Culture Causing Demon Possession

What are your thoughts on demon possession? I believe that many people today are opening themselves up to demon possession through the culture they are embracing. Satan is getting at people easily through music and other media. Do you agree?

I totally agree. You will know them by their fruit. I can usally discern when someone is demon possessed. If your a christian you should too. They may have a spirit of Lust, Envy, Bitterness, Pride, a covetous Spirit and it is excessive.
---Marcia on 8/17/07

Also demon Spirits can jump from person to person. I have seen this too. One person will pick up the same tone, disposition and attitude as one who had the demon spirit. You would be shocked by what you could see if you would stay spiritually minded and not carnally minded. Watch people and watch for the fruit. Some people you will find have a peacefull spirit about them, that all are welcome type of Spirit that is the Fruit of a filled person, Filled with the Spirit/Love of Christ.

The culture is the result of the lusts of the flesh. Is it Satan and his demons that are influencing people and the culture or are people simply setting their minds on the deeds of the flesh?
---Ryan on 8/16/07

Peter was one of the first Christians, yet he also was controlled by a demon when he denied he knew Jesus, not just once but three times. Was he not a true Christian? It's the thought that Christians can't have demons that demons love.

Ok Steven, thanks for your answer to me. I give up on this one.

thank you for caring and for praying god bless you

Lisas: "Demon possesion is true. But not for the Christian." Anyone can be possessed by demons. Just because you are a Christian, it doesn't mean you can't fall into Satan's trap. Just like when Satan temped Jesus. Unfortunately, Christians are infallible and most fall victim to Satan's tricks. Adam and Eve fell victim and so can most everyone else. We're just human.
---Steveng on 2/26/07

Lisa and Rebecca, I think both of you are correct. I think a christian can not have a demon, however, a demon can have a christian.
---Cynthia_1 on 2/26/07

Demon possesion is true. But not for the Christian. The habitation of the Holy Spirit is never together with any evil spirit in a true believer. He might be going through much termoil, but not possessed. Only the lost can and do get possessed many times. Some for a lifetime. Some continue through their seeds. There is many that promote that a Christian can be possessed at the same time the Spirit lives in him but that is not from Scripture.

2. In Matthew chapter 12, Christ rebuked those who were following Him just for the sake of witnessing great signs and wonders. " When the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places, seeking rest, and does not find it. Then it says, " I will return to my house from which I came"; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order. Then it goes, and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there;

3. and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation" verses 43-45. Instead of responding with spectacular sign's and wonders, Christ addressed their need for salvation. Many people appear to have their lives in order. But in reality, they have not trusted Christ as Savior and Lord. Their souls are "unccupied" this is, the Holy Spirit does not indwell them. Thus they are open to demonic invasion.
---Lisas on 2/26/07

4. That cannot be true of those whose bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. (2 Corinthians 6:16. According to 1 Peter 1:5, when Christ reigns in a person's life, that person is kept by God's power. As a result, "the evil one does not touch him" (1 John 5:18. When the Holy Spirit inhabits a person, no demon can set up house as a squatter. Indwelling by demons, is only evidence of a lack of genuine salvation.

Satan walks to and fro upon this earth, seeking whom he may devour. He came to kill, steal and destory. And he'll do just that any way he can, to anyone he can. Christians especially, because we are one of God's children.

"I want to get to the point that, when I am facing wicked men, I can see beyond the shell of a human-being, and see Satan and the evil forces behind the Wicked man."

I agree with Eloy's answer to this question!

Many years ago I remember hearing this story From missionary to Philipines at that time Lester Sumrall, who encountered a girl who actually describes these black haired teeth demons coming into her room every night biting her body all over, tortured, she saught exor-cising by Mr. Sumrall and the demons spoke out of her, saying they had a right because she walked into their territory by a movie she went to see, which was demonic ground to take her.

Faye, alan_watts: "...do not judge." I suggest you study how a Christians CAN judge.

anonymous: "Brainwashing is definetly a tool of Satan." It is also a tool of God's.

"nobody has the right to demonize anyone." Anyone can do anything they please. Unfortunately, those are the ones who do not know God. Those who DO know God and still demonizes someone, they themselves are possessed.
---Steveng on 2/24/07

My thoughts is that nobody has the right to demonize anyone. Why would someone do that? It could only be one of the 3 temptations. Political sin=Power. Sexual sin=Porno. Spiritual Sin=Causing error in the spirit. It never speaks of Jesus doing that so it has to come from Satan.
---anonymous on 2/24/07

Alan Watts - Yes Jesus did love people. He also was very harsh and straightforward with some of them too, like the religious leaders. He called them things like whitewashed tombs full of dead men's bones, hypocrites etc.
---Helen_5378 on 2/24/07

Witchcraft=An=Absolute put down on God and His people. How come? Witchcraft is demonic. It's from the devil, it's of the devil. No true Christian will practice.

Demon possession is on the rise, but that is because we are coming to a climax, and the Lord is returning very soon. Yes, the media is a powerful catalyst to turn people off into the wide way of destruction and to feed their flesh, but it is also just as powerful to use the media for a wholesome and virtuous Christian influence.
---Eloy on 2/23/07

Actually, when a christian judges ANYONE, christian or not, it's out of line. Don't forget, Jesus was someone who loved, and his message to us was one of loving our fellow man. Let's remember that when we see things we don't fully understand or appreciate.
---alan_watts on 2/23/07

"Each and every time a Christian speaks with bitterness, revenge, unforgiveness, or pride, his words carry death. A curse is birthed." Dennis Cramer

Yes, Christians have been cursing other Christians. When a Christian imposes his will on another Christian he is practicing witchcraft. So pleaee, do not judge.
---faye4464 on 2/23/07

The only culture that would cause demon possession in Satan's culture. Demon possession is caused by people that hate God and the Godly. This has been so since the beginning of time. God states that he will put enimity between the devils and the woman seed. The womans seed represents the holy line. They are trying to turn this around to their advantage. They have made vast devastating mistakes.

I know that demons do exist, because Jesus spoke and cast them out. I had an expeirence with a demon, I was into witchcraft and converting back to christianity, was holloween night and I went outside. I seen myself being assaulted by a demon, I ran inside and grabbed my bible, turned to Ephesians 6:11-18, the demon hit me in my back I began to sing and feel asleep, my bible on my chest, when I woke up my bible was at my back. I knew then that God had my back. The point is, that demons do exist.

Demon Possession is very real. Brainwashing is definetly a tool of Satan. Music and media is also a tool.
---anonymous on 2/17/07

We as born again, spirit filled Christians should be praying according to 1 Chronicles 7:14. "If MY people, who are called by MY name, humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, THEN I will hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin and heal their land." Why are we not doing this? to combat the "spiritual wickedness, principalities" and demons that roam to and fro on this earth seeking whom he may devour (he meaning satan).

Is this the doctrine that's supposed to replace the fear of hell. How's it working.
The catholic priest told his congregation that missionaries I know were demon possessed. They believed what they were told. That's whose possessed. No evidence required. Archaic instruments of torture(artifacts) are in the open ready to be used tomorrow if they are told or given permission. That's all it takes.

I believe that demonic possession does occur, but our present culture has created a generation whereby such measures are unnecessary. Why take possession of those who conform to Satan's will freely. Those who do not put Jesus first, put something else in His rightful place, and they are soon lost. That somethings might be sex, drugs, can be music, new age thinking, etc.
---lorra8574 on 2/12/07

Demon possession is very real. I beleive that beastly men have been dominating women for centuries in their search for souls and wanting what belongs to the female. Satan uses music and the media for his work. In Revelations there are 2 churches that are of Satan. Thyatria. Smyrna.
---topnne on 2/12/07

The bible teaches that Satan has dominion over every unbeliever. For the believer it is impossible, if you stay close to God in talking to Him, Listening to Him, Studying, and praises and worships. Remember, that God lives in the Born Again Believer. I don't see how true believers will make it in this life without doing those few simple things.
---catherine on 2/11/07

The Devil and his demons CAN possess Christians and non-Christians alike. Sin opens the door to this happening. You are made of three parts: body, soul (mind, will, emotions), and spirit. Your spirit belongs to God when you get saved. Your body and soul (mind, will, emotions), and your thoughts and words can still be possessed by Satan.

melissa, I believe that more and more people ,including christians are allowing themselves to fall into BONDAGE too more and more things related to the flesh and world.music, wrong type, movies,a conglomerate of many different distractions.now Iam not saying that demon possession doesn,t occur, but I believe that with our lifestyles and all the distractions satan doesn,t need to demonize our flesh.
---tom2 on 2/10/07

part2. satan has our minds on so many diffeent situations. that many times when God is speaking we are so busy we don,t hear.the fast paced lives that most live, especially within the bigger citys ,with the fast paced jobs and more and more attitudes, we are in bondage sometimes I think to our own lives.
---tom2 on 2/10/07

I've noticed that Christians who are concerned about demon possession are among the most fearful people in the world.

How they can be this way when the first words said at the nativity of our Saviour were, "Fear not!" is beyond me.
