Secular media has shown me just how evil the 'world' is, disallusioned me about politics, shown the greed of people and corporations, how little people care about the welfare of animals, old people, and the environment, and God.On the other hand I have found that video internet sites have a lot of trashy things on them BUT if you go on their search for God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Christian music, etc. there are lots of beautiful good things.

I need to make a retraction. I meant to say "God's reputation" on an earlier post, that the media seems to want to hurt at every opportunity. And, they seem to glory in it. Grinning. We don't worry about ours as long as God is pleased. I see they are still discussing one of Satan's prophets. The media is calling him a prophet of God. Makes me "SICK" I guess they would not dare say, "A prophet of Satan's".

Media>>> If there is a chance to hurt the reputation of God's people it really seems as if they JUMP on it. The media needs to get ahold of some stories of God's people being persecuted, thrown in prison, even in this nation, for serving Him and obeying Him, which goes hand in hand. Some of God's people are sitting on death row. They need to report this stuff and leave of the bad junk about my GOD. Anyone with a little common sinse should know good from evil. God's people V. Satan's people.

The secular media is nothing but negative, and we as christians should not allow this negativity into our minds. We are to have the mind of Christ, which is positive and transforms our lives. I as well am guilty at times. we should havs spiritual discernment about whether we allow certain things in our lives. God should be first in a christians life.

The media has a job to do. Everything affects people today. I set boundaries. I do enjoy my tv, cable, internet. But I choose what I look at on tv and other media sources. We live in this world and I do partake of what is available. As long as it does not interfere with my faith.Or cause me to forget about Christ.
I love the World News as well as my Local News. I like to know and keep up with what's going on. The media serves a purpose.

Of course the secular media affects people's family. Just turn the TV on and you will know what I am talking about. Ops.

We have TV's in the house and the internet, plus there's a real world out there. There is no way to avoid it. Are we going to go with the world, or stand fast (indure) in christ, until the end? It's all our freedom of choice. There is a price on either end. Pay now (abide in Christ) or pay later (Hell) . Jesus was crucified, and we must crucify the flesh. May the Lord give us His grace to indure. God bless.

Secular media uses your senses of seeing and hearing.Bringing in the world inside of you, and thus making your flesh/carnal side to be stronger. Faith comes by hearing the word of God, therefore hearing secular content acts as an erosion of our faith. The more strong our flesh becomes we see the changes/effects in our spiritual lives.

I might add that scripture tells us to be in the world but not of the we will be perceived as odd, crazy, nuts, religious fanatics, just too name a few. THANK YOU JESUS iAN A FANATIC FOR YOU.

The media doesn't affect you? Why? What type of car do you drive? What gasoline do you use? Why? What restaurant do you dine? Why? What barsoap do you use? Why? What computer/software do you use? Why? What books do you read? Why? What toys do you buy? Why? How do you feel when you listen to certain mews events? Why? What church do you attend? Why? Do you follow the majority of Christians? Why?

ted, it is very hard tioday in our society to not be,movies, music, entertainment.folks who say they are christian get more excited about a football game than church.our jobs, bigger better homes, cars, more stuff have taken over our lives.planning for retirement with portfolios, all these things and more while people in third world countries suffer for basic needs.
---tom2 on 2/22/07

part2 ted, no wonder people aren,t satisfied ,aren,t content.they are living a life planning, and making idols out of all their pessessions, and desires totally outside of Gods will and plan for his creation.and they wonder and ask questions as to why things aren,t making their life right ,or giving them peace.
---tom2 on 2/22/07

Garbage in, Garbage out. Jesus did say take heed to what you listen to.
It does NOT effect my family, but I can see how it does others.

I guess it comes down to whether you consider being a Christian is just being a good person or being "a child of God". The Bible teaches us that we become what we feed upon. Most of the secular media promotes Humanism, Capitalism, Atheism and Existentialism all deceptive philosophies bidding for our attention. If this is what we choose to feed upon don't for a minute consider that you are nourishing 'a child of God'.

Newspapers and TV (and now blogs) are the most influential of media. They influence the way you think. Why do you suppose marketing and media companies spend millions of dollars to find ways to influence people to buy and to sway your thinking about current events. Most major media are liberal in their thinking. For instance, the media hates Bush. They make the economy look bad, but, in fact, he grew the economy more than Clinton could ever do.
---Steveng on 2/21/07

I didn't really think it had any affect, by I have noticed that as my kids get older, they seem to know more about things, good and bad, than I ever would have had exposure to as a kid.
