Exzucckh "Spiritual bodies in heaven" Where in the bible does that say we go 2heaven in spirit when we die? Gen2:7 breath/spirit goes back 2God who breathed in2 Adams nostrils the breath of life and man bcame a LIVING SOUL.Read Job34:15 n Ecc12:7 All flesh shall perish 2gether, n man shall turn again unto dust.

Dave: I'm still waiting for the lat., long. I should be able to spot those flaming swords on hi-res satellite imagery.

Ryan: The soul (living creature) is a combination of dust and the "breath of life" from God. At death, the dust returns to the earth and the breath (same for animals) returns to God. A box can be made of wood and nails. When the nails are removed, what happens to the box? IT CEASES TO EXIST. But, the Master Builder remembers exactly how to construct the box.

Exzucuh, resurretion of the dead is quite an impossible thing for the fleshly humanist to understand, but it is not impossible with God and that is the central theme of what the bible presents in regards to death. I have faith in the resurrection because it is what the bible teaches, I have hope in the resurrection of the righteous becaue it is waht the bible teaches and God certainly shows charity to those in the first resurrection.
---Ryan on 3/7/07

Ryan I am through talking now about this, there is one thing I know, if your doctrine has power it is real, if it brings faith, hope, and charity it is real, If it teaches about the God that can do anything even beyond the impossible it is real.
---Exzucuh on 3/7/07

Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

When heaven and earth become one , the resurrection will take place, the heavenly City will be upon the earth and glorified bodies will come forth for those who were in heaven in Spiritual bodies and those on the earth will be changed in a moment an a twinkling of an eye,
---Exzucuh on 3/7/07

1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

they will come with Jesus from heaven and their resurrected bodies will be glorified and joined to them so they can dwell on the Earth again, as long as they are in heaven they have Spiritual Bodies.

1 Corinthians 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

Exzucuh;"the difference is that I believe Him"? When you don't even know what the "Kingdom"is,how can you believe it? FYI a Kingdom is a King and subjects Christ is the King and ruler Christians are His subjects, not some funny feeling inside you. Jesus said "The Kingdom is within you "KJV in the margin says "or among you, in your midst" With all your learning, get understanding!
---1st_cliff on 3/7/07

Exzucuh; When reading about the transfiguration look closely at vs.9 it says clearly that it was a VISION , do you know what a vision is? like a movie where the actors have long since died! Moses and Elijah were dead. The resurrection had not yet taken place(2Tim.2.18.)"who have wandered away from the truth,They say the resurrection has already taken place, destroying the faith of some".
---1st_cliff on 3/7/07

#1 Exzucuh, I will believe what the bible teaches. The bible teaches a resurrection of the righteous dead so that is what I believe. The bible teaches that we do not sow a new body so that is what I believe. The bible teaches that God will not abandon our souls to Sheol just as Christ's soul was not abandoned to Sheol, so that is what I believe. I suppose you think that conversations across the graet divide between those in Abraham's bosom and those in Sheol are commonplace?
---Ryan on 3/7/07

#2 Exzucuh, Moses and Elijah met Christ at the mount of transfiguration but let us not forget that these two men have some very interesting scriptures written about them. The Archangel Michael came for the body of Moses, Jude, and Elijah was taken in a whirlwind.
---Ryan on 3/7/07

#3 Exzucuh, Do you believe that God is going to take you up in a whirlwind, like He did with Elijah, or are you so great a prophet that the Archangel Michael will be sent to retrieve your body? This is not an issue of pride, this is an earnest effort on my part to dilligently search the scripture for truth.
---Ryan on 3/7/07

---Ryan on 3/6/07
You see, I told you, your going to believe foolishness because of your pride, and not even see how foolish that answer is, lets all get out our telescopes and look at paradise being it is in our solar system.
---Exzucuh on 3/7/07

If you want to believe that you will be trapped in a grave that's your business but I believe in Jesus and what he says, he is the resurrection he made that clear when he raised Lazerath. God is not the God of the dead, Moses met with Jesus
on the mount of transfiguration, the rich man lifted up his eyes in hell to see Lazerath in heaven, so believe a mans doctrine and rot in your grave, but I will be sitting at a table with Abraham and Jesus while you wait on your resurrection.
---Exzucuh on 3/7/07

---1st_cliff on 3/6/07
Have you ever listened to what Jesus says that is the difference in me and you I believe him,
the earth that the kingdom of God is in, is you, you are made from the earth and if you preach the kingdom of God that is comes by the Spirit of God, that you receive if you have that Spirit, those who believe have the Kingdom, and it is in them and through them manifest to the world. The kingdom of heaven is a place that all in heaven dwell, I must Go there it is not in me.

#1 Exzucuh,

Eph 4:10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.)

Hbr 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

#2 Exzucuh, When Jesus went to sit at the right hand of the Father He went beyond the heavens (3rd included) to be in the presence of the Father. The third heaven, that the man went to and heard unspeakable sounds, is appearantly paradise, but it is still within the realm of the earth. Just as Sheol, the garden of eden and all of God's creation as explained in Genesis. He has not brought together heaven and earth in His new creation as explained in the final chapters of Revelation.
---Ryan on 3/6/07

2 Corinthians 12:2-4 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
Paul refered to heaven and Paradise as the same place. saying he was translated there.

Exzucuh; Have you ever prayed "the Lord's prayer" Jesus said "thy Kingdom COME, thy will be dome in earth as it is in heaven" From that alone you can see that the Kingdom encompasses both earth and heaven. So sitting down with anyone in the Kingdom can also extend to he earth! That's scripture not man's doctrine. Paradise is a Persian word meaning park or garden (earthly language not heavenly)

jerry, there is a problem with your theory. Acts 2 says that the Father did not abandon Him in hades or let His body decay. At death the body goes to the grave, the spirit within man goes to God but what happens to the soul?

jerry, where did you receive this info:

"It was taken to Heaven just before the flood."

It would be kind of difficult to bring you a photo my friend since the garden is guarded by cherubim and a flaming sword. The Garden of eden, in the current creation, is located in the realm of the earth. Are you suggesting the new Jarusalem and the new heaven and earth are already in existence as described in the final chapters of Revelation?
---Ryan on 3/4/07

Flesh and Blood cannot enter the Kingdom of God because Gods kingdom is about the Spirit, you have to lay down your flesh and serve God with your spirit. The Spirit of God in you is Gods Kingdom, you are to seek after that violently, Jesus entered Heaven in his Flesh and sprinkled his blood on the mercy seat, his resurrected body is our hope of our resurrection and living again upon the new earth when heaven and earth become one.
---exzucuh on 3/4/07

to say Jesus is a spirit has not read the New Testament when Christ tells his apostles in Luke 24:39 "Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones,as ye see me have." that is so clear that I cannot see how anyone can dispute Christ was resurrected with his own body that he will have forever. read the bible and do not make up your own fantasies.
---Dave on 3/4/07

Ryan: The tree of life, and hence paradise, are inextricably tied (via the river of living water) to the throne of God. That throne is in the temple in the New Jerusalem which comes down from God out of Heaven to the Earth made new after the millenium. ---jana on 3/4/07

It is in the Bible that flesh and blood cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. When Jesus was resurrected it was in "spirit" form. Even with Thomas, for Jesus had to show himself as a person that had been crucified for him to believe it. The rest of them did not recognize him, until he spoke to them. As for the body of Jesus, I believe God done something with it, just as He did with Moses' body.
---Johnny_5j on 3/4/07

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, In heaven we have a Spiritual Body, Jesus demonstrated how easy it is to be transfigured or metamorphosed on the Mount of transfiguration when he went from flesh to Spirit right before their eyes and talked with Moses and Elijah who were both in spiritual bodies.

jerry6593, My friend what you quote in Revelation 22 happens after this:

Rev 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer {any} sea.

We are discussing the current creation not the new haeven and new earth. In the current creation the tree of life is placed in the midst of the garden of eden, on earth, in fact, the tree of life is still there today being guarded by a flaming sword and cherubim.
---Ryan on 3/3/07

Donna: Jesus did not go to heaven on crucifixion Friday. On resurrection Sunday He told Mary "Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father:" (John 20:17) Your entire belief system is based on the misplacement of a comma (the original Greek had no punctuation). Try putting the comma after the word "today" rather than before it in Luke 23:43. It changes the meaning entirely, and thus harmonizes with John 20:17.
---jerry6593 on 3/3/07

Ryan: I disagree with your take on paradise. It is indeed heaven and not sheol, the grave and temporary home of the unconscious dead. You rightly show that the tree of life is in paradise. But, Rev 22:1-5 says that the tree of life spans a river, the source of which is the throne of God. Further, v. 5 says that God is present there and is the light of it. Thus, paradise can only be Heaven. The bosom of Abraham is obviously a metaphor in the midst of a parable, and not at all a literal place.
---jerry6593 on 3/3/07

Johnny 5: Looks like you got some input. That the dead are unconscious is one of the most thoroughly established doctrines of the Bible. Every time a king died in ancient Israel, it is recorded that he "slept with his fathers." Solomon (who was wiser than all of us) said that "the dead know not anything" (Ecc 9:5). Jesus Himself confirmed this doctrine when He spoke of Lazarus' death as a sleep (John 11:11-14). The resurrection makes no sense if the dead are actually alive.

#1 Let's look at this place called Paradise also refered to as Abraham's Bosom. The two scriptures that really shed some light on the subject are Revelation 2:7 and Genesis 2:9.

Rev 2:7 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.'

#2 Gen 2:9 Out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
---Ryan on 3/2/07

#3 So as we can see this place called paradise is in the garden of God. The garden of God is not in heaven. God planted a garden in the east when He created earth. So, paradise or the "Garden of God" is in the realm of the earth. Jesus did not ascend to heaven when He died, He went tot he Garden of God which is where all believers sleep until the resurrection.
---Ryan on 3/2/07

The thief did go to paradise, but that is not heaven. The same way as the spirit prison is NOT heaven. Not one person will return to our Father in Heaven in HIS kingdom until after the resurrection and judgement where we will have to account for our lives on the Earth. To say anything else defeats the whole plan of salvation. It means we can sin, murder, etc and return to God unblemished. Read the bible and you will see it is simple, not complicated as many make it out to be on here.

donna, you have focused on one thing that I have said, "Paradise is in Sheol." I may be wrong I may be right in this one issue, but this is not the central theme of our discussion. We are talking about what happens at death, and you are ignoring the myriad of scripture that says all men die and await resurrection. No where in the bible is there support for your theory that when you die you go to heaven.
---Ryan on 3/2/07

jerry 6593, Thank you I like that scripture as well. The "You go to heaven when you die" crowd certainly has difficulty with Acts 2:34.

donna6598, You do agree that humans are composed of body, soul and spirit? We know, from scripture that at death the spirit returns to GOd (Most likely this is the part that goes to paradise/Abraham's bosom). We know that the body turns to dust. So my question is: Where does the soul go? It appears that I may be wasting my time asking you questions because you never answer them.

Ryan, Jesus said to the thief on the cross, Today you SHALL be with ME in Paradise. So where did Jesus and the thief go? Heaven.
If our lives are to be like Christ on this earth, then why isn't our death to be like His death? We die, our spirit goes to heaven like Jesus's went to heaven, "Father into your hands I command my Spirit," and then we rise again on resurrection day, the body is reconnected to the spirit JUST LIKE JESUS WAS on HIS resurrection day.
---donna6598 on 3/2/07

Ryan, none of those scriptures say that Sheol is in Paradise. Your theology is messed up and I'm sorry about that. Jesus said to the thief on the cross. TODAY YOU SHALL BE WITH ME IN PARADISE. Ryan, you do realize in Job Chapter 42:3 that Job admitted: "therefore have I uttered that I understood NOT;" You can't just take scripture out of context like you are doing here. He made him repent and then Job said, "I thought I knew you Lord, but I didn't until now" And Job repented and said: Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes. Your turn to repent Ryan.
