(Ezekiel 18:20-21) "The soul that sinneth, it shall die... But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die."
---Mr._Graham on 11/18/07

I heard recently that sin was anything that goes against Gods will.
---Dana on 11/16/07

Matthew, what do you mean by saying that you are glad I believe in repentance? Of course repentence is a part of that salvation when you are saved. Repentance is a part of the conviction the Spirit does in a person's life in order for that person to see his sins against God. I don't believe I ever mentioned you didn't have to have repentance after you have been born again. You cannot have repentance before you are saved, because when you are lost you don't have anything you want to repent about.
---Lisas on 3/5/07

Sin covers both man's inability to do right and His inclination to do wrong.
---catherine on 3/4/07

The comment on the 3,000 killed I meant to post on another blog. It doesn't realte to this discussion.
---Matthew on 3/4/07

*Matthew, I believe there is people out there that never truely repented and say they don't have to worry about sinning.*

Well I'm happy to see you believe that repentance is important. That's a good thing. Some think they don't have to and have a dead faith in Jesus Christ.
---Matthew on 3/3/07

Does a person that committed his life to Christ enjoy sinning?

No I agree they don't. Although I know there are those out there who have faith in Christ but use it to justify their sin. They are hypocrites. God addressed them as even worse than unbelievers. They believe in Jesus yet are still God's enemies. Their believing doesn't save them.
---Matthew on 3/3/07

2) They believe in vain because they were never born again. This is the exact reason I said believing isn't enough. We must be born again also. Notice I didn't say we must do works. The only thing I believe that we have any part in, in getting saved is actually making the choice to accept salvation and yielding to God. The power and ability to make both choices come from God so WE ourselves cannot take the credit.
---Matthew on 3/3/07

3) Do you yet see the line i am trying to draw? We make choices that is a given. We choose to accept salvation or not. God gave us a free will. Salvation I never said is earned. But I did say that a person can choose to let it go which is what falling is. That in no way means I believe we save ourselves. Please don't spread that lie anymore.
---Matthew on 3/3/07

4) (Exodus 32:33-34)The LORD replied to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book. 34 Now go, lead the people to the place I spoke of, and my angel will go before you. However, when the time comes for me to punish, I will punish them for their sin."

This can very well address the Isralites that were still faithful. Nonetheless those who were killed were no longer faithful to God and were killed because of it. What do you think happened to them?
---Matthew on 3/3/07

I guess you just dont understand, just read this...
I am forgiven always as Im saved always.
IF IM NOT FORGIVEN, then Im NOT saved. To ASK forgiveness over and over is the same as asking to be saved over and over. It makes no sense.
I can truthfully say Im a FORGIVEN child of God.....You on the other hand, cannot say that. You are NOT FORGIVEN from sin because your still asking to be forgiven. FORGIVENESS OF SIN, SETS YOU FREE FROM SIN, Now you dead to sin and alive to God.
---duane on 3/3/07

Duane; I didn't know you asked a question. When one first gets saved, they don't repent. they ask for forgiveness. Once they are born again and if they sin, they repent and ask for forgivenss. You repent, but don't ask for forgiveness. Do you think asking one time was enough for the rest of your life?
---Rebecca_D on 3/3/07

Matthew, I believe there is people out there that never truely repented and say they don't have to worry about sinning. It does not make them true born of the Spirit people. But when you mention true born of the Spirit saying those things, you are wrong. You have to be able to tell one from the other. Does a person that committed his life to Christ enjoy sinning? or loves to sin? Of course not. That should be a clue for you.
---Lisas on 3/3/07

2. Does a person who is saved, beat his wife, kick his kids, murders, or gets on line each day to curse someone because they won't believe what they say, or condemn one to hell because he thinks his God? I don't think so. If your eyes are open you will know that is not the evidence of a God fearing person. But please don't compare them the same. Even if we don't know a person's heart whether his saved or not, you will be able (Not positively) to tell many times by their actions and their love for others.
---Lisas on 3/3/07 never answered me...yes we all repent, How do you think we can be saved if we dont? We have to have a change of heart, we must turn from our unbelief and believe on HIM.
---duane on 3/2/07

Duane; thanks for answering that question on repenting, I just seen your answer. You repent for your sins but don't ask God to forgive you? What do you say to God, "Lord I done this, I'm sorry", and that is it? It isn't part of our nature to turn away from sin, because our nature turns to sin. So if your convicted over your sins, you still don't ask God to forgive you? What do you think repenting is? Confessing your sin, ask God to forgive you and turn away from sin. That is repenting.

Duane; God tells us that if his people call upon his name humble themselves and pray and seek his face, turn from their wicked ways (sin) he will forgive our sins. Meaning if one don't ask for forgiveness, God won't forgive them.

Rebecca...why dont you read 2 corinthians 5:17-19 last part, it says .. God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, NOT COUNTING MENS SINS AGAINST THEM.

Matthew, you do not have to answer me since you are answering on the other blog, I hope. thanks for reminding me that there is people you know out there that have said that. I did not know that.
---Lisas on 3/2/07

Lisa I was speaking about those who DO void the law through faith. For some reason you assume I am talking about you when I never mention your name. Why? I am speaking about those who do void the law through faith, and there are some on these blogs that do so. I should have you used the word some instead of most in my previous blog. It's more likely it is some than most. Lisa please answer this question.

2) Do you believe there are people who justify their sin by their faith in Christ? If the answer is yes, then please stop getting offended when I talk about them.

Rebecca...Have you ever read 2 corinthians 5:17-19 ?????...
Why do you go to the old testiment (Job) to justify not being forgiven?? The old was set aside to establish the new.
If you go back to the law, Christ will be of no benefit to you. The law made nothing perfect.

Lisas..The Law is obsolete, it made nothing perfect.
---duane on 3/2/07

I think the original question is a joke and I'll treat it as such.

If you spell "SIN" backwards, it reads "NIS" or better "NICE"
---Caring on 3/2/07

Sin is Romans 1. They are haters of God lovers of money, full of murder, envy and strife, boastful, proud, inventors of evil things I call this sin. Anyone who hates God cannot be of God.
---tonne on 3/2/07

Don't you see what you are doing Matthew?, again you are saying, we say we are avoiding the law. Who has said to avoid the law? Only Morgan has said that, and many others that oppose justification by faith in Christ alone. What we are saying is that we are not saved by the law. Isn't that what I have said? Why do you add some extra spin on your answers? There isn't anything that indicates we are avoiding the law, but that salvation comes through faith in Christ. please get it right Matthew.

*Ro 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.*

Excellent passage to bring up on the subject. Voiding the law through faith is what MOST on these blogs say to do.
---Matthew on 3/2/07

Duane; If sin isn't held accountable to us, then every person that has ever gotten saved, became born again, even the backsliders are going to heaven. No one can cleanse themselves from sin, Job 9:30-31, Pr 20:9. In Job 10:14 it says IF I sin, then thou markest me, and thou will not acquit me from mine iniquity. Meaning if one sins, God won't release (acquit) him from that sin. So what your saying about we're not held accountable for our sins, is wrong.
---Rebecca_D on 3/1/07

Rebecca.... Do I repent? Of course, Always, its part of our nature to turn from sin, as we have the holy spirit within to convict us of sinfull ways.
If we backslide or do sinful deeds on purpose, His forgiveness is still with us. If we totally walk away, its our loss. We are justified by faith. Forgiveness will not save you. Forgiveness reconciled us to God.
---duane on 3/1/07

I would forgive that child if asked to be forgiven. If the child knows that I will forgive him anyways, then he/she will take that for granted. Like alot of people do to God and don't bother to ask for forgiveness or repent. Do you repent?
---Rebecca_D on 3/1/07

Rebbeca..We are not accountable for any sin. If we were accountable, then we could not attain salvation. If sin did count against us, then the wages of sin is DEATH. Jesus came to take sin away (past present and future). Now we are dead to sin and alive to God. We serve God now in love, not because sin will take us to hell. Believeing on Jesus Christ is all the work we need to do. We serve in love, not fear.
If we refuse His forgiveness, we refuse the Cross. Then we should BEG forgiveness.
---duane on 3/1/07

Rebecca...I guess the best way to answer would be...Think of yourself being a mom, you had a child who did a very bad thing. Even though you knew he was doing wrong, would not your forgiveness always be his or would you throw him into hell because he didnt ask forgiveness? I think your forgiveness would always be his, no matter what. After all, YOU LOVE HIM, hes your child. Christ died for the forgiveness of sin, His love for His children is greater than our love for our children.
---duane on 3/1/07

Duane: what if someone backslide on God? In order for them to restor their relationship with Christ, must they ask for forgiveness? I know that God forgave them of their past sins, but what about the sins that the backslider is making now. Must they ask for forgiveness? Our past sins aren't held against us, but what about the ones we are commiting now? Do you think a person will be held accountable? Please answer every question.

The church is in the state it is in because there is people that teach that salvation is the result of man's works and not Christ works in our life's. That is why they are so confused. They cannot make up their minds if they are saved or not, or whether they have to meet certain demands of Christ in order to be saved. That is why the church is so messed up. listening to false teaching of man's works only elimiates the work of Christ in a believer's life. You might as well not have Christ at all.

Deceit = "This idea that Christians aren't sinners is prepostoris...".

Is it any wonder that the church is in the state it's in & Jesus said only a FEW will make it? Some need to wake up & read the Word as [a whole]. Truth = Only [3] types of people exists,God's holy[redeemed], sinners & nauseating Lukewarm/Hypocrites,that's the saving[Word]. God said come let us reason together,God don't CALL us to lukewarmness, but to [holiness] (1 Peter 1:13-16). God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 2/28/07

Lukewarm Christians can justify sinning all they want, but the Word condemns them, they are under the Law,Because they reject the Saving-Grace of God(Calvary),Which is His Mercy AND Truth, one CAN'T receive one & then reject the other, mercy & truth that is.SHUN false doctrine, pure religion is FAULTLESS(James 1:27)"No man can serve TWO masters:for either he will hate the one, and love the other;or else he will hold to the one,and despise the other..."(Matt. 6:24)(James 4:8-10).God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 2/28/07

This idea that Christians aren't sinners is prepostoris and proof that we are. (vanity and pride) If we could stop sinning just because we accepted God's saving grace, we wouln't need it. "For all have sinned and fall short (present tense) of the glory of God" Rom 3:23.
---scott on 2/28/07

Duane: our sins aren't counted against us? What about in James 4:17? Do you always do good? Do you always have faith in everything? Rom 14:23. David was asking God to forgive him all the time. Ps 51:1-12. Are you covering your sins? Pr 28:13. According your beliefs, one can live like hell, act like hell and still go to heaven because they are forever forgiven, if they were born again. Regardless if they backslide, their still going to heaven. You are so way off on the truth.

Hi Rebecca,
If we sin today, its the same as sinning any other time, we are still set free from sin. Our sins not counted against us.
The LORDS prayer..FATHER will forgive us as we forgive others, Jesus was talking before His death (old testiment)(CONDITIONAL FORGIVENESS)...NOW we as Christians, forgive as Jesus forgives,( THATS UNCONDITIONAL FORGIVENESS) We are set free from sin now, thank God we can now be saved and sin cant take forgiveness away. We have imputed rightousness.
---Duane on 2/27/07

(I.)Paul tells Christians to[examine] themselves, to see if they are [IN] the FAITH, one has to remain IN the Faith/Truth in order to be safe/saved, only God's Truth saves, so one need not be confused. (James 2:14) says can faith ALONE save you? No. Faith void of godly works/fruits of God is [DEAD], the Word makes this very clear. The Word is a sharp 2 Edged Sword, proves if we are saved or not(IN the Truth or not), we are to examine our FRUITS with It, Abide in It, that's our only safety.
---Mrs._Morgan on 2/27/07

(II.)The Word speaks of being steadfast & FAITHFUL to God's Saving Word(Gal. 5:1)(Rev. 2:25,26), those who don't feel it's necessary to [remain faithful] to the Word/Truth/Jesus, in regard to [salvation], don't have [It] in them,Jesus isn't their FIRST LOVE & they are [reprobates] without excuse as Paul put it(Romans 1:18-22)( 2 Peter 2:20-22). God hates [lukewarm] doctrines/teachings(Revelation 2:15)(Revelation 3:14-22), its a damnable stumbling block for many(Rev. 2:14). God Bless!

When a person is born of the Spirit, regenerated, born again, he is forgiven, becomes a child of God, and is not under the law anymore. He repents because he has a contrite heart. He feels great when he does confess and is back to not feeling guilty for that sin. It did not help God that he confessed, it helps the person that confesses. God doesn't need our help for anything. All things told by God after we become saved is for our own good. It is to help us and be betters ministers for Christ.
---Lisas on 2/27/07

2. If you have doubts about your salvation, I suggest to get right with God. Then after you have, don't lean on your own understandings, lean on Christ. If your dependence is not on Christ, you are not born again. If your salvation is through your works, you better keep on working as hard as you can, and see how far that gets you.
---Lisas on 2/27/07

Duane: I understand what you are saying. But what if a christian person sins today? Do you think they should just shrug their shoulders and say, Well Jesus forgave me from my past sins, I guess he'll forgive me for this sin as well and just go on with your day. I'm sorry but that isn't what the word of the Lord teaches me. Matthew; thank you, that is what I was getting at, but two people seem to think we don't need to ask for forgiveness from our sins because we already did when we got saved.
---Rebecca_D on 2/27/07

Mark 11:25
"And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

Matthew 6:15
But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Scripture is quite clear on what happens if we hold unforgiveness to others. We won't get forgiven by God.

Hi Rebecca,
Jesus died for all sin, sence He died 2000 yrs ago, it must be for all the future sins sence His death. Forgiveness must be always. Can we say Im saved but not forgiven? Not possible...Im saved, that means Im forgiven. You cannot be unforgiven and be saved. Thats why we need to be set free from sin, our sins not counted, so we can be saved.

From this day forward, no one ask God to forgive them for anything. Because Lisa and Duane have spoke and said we don't need to ask God to forgive us anymore. 2. God wants to help us in every espect of life. His teachings in Scripture are to not only build our faith but to live better life's as believers. Everything is for our own good. Everytime we sin, we feel the conviction and know it is wrong. God helps us through the Spirit as a continuing help till we do die. In the day of the Lord Jesus Christ we will glorify our bodies. Our bodies will be clean for good.

Rebecca, Duane is right. We are fogiven for all our sins. We are not under the law anymore. God knows we will sin, and confession is for our own good. It does not sent us to hell if we don't it only helps our faith more when we do. We cannot change the new inner nature of the soul. Everything we do is for our good. confession, walking in the spirit, studying God's word. It builds our faith more. It strenthens us as believers. It does not help God. It helps us.
---Lisas on 2/26/07

Because of the sins you've commited today, would be a good reason. When you first got saved, you asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins. He did and set you free from those sins. You asked forgiveness for your past sins. Not for the sins you haven't commited yet. But if you believe that you don't need to ask for forgiveness that is you. The bible says if you believe a lie, you'll be damned. Answer my question please from my reply before yours.
---Rebecca_D on 2/26/07

2. When we repent, it helps us not only in bringing it to the Father, but it helps us not feel guilty of that sin. The enemy wants to make us guilty. When a true believer is in sin, and stops and does not confess and knows he should, he begans to even doubt his own salvation, then begans to work less for Christ. It effects his life and his work for Christ. That is what is wrong with unconfess sin. When other's see us, we are not good examples as we should be. So it is for our own good that we confess.
---Lisas on 2/25/07

3. God loves you Rebecca, and knows all about you. He didn't make a mistake. He never does. He knows all, from beginning to end. Nothing we do will ever surprise HIM. But we still have to live our life's and now in Christ, we have a helper, the Spirit who convicts us when we do wrong. Who guides us to all truth, but not all in a second, we are learning as we grow in Christ. All the work of God.

Every single person Rebecca, has some sin in him. The Sovereign God of the Universe knows that and He still saved you. He doesn't have to know what is ahead later, He already knows it now. He is not waiting to see what you are going to do with your life, He already knows even when you will die and how you will die. All things that are ahead of us none of us know, but He does. We know its a battle because we are now living our lives in Christ. God is not living His life as us, He is infinite.

Hi Rebecca,
Why would I ask to be forgiven?? Do we ask for a gift? if so, its not a gift. Jesus never asked our opinion if He could shed his blood, He just did it for the forgiveness of sin. He took sin away, not counting mens sins against them. If your set free and dead to sin, what are you asking forgiveness from?
All sin is past, the future isnt here yet.
---duane on 2/25/07

Duane; what about the sins you haven't commited yet? Those sins aren't forgiven, because you haven't asked yet. God can't forgive unless one asks. The bible says IF we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us...No Jesus doesn't need to die again, once was enough. Catherine, someone must have struck a nerve with you based upon your answer of sin is, "Constantly, putting people down because of their beliefs."
If your beliefs are wrong then it would be sin to NOT tell you.
Sin is rebellion against God's revealed will.
If someone is in error of God's Written Word then it is sin because His will is revealed.
If you are in error/sin and will not forsake it then it is as the sin of witchcraft.
This is more serious than just having feelings hurt.

Let the Holy Spirit do his job and "convict the world of sin."

We,the Body of Christ are commissioned to continue the work Jesus Christ Started. How do you suppose the Holy Spirit convicts of sin,if it isn't uttered out of the mouths of His Saints. Faith comes by hearing as well as conviction of sin through the Word of God. *Romans 16: 25-27 The TRUTH (THE WORD) hurts and people will accuse of being unloving. Jude: 21Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

22And of some have compassion, making a difference:

23And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
