Tithe Or Help The Neighbor

Let's say you make $4,000 a month. And out of this you tithe $400 to your congregation. Your neighbor just lost his job. Do you: A) Tell him you'll pray for him, then give your tithe to your congregation or B) Put your tithe in an envelope and put it in your neighbors mailbox, anonymously?

"
Here is a different use of the envelopes. When someone in a church that I am at announces a need I take a tithing envelope and place money inside. Then I hand the envelope to someone who I trust(manyTimes it is an elderly Lady in the church, several times it has been the pastor's wife) and who I know will not give me away and ask that person to see that the other person gets the enveope. I've been doing this for years, in fact I did it Wednesday night, with great success!!!!"

Why not do both? If a person is making that much money a month, then there shouldn't be a problem in helping a neighbor out. I don't make that much money in a month, and at times I do both. I pay my tithes regularly and help out my in-laws when they need help.

You still tithe, give your neighbour above and beyond your tithe and approach your church to assist him.Isn't this why people resist tithing and the church losing face?It isn't always seen to be making a difference where it is needed.

$48,000.00=== a YEAR IS PRETTY good money. Should be able to help. It is God's money. that we all know, RIGHT? sO SINCE we all agree that it's God's money, ask Him, what to do with His money.

You would definetly tithe to the person in need. Jesus didnt teach tithing with money!
But in his ministry it is evidence he encouraged giving yourself as a tithe!
He told the rich man sell every thing and give it to the poor, this is what got him killed, because the priest wanted the people to continue to bring it to them. Some churches are bringing in so much money they dont know what to do with it.

First you pray, that is wisdom. Ask GOD, "How much to give to the church"? then you give it. Then you ask HIM, "How much to give to the neighbor?" HE tells you, then you give that. Then you ask GOD, "To please help me to make it the rest of this month."

I would tithe as that neighbor may be a test of your obedience. If I made four thousand dollars a month I would tithe AND help the neighbor.

Helen 5378, that is the most honest Christian answer I have seen yet, thank you.

We are to tithe and help our neighbors. It is not either, OR WE are suppose to do both.Trust GOD with the rest. GOD first and people second. PRAY first, listen, and then my friend ACT.

YOU know what I think, I think that people are trying to get out of doing what is right. You don't want to honor SUNDAY OR SAT. whatever. YOU don't want to tithe. YOU don't want to be nice. YOU DO NOT WANT TO GIVE MONEY to NEIGHBORS. MY, MY.

There are many ways to help your neighbours without having to physically give them your tithes. You can share your shopping, forego something you usually get yourself each month, etc while helping them to find another job if possible.

Give the $400.00 to your neighbour. Make you sure you give it cheerfully because God loves a cheerful giver.

Mail your neighbor a money order.

Mima was just giving info that works for him, NO need to chastise him! I'm sure he wasn't trying to bring glory to himself.

I think Mima has a great idea! :) God bless ya dear :) At least your recipients don't know; I think it's cool! :)

Mima, by including someone else in the transfer of the needed funds are you truly giving in secrecy? By proclaiming what you do here on CN are you keeping your giving secret?

It is illegal to put mail in a mailbox like that. Did you know that? Just a little bit of trivia. It would be better to give the money to the person direct rather than leave it laying somewhere.
---Susie on 2/2/07

You:
1) Tithe and tell him you'll pray for him.
2) Slip extra money or YOURS (not the tithe, which already belongs to God)in his mailbox;
3) Recommend he visit your church and see if they can offer any other help or support.
4) Receive God's blessing for sacrificial giving.
