord came into my life I did sit at a couple of these. My husband and I lived and ministered in Las Vegas for 20 years. We have witnessed in casinos, handing out tracts everytime we went to eat at one of the buffets. We have left tracts on slot machines. But, we NEVER sat down at a slot machine or gambling table to witness. That would lead to someone thinking that we were gambling which would not be a good witness.

"A friend mine is out witnessing and goes into a tavern in order to use the restroom."
The person had been witnessing before going into the bar. What about all those that had already witnessed to when they saw him go into that bar? One person got prayed with in the bar, but how many turned away from the message because of his going into the bar? Had we stopped at one gambling table on our way into the buffet or out of the buffet, our Christian witness would have been ruined.
---Susie on 1/23/07

Twenty-five years ago, when I was a baby Christian, I was playing a slot machine. I began talking with the woman next to me. A woman whom I knew to have professed to be a devout Christian for many years came in and sat on the other side of the woman next to me. We began to talk about church with each other. The woman next to me had a startled look on her face. The Lord spoke to me and said, "You're a fine witness, aren't you!" That's the last time I gambled. I want to let my light shine!!

How many gambling tables tables have you sat at Susie?----but here's one for you ---stand by. A friend mine is out witnessing and goes into a tavern in order to use the restroom. While he is in the tavern he starts witnessing to a man at the bar. Then he asked the man do you wanna pray with me about your salvation. Give me a man the man said give me a minute. Then said yes I want to pray with you. He prayed with my friend. Give me your judgment

Think of all those opportunities to witness on a plane. The well known preacher in coach with the sheep. Sitting in the midst of crying, scared babies. The elderly that are scared of planes. The depressed salesmen who miss their families. Think about the comfort/Gospel message the preacher could bring to the sheep. Lost luggage, discomfort, and peanuts.

Now here's a missed opportunity.
---Merne on 1/22/07

There is absolutely no good witnessing that could possibly happen at any gambling table. Anyone sitting and gambling at a table is not a witness for Jesus!
---Susie on 1/22/07

Jesse Duplantis, if you should see this.

You looked younger before the big jet. Your humorous nature was pleasant. Constant rapid travel through time zones ages a person.

Go back to coach. Sit among the people that Jesus came and died for. That's where the Holy Spirit is sitting.

Sell that plane and go back to your Christian roots. What a testimony to the lost sheep.

Your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour. Unfortunately his messengers have TV shows and fly private jets to spread their lust worldwide as they teach the multitudes to covet a world the Lord is going to destroy.

Once a highrolling gambler I quit gambling for the simple reason that is taking advantage of someone because of something you have that he doesn't.(Namely a better hand of cards) which you then use to trick him into making a mistake and betting money. BTW I've heard some good witnessing a poker tables in my day.

Yes, it is sad. As far as jealousy, I can't imagine why anyone (other than televangelists) would be jealous of Benny Hinn's jet. LOL! As for me, I'll take a car anyday over an airplane. I like to see the beautiful creation of the Lord while I travel.

Song of Solomon 1:6 says that her own vineyard she has not kept. Maybe these so-called evangelists should try preaching at home and letting the Christians overseas do the work there. The money spent on their useless ministry could help the poor saints here.

Every person on this site has a ministry of evangelism in a sense and it only costs us our cable bill. No jets, no pomp and glory. Just sharing the word and making more sense than TV evangelists. More anointing too, by the way!

Isn't it amazing how Christians pick and choose the scriptures to justify sin and damn themselves? If a person is gay they are an abomination and condemned but if they give to the rich instead of the poor they're alright! Proverbs is very clear about bringing a curse on youself giving to the rich and neglecting the needy. The Lord shows grace but will not go against his word.

Yes, we see, john.

Sheep in coach, with peanuts. Ripped and torn
fleece (luggage bounced off of carrier - contents stolen).

Shepherd, First Class.
---Merne on 1/22/07

is there a better way to get the jet than to get people to buy it for you?

Yes. God supplies all needs (Phil. 4:19). When He ordains a ministry, He provides for it. He can put on the hearts of people ABLE to make such purchases or contributions to do so without solicitation. Ministers must practice what they preach. As they instruct on being good stewarts, on trusting and waiting on the Lord for needs, they must do likewise. Can't imagine Jesus asking His followers for jet money!
---AlwaysOn on 1/22/07

And here is the rest of the story.Benny Hinns board of directors have found the same as many other large ministries that having your own jet to pack all the ministry team and belongings around is better than going through airlines and having to deal with cancellations and lost and broken luggage. And is there a better way to get the jet than to get people to buy it for you? I think a lot of people are just jealous.

Do you see a rush for the finish line in TVland ministry? It's fading. The pleas for money are intense, switch through the channels, same message. Prosperity. Is it Deal or No Deal.
Do you believe that money ministry is coming to a close?

Should preachers eat cavier and partners eat stale bread?

Jesus ate with the disciples.

One of the sweetest verses in the Bible.

"Children, have you any food?"

"Cast the net on the right side of the boat, you will find some."
"Bring some of the fish which you have just caught."
"Come and eat breakfast."

God is no respecter of persons and his word says that the gospel is preached to the poor. Why should one preacher have a jet while others have to scrimp and save just to afford to pay church bills? One day these false prophets and ravenous wolves will have to answer for their abundance while others lack.
