They believe that sickness, poverty, and suffering are Satanic in origin, and come from incorrect thinking, By imagining something, having faith, and speaking, it will occur. And that words have substance, and faith is a force.
Also, Jesus Christ lost the divine nature, and took on Satan's nature at the cross. The Lords death was not efficacious and our redemption was secured in Hell, The demons torturing him for three days in order to pay Satan for permission to enter the Universe, and to get back the keys Adam passed to Satan in the Garden. Jesus is reincarnated in Hell and is the first born again., and Christians are incarnated (Godlike) as well.
The verses against this are in the hundreds or thousands.

The whole Word of Faith Movement is run by scam artists masquerading as Christians but who have the morals of a Bernard Madoff or the Enron crowd. Lord have mercy on them all!
---JohnnyB on 4/24/09

The Word of Faith movement is based on the writings of E.W. Kenyon, whose teachings were similar to the metaphysical philosophy of "New Thought". Generally, they diminish God, and elevate man. And are known for pride, rebellion, immaturity in Christ, dishonesty, not receiving correction, and for having little respect for the Bible (Eisegeses). W.O.F. believe that they have the truth, and that anyone in opposition to them is deceived. Most of the modern "Charismatic" fleshly manifestations came out of the W.O.F.

Jeremiah 2:12-13, Mathew 7:15, 15:14, Romans 12:16, 2Timothy 4:3-4, 2John 1:9-11 / 1Timothy 6:3-4 > Ezequiel 34:1-10, John 10:15-14, the Nicene creed.

(1.)This topic was also mentioned on several blogs. Claiming God's promises is Biblical, BUT there is a "popular movement" that many times distorts the true meaning of claiming the promises of God, many times no godly wisdom is involved, no godly Discipline, ANYTHING goes, and that is NOT of God. God must always be put first, man can NEVER control/manipulate God into doing what they want...
---Mrs._Morgan on 5/15/08

Doree, i agree with you. Look at Job. His friends all thought he did something to deserve his troubles. But God had a bigger plan. God uses our difficulties to help others many times. Look at Paul. He pleaded that God would remove the thorn in his flesh, but God wanted him to go through life with it. Thank God. He made you precious and priceless just the way you are. If He wishes to heal you He will & you will know it.
---Deb on 3/3/07

My grace is suffient. Sometimes God does choose to let you suffer. Actually He said those words to me one time. For all you doubters, that was before I found out He said the same thing to Paul.
---catherine on 3/3/07

Doree - I am alarmed that you say, the Lord told you He will not heal you. That is a direct contradiction to His Word.
---DoryLory on 3/3/07

In IJohn 5:14 the "will of God" is the "word of God". So if we can find it in His word it's His "will".
---Rickey on 2/27/07

Absolutely. It's not faith that heals, it's faith in Jesus Christ. All that Jesus did means nothing until you accept it. Those will be held accountable for turning others away from the FAITH. If you force unbelief on others you will pay the price. I want nothing more than to rejoice with each of you in heaven. Perhaps there's more to the situation that is keeping you in unbelief. Maybe there's more that you cannot see or are even willing to admit. "Whatsoever is not of faith is sin."
---faye4464 on 2/27/07

read God's word in contexc dangerous not to,we mUST ask according to HIS WILL which often is not ours.I am deaf and disabled I know God is not going to heal me HE has told me,BUT HE has promised never to leave me and always give me strength to cope, whgich He does.God is our father, does a human father give a child all it wants? not if he is wise,so it is with God, the wisest of all he does not always give us all we want and we may not know why til we reach heaven when it wont matter anyway
---doree4573 on 2/27/07

I believe that if it is in the Bible it has to be true. If Jesus said you shall have whatsoever you shall say you will. God spoke, it happened. Jesus spoke it happened. We are to be christ minded. If He did it, we can too. He said so...Greater works than these ye shall do... If Mark 11:23-24 isn't true why would Jesus say it?
---Betty on 2/27/07

In Matthew when Jesus prayed that prayer it wasn't for the church/believers. Jesus told us what to do in John 16:23. The word ask means to petition or demand. Understand that demanding doesn't mean that you are putting yourself above God telling Him what to do. Actually, you're simply telling Him what He's promised in His word & requiring it of Him.(IJohn 5:14-15) His will is His word. Ask--aiteo--to demand, require, or petiton for something.
---Rickey on 2/16/07

But this is what I always say, " Don't knock it til you try it." Do you have a need or lack in your life? Find a promise in the word & fight the good fight of faith by speaking the word. Name and claim your victory.(Job 22:28; Revelation 12:11; Proverbs 18:21)
---Rickey on 2/16/07

Jesus taught us to pray: thy will be done. The name it claim it says that is wrong, we are to never ask if it is God's will, but to demand it from God. Who are we to damand anything from God?
---Rev_Herb on 2/15/07

Thanks. Mendy what do you believe about speaking things? Do you believe that you will have whatsoever you say? Do you believe that the words of a person's mouth entangles them, not just in the natural, but also spiritually?
---Rickey on 2/15/07

When you answer a question you need to fully understand, the scripture you use to back it up. it's a good idea to read the verses before and after the scripture your using. You cannot just take pieces and twist them into what you would like them to mean. Proverbs 6:2 isn't even talking about speaking things into existence, it is refering to putting up "surety" or making dangerous promises.

The bible does refer to man as little gods. We are not "gods" to be worshipped. We, as spirits, can & do call things into existance in our own lives daily whether we know it or not.(Proverbs 6:2) For example, destruction in a marriage may start with a simple thought & when that person speaks it it calls a thing that is not as though it were & it will only take time, long or short, for that thing to be seen.
---Rickey on 2/12/07

That's why God wouldn't let John the baptist's dad talk. His mouth was full of unbelief. A person speaking unbelief will hinder/block God from doing what He wants to in their life.
---Rickey on 2/12/07

Naming &claiming, blabbing & grabbing, confessing & possessing is what a person does in order to get saved.(Romans 10:9-10) W/O doing so a person can't get saved.
Jesus spoke to a fig tree & it died. He spoke to the storm & it obeyed. He said that we can do the samething.(Mark 11:23)
Our mouth is our #1 weapon. Jesus showed it in Luke 4>
---Rickey on 2/12/07

The name-it-claim-it folks are the ones who say they are "little gods", if I'm not mistaken? Much [arrogance] in that type of reasoning, sounds like Lucifer to me. God Bless!

I went to a "Word of Faith" church for years, but it was NOT a 'name it and claim it' church. Personally I think all Christian churches should consider themselves Word of Faith. Isn't that what our beliefs are based on?
---NVBarbara on 2/12/07

Rickey...Your points are good. However, I have heard many a Word of Faith preacher tell his listeners to go ahead and write out that check to them, believing that the funds will be there. Or, tell the listeners to charge their donation to their credit cards. Both of these are foolish moves. Any preacher who asks anyone to write a check for money they don't have or charge a donation to them is nothing more than a false prophet who is after nothing but money!!!!
---Susie on 2/12/07

There's a difference between faith & foolishness. If a person is speaking the word & believing in his heart for something he can't be a fool and go get it before he has the money he needs.
---Rickey on 2/12/07

In Genesis 1:26 God said," Let Us make man in Our image..." Question, isn't God a Spirit Who speaks & has what He says?(John 4:24) Since we were created as speaking-spirits we can do the samething. It's not a debatable subject. Why not just try it for yourself? In Mark 11:22 Jesus said, " Have the God-kind of faith." Then in verse 23 He showed how to use it.

Susie, thanks for sharing that story. I know Christians that were believing and able to qualify, but the payments were overwhelming. The homes were returned to the bank.
---Cindy on 2/12/07

A man wanted a house he couldn't afford. He had been taught that if he SPOKE what he wanted, he would get it. He signed a deal for the house writing a check for $10,000 for the earnest money. There was not enough money in his account to cover that check, but he SPOKE that there was. He borrowed the money to cover the $10,000 check. Since he was not able to afford that house, he lost the $10,000 earnest money which was non-refundable if he failed to qualify for the house. This is a true story.
---Susie on 2/12/07

This is the "name-it-and-claim it" so-called gospel.

I call it the "God-on-a-leash gospel" Like a spoiled 2 years old child, you demand from God the things you want. You train your god by saying the same mantra repeatedly.

Does anyone THINK THAT A JUST, RIGHTEOUS AND HOLY GOD will withhold good needs from his children, for whom he sent his Son to die?

Does any sane person think that the same God is impressed, or cowered by our vain repetitions?
---John_T on 2/10/07

As the name "Positive Confession"/"Word-Faith" implies, this movement teaches that faith is a matter of what we say more than whom we trust or what truths we embrace and affirm in our hearts. The term "positive confession" refers to the teaching that words have creative power. What you say, Word-Faith teachers claim, determines everything that happens to you.

Your "confessions," that is, the things you say -- especially the favors you demand of God -- must all be stated positively and without wavering. Then God is required to answer. Word-Faith believers view their positive confessions as an incantation by which they can conjure up anything they desire: "Believe it in your heart; say it with your mouth. That is the principle of faith. You can have what you say" (Charismatic Chaos, pp. 281, 285).
---Cindy on 2/10/07

Bottom line, the fact is that to deny the reality and to attempt to alter reality with one's positive words and/or thoughts is witchcraft; it is not Biblical. (Source: Media Spotlight -- v.13, #1, 12/92.)

""only God's words have such power""
True, and He told us we can use His word and stand on it. " If you say unto this mountain be moved and doubt not then it shall be done." If we don't get the results that we say then no problem. At least we are doing what we are told to do and are excercising faith instead of unbelief. The mountain surely won't move on it's own.
---john on 2/10/07

Proverbs 4:20-22 says God's Word is life and health to a man's whole body. The literal meaning for the word health is: medicine, a cure, deliverance, healing. This tells me the Word works like medicine. Whenever I get a prescription for medicine from the doctor, I don't expect one pill to heal me. I take the medicine until I am well. I believe we should do the same with God's Word.

Hebrews 4:14 directs us to hold fast to our confession of faith. Hold onto the Word of God until healing comes. Take your physical medicine but take your spiritual medicine too. Don't give up on God. Keep trusting, keep believing. And a great thing about God's medicine ... no side effects. :)
---DoryLory on 2/10/07

Only God can speak something into existence. We cannot do that. If you think you can, then you are fooled.
---Helen_5378 on 2/10/07

**the bible says to call those things that are not as though they were.**

Only GOD'S words have such power.
---Jack on 2/10/07

What could be wrong with having faith in what the Word says? Surely we are not taught to be in disbelief of the word. Faith is speaking into existence the things that are not as though they were. I admire any one with that kind of faith. It's the kind that makes mountains move.

Yeah, Donna, folks do it all of the time. I know that most folks who don't get what they are confessing for aren't getting it because of the intent of their heart. In James 4:3,"Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume [it] upon your lusts."

Faith is fruit from your born-again spirit & it works by love. Selfishness is the exact opposite. Selfishness constipates the promises of God in a person's life.
---Rickey on 2/10/07

absolutely!the word is our sword, this is how we defeat the enemy.the bible says to call those things that are not as though they were.speak healing over your life or delivereance and walk in it. jesus gave us the power and authority to do these things. he even said greater works shall we do. amen
---carol on 2/9/07

Rickey, I totally agree with you 100%. However, haven't you heard Christians going around speaking scriptures for something they want? And then they wonder why it doesn't come to pass? Probably because it wasn't God's will for them to have it in the first place. The most misused scripture is: Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Then you find sisters standing on that for a

A person's mouth is what literally defeats them in their everyday life.(Proverbs 18:21) The bible says, "...give no place to the devil". The #1 way christians do that is by the words of their mouth. I agree w/ Donna upto a certain extent. Yes, getting a word from God gives us the victory, but we must already have the word in our heart so we can speak it when needed. Jesus didn't have a "word from God" in Luke 4, He had the word in His heart & confessed it with His mouth.

Too many christians are waiting on God to defeat satan for them, but He is waiting for them to resist the devil. He gave a prime example in Luke 4. Jesus didn't stand there and pray that God would defeat satan for Him. No, He opened His own mouth and got victory. Same w/ the centurion. Jesus didn't pray all He did was spoke a word.
---Rickey on 2/8/07

The saying is true, "you are hung(snared) by your tongue."(Proverbs 6:2) The words of your mouth either snare you up or give you victory. Sickness is an example. Money. Marriage problems caused by the words of a person's mouth. If a person would spend time confessing/sowing the word concerning their marriage & wait patiently for the harvest, they would get victory.
---Rickey on 2/8/07

NO WORD CAN HELP ANYONE. But, faith in the Word of God can. Jesus paid it all on the cross at Calvary. You can repeat a word all you want, it won't help you a bit. JESUS can help!
---Susie on 2/8/07

The error lies when someone gets a hold of a scripture and "claims" it to be for them. Get a word from GOD Himself from the scriptures. Let him illuminate what Word is for you from Him. Then cultivate that word by speaking it out loud over your life night and day, believe it, speak it until it comes to pass. He Heals the Brokenhearted and binds up their wounds was a scripture God gave to me when I was brokenhearted. 8 months later, HE brought it to pass and He healed me.

It doesn't help that the largest so-called Christian network pushes these false doctrines. We were counseling a mother who had a lot of rebellious teenagers. When we walked into her home, she would not turn the television off. It was left on that one channel 24/7 because they tell their viewers to leave that channel on 24/7 to get their family saved. It wasn't a surprise that her children were sick of having it shoved down their throats.

(2.)...Him to do, they shouldn't even desire that. We know God wants His people to [proper] spiritually, physically, and financially, but some get greedy, egotistic, power thirsty causing them to [FALL] from the Truth they manifest traits of the enemy (Isaiah14:12-16)(Proverbs 16:18)(1 Tim. 3:3)(1 Tim. 6:10), God said take heed lest you FALL, Christians should be careful, examine themselves and seek FIRST the Kingdom of God. God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 2/7/07

Nothing if the meekness of the body to the Spirit of God is as great as the shout of the church.

A Christian should have faith and the assurance of God's mercy when walking in his will for their life. I do know that more of God's healing takes place after we die then we could possibly understand, and anything on the way to that is merely a glimpse of the glory to come.
