mima-I've heard many stocking up on basic items such canned food, dehydrating things, and knowing who to trust etc. We can only pray and ask God in our own individual situations for guidance. Preparation out of Godly warning is not fear. We can only do what GOD allows us to do, and trust Him to do the rest. Take care.

With the slide beginning to get slippery, what do you expect to see out of this economy?
1. A mild recession
2. A serious recession
3. A collapse of the economy. Soup kitchens and dire circumstances.

Janet, There are just as many secular fanatics as religious ones.

A seculalist bans a book for being 'politically incorrect'

>A right wing fundamentalist bans a book for being 'immoral.'

>At the end of the day its all the same thing.

A secularist goes to court to have the 10 commandments removed

r>A right winger sues to have fossils removed form a musium for being 'offensive.'

Both are fanatics, both are the same thing.

Our founding Fathers were God fearing people. And God blessed this nation, for many generations. Today Christians are slowly losing their rights. Some of this is the result of sleepy Christians. While you have been sleeping Satan has sneeked in. What do you think God is going to do with you on Judgment Day?

Thomas Jefferson's letter basically said we couldnt establish a state religion which I agree with 100% but when it's used to say that people of faith should not be allowed into the public arena I adamantly disagree with that interpretation of separation of church and state. The government shouldnt be totally influenced by secularism.
---janet on 1/22/08

Janet- Your statement about Henry VIII and protestant history I agree with 100%-Religion was a tool of corrupt political powers.-basic history.

I am Amerian, and would venture to say anyone who says c and s should mingle does not know the Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson, or the Constitution. Your statement may be relevent if you are not American.

Mixing religion and politics corrupts both.
---MikeM on 1/21/08

In China all religions except the official religion are persecuted, Buddhist- Baptist or shinto, all ruthlessly hunted, perssecuted the only official religion allowed is Marxism.

As to revivals-Americans love revivals, religious or otherwise. Do they make people/society better? I dont know. I do know secularism makes society/people worse.
---MikeM on 1/21/08

MikeM ... Janet is quite right aout the Reformation.
And one of the things that Luther taught was something that Henry seized upon ... The Divine Right of Kings.
hardly separation of church and state!
---alan_of_UK on 1/21/08

mikem,
Henry VIII broke from the RCC because the Pope would not allow him to divorce his wife and marry Ann Boleyn. That is where the Anglican Church came from. Once he made himself head of the Church of England, everyone had to sign the document or be charged with treason---not exactly separation of church and state. Anyone who thinks you can separate c and s doesnt have an understanding of either.

Someone asked why the church thrives in times of persecution? Perhaps because the line is clear, this is what Christ said, that is what earthly power says. There is a clear choice to be made. We cannot sit around and debate the finer points of theology, but must make a choice, earthly life or eternal life. Which will we chose?

We do not have to fear our churches or are love for God be under attack because it is already under attack gone from our schools are pray gone from are court buildings are the Ten Commandants gone is are right to pray at sporting events and slowly are courts are taking our Lord God out of everything that God has indowed us with

Duane-Please line up the OT/NT scriptures- one rapture and one last trumpet chronologically for yourself. Not two second Comings. You will be amazed at how and why this doctrine took over the mainstream.

Imminent return of Jesus was not based on early Christian or modern times. We should always be ready die.

Seriously research Post tribulation doctrine for yourself. There is alot of Post modern pop theology driven by comfort $$. Many people have their own presupositions.
---yochanon on 1/17/08

I wonder??? Under, the persecution of Death WILL YOU DIE FOR HIM?
I Doubt it, you can't even stand up for him Now, Letting the minority take GOD out of Everything!
Stand Strong & Endure Brothers & Sisters.
The day is coming, A day like no other, Worse than the days of A. Hitler's persecution.
YOU BETTER PRAY TO GOD THAT THEIRS A RAPTURE! I've been a Watchman for 34yrs., the Trumpet of Warning has been given.
---Duane_M on 1/17/08

Lets not forget historically when Christians, RCC or protestant were in control of goverments they were involved in massive persecution. America is a secular form of goverment. I believe in seperation of church and state, the state cannot interfere with the Church's-and the Church cannot interfere with the State, period.
---MikeM on 1/17/08

Many would turn on their friends and family like Jesus said some would in Matthew 24 and other Gospels. Westerners love their comfort. It's sick! Love not the world or anything in it. I John 2:15-17

In modern persecution of Christians in China, many missionaries wish they had taught the post tribulation doctrine instead of the rapture because people were not prepared and looked for a way of escape in the clouds instead standing their ground and depending on Him.

Who would you trust today?
---yochanon on 1/17/08

It is coming. Already some signs. Some strong signs of which most are oblivious to. We do not need to dwell on this too much or you may become depress. But we do need to be aware. We do not need to sit around with our heads in some kind of a bubble. The good news in all of this: GOD IS COMING. And then the wicked man will have to contend with God. We will not have to put up with the wicked man anymore. Praise God. We will let God defend us.

The real church (anyone who truly is born again and serves God) will truly be persucuted before long and I think even our own government will do it.We will have revival then because the church grows and becomes strong when persucution begins. The hyprocrites leave when persucution comes.

Mima, as a SDA, what is it in the bible that I don't understand? Read Col.1:24 and explain that. How about explaining 2Cor.12:7? Reading the bible is not the problem. The problem is testing it for truth. Jesus said He sowed truth (wheat) and Satan (by Paul) sowed lies (tares) and the New Testament is the field. No one gets to heaven beliving a lie. (Rev. 21:8 & 22:15) And yes, EGW was a false prophet just as much as Paul was.
---Dr._Rich on 1/16/08

Janet-Yes Protestants fought RCC in England, it all went back and forth, Protestants and Catholics persecution, killing and persecuting each other. In the final analysis it was not about religion, it was about political power, religion was only a tool in the hands of royalty. The notion of For God and Country was coined by I think Elizabeth. Leaders knew solders fight harder when they are convinced God is with them in their tribal battles.
---MikeM on 1/16/08

Mima-. You wish for persecution, whats the next step beyond wishing? You are what I was hinting at. BTW those people you disagree with do study their Bibles, they interpret it different than you, thus they are in error and must be forced to your particular beliefs. Thats medieval Christianity. You forcing others is what our ancestors did, with dire consequences. You scare me.

The severe persecution that I would wish on the church specially Catholics, Jehovah witnesses, Seventh-day Adventist, United Pentecostal and others would be to force them to read the bible!!
---Mima on 1/16/08

You forgot to mention Protestant persecution of Catholics. Henry VIII in England post-reformation executed many Catholics if they would not sign document that said he was the head of the church. Catholic property was confiscated during this period too.
---janet on 1/16/08

A traditional practice in Christian history is persecution of other Christian sects. RCC persecuting Protestants, Protestants persecution of Protestants, theres 100s of years of this, those claiming to follow Christ involved in some of the worst persecutions in history, torture, execution, corrupt religious regimes, etc. Its basic history 101.

Who will offer the next wave of persecution?

Hint, what groups are wholly intolerant of others beliefs, calling all others but themselves cults?
---MkeM on 1/16/08

Last week in the news: Atheist community is growing. Most of them come from christian backgrounds, complained of church abusive.

-[to read more google Abusive Churches]-

5th. denouncing other churches is common because they see themselves as superior to all other churches.

6th. these churches have a persecution complex and view themselves as being persecuted by the world, the media, and other Christian churches.

That would never happen. Look around at the Church today. Most Church are Worldly Markets that are into persecuteing those who are trully christians just to tickle the ears of their members. Most Churches are so in love with the riches of the World that attract the world. The World is leading the Church in many place around the World today.

I think it's exactly the revival churches would need to get people off the fence and on one side or the other.

People have been persecuted from the moment Cain slew Abel. when faced with standing upright before God, many choose to follow the ways of the world. God has been replaced with idols of money, power, wealth and fame. celebrities are now worshipped by many. people want to be like them, not humble, forgiving, etc as Jesus taught. let me ask this. if you would be killed for your beliefs, would you die or would you betray yourself and God. many profess God, but their actions speak volumes in denial.
---Dave on 3/10/07

people following the teachings of Jesus Christ will be persecuted until the time Satan can no longer influence our lives. Misery loves company. many people are self-righteous and draw near to God with their lips, but their hearts are far from him. they live each day following the world and indulging in sins of the flesh. I have been persecuted for my beliefs, but that only makes my faith and fear of God greater. I would rather have people hate me for following Jesus Christ, then join them in wickedness.
---Dave on 3/10/07

I'm doing a paper on persecution of the church and am enjoying this blog. My question, which I would like to get some feedback on, is why the church seems to thrive or grow in times of persecution? I would also like to agree with John; its all about spiritual warfare. We will see revival when God's people humble themselves, pray and seek his face, repent of their sins and God will hear his people's crys. We really don't need revival though, we need the Reviver. Let me know what you guys think.
---Paipa on 3/9/07

well as the poster of the blog i thought i should input...
I definately believe that servere persecution physically, would do the church in america good, i'm not saying it'll do the people in america good, that would mean extra hard for us to bring them to God...but the church would be strengthen all the false people(however many their are)...people who still believe will be strengthen like madddddddd...

THROWN IN PRISON, If yield to Holy Spirit. Donot pray in public. Don't dare say the words, Jesus, out loud in public. Ofcourse, no preaching in public. Let me tell you my friends, unless we, as God's people, exercise these rights, you are only asking for trouble. [WE, have a blood bought right to be led by the Holy Spirit] Jesus payed for it. He bought us. I could give you more warnings running out of allotted letters. warn. privately same.
---catherine on 2/21/07

It has already begun. The Church is being persecuted and it will get much worse very soon.
---lorra8574 on 2/21/07

We make a big deal about physical persecution but it's the spiritual persecution that taking people down and out.
Out enemy isn't physical, it's spiritual. Much of the church today has little to do with spiritual things and are ignorant of this battle, not even believing in spiritual prayer and song and interecession.
---john on 2/21/07

Fat, lazy, spoiled American Christians who believe that God wants them to be rich and are waiting for the pre-trib rapture will be mown down like wheat when real persecution hits--and it will.

Churches are under persecution it is just more subtle. Apathy and ignorance are the weapons of mass destruction.
---grace3869 on 2/21/07

Well the USA church (Charismatics, Pop-Evangelists, Pentacostals, call them what you like) will continue to battle orthodox, catholics, protestants, muslims, radical Islamists, athesists and democrats. Nothing will really change you'll just hear their complaining get louder and they will become entangled deeper into the world.
---Ryan on 2/21/07

I think the church and people are already,or have already fallen into a trap.our lifestyles have trapped us. or better yet we are in bondage to our lives.homes, cars, all the so called necessities of life.not to mention what we spend on entertainment.gas bills, electric bills, phone bills, cable bills,we are caught in a catch 22
---tom2 on 2/20/07

part 2, I believe that the antichrist time is very close, very close. as I mentioned with all the traps in place today with our perception of what we need in life many will take the mark, then the persecution begins.
