What Is God's Perfect Will

Is there such a thing as the perfect and the imperfect will of God? My friend said she feels that God is telling her that it is His perfect will for her to stay in her current job but that it would be okay (his imperfect will?) for her to take this new job she has just been offered.

I don't believe God has an imperfect will.
I have heard that phrase used for many years.
I have not found it in the Bible. Do you think that's another way of saying, I'll use my free will and wing it. Launch out into the deep and see if I can stay afloat?
Why would you want anything but God's perfect will? Isn't that why we get down on our knees and ask God for His perfect will in every situation?

God is not double minded. The scripture about the Good, Perfect, and acceptable will of God is THREE adjectives describing his one will for our lives. We are either in the will of God or in our own will. He has one will. We have ours and whether we will choose his.
---Ginger on 4/4/07

There is God's perfect will and then there is a permissive Will. We either choose his perfect will or we chose his permissive will which is he lets us do what we wont and thats when we get in big trouble choosing our on will

for god so loved the world that he gave his only son, that WHOSOEVER would believe would not perish but have everlasting life.Gods main will is all would come to repentence and accept jesus.thats his will for the human race.his perfect will, his perfect plan, his new convenant with the world.I have never asked God about employement, sorry, but I believe that there are things we need to do and not look for Gods choice of employers,or dinner menus, type of truck I drive.he is more concerned with my spirit.

One finds God's Perfect Will when one submits & surrenders ones complete life to God and begins to completely walk by the Spirit. No longer being led by the human mind but by the Holy Spirit which indwells in every true believer.

Tim7454, You are missing a heart for the saved. Get rid of the pride and show a heart for the saved as well as a heart for the lost. Then maybe you can give direction without judgment. "God hath committed all judgment to the Son." Not you.

If you have come to God in true repentance and you love God with all your heart you will choose and become be nothing less than an ambassador for him, unless of course you are a weed, a false convert, an impostor.
I am sorry but when you are running the race of this faith there is no room for passionless indifference.

"If my heart is not broken for the lost then I am probably not holding God's hand"

As I mentioned earlier no one has a clue what God's will means accept Tom2
Sorry but if your answer does not resemble Tom2 then you are simply dreaming. There is a huge doctrinal problem about this very important subject. Look at the answers below, they contradict each other and are pie in the sky answers. Jesus said "only those who do the will of the Father will go to Heaven" Mat 7:21. So find out what it really means and do it...

I agree with Leslie.

Gods perfect will for humans, is that all would come to repentance, and accept jesus.that all would be saved.

There is such a thing as the perfect will of God, but I think your friend should pray and seek God's answer further. The point is that if you rush into anything you might not be listening to God in any case.
---Junia on 3/14/07

How about this?== Perfect will of God is for man to have peace with God. Through His Son, Jesus Christ. [The only way]
---catherine on 3/14/07

Yes there is, and I will give you some examples: Pray for it to be done on earth as it is stated in Matthew 6:10. We are to seek it as Christ Himself did John 5:30. Understand it. Ephesians 5:17, Do it from the heart. Ephesians 6:6. Live it l Peter 2:11-17. Ask what you will. John 15:17.

I am very sorry but I must say that no one here seems to have a clue what God's will means at all. In Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus made it clear that only those who do the will of Our Heavenly Father will go to heaven. There needs to be a mighty wake-up call in this department....
To know God intimately and to spend your life going to the lost with the gospel is the most accurate Biblical answer to this meaning

There's no such thing as God's imperfect will. The will of God is all encompassing. Your friend was blessed from God if indeed she heard His direction for her life regarding her job. Why would she want to choose any direction other than His? What people call His imperfect will is actually His enormous grace still assisting us when our own decisions have been far less than perfect. Your friend needs to take heed of His direction as there are allways consequences of poor choices.

The perfect will of God, is the word of God, ie. JESUS. Believing in Jesus and his work at the cross of Calvary. John 6:39,40. Have the mind of Christ, he is our role model. Think in faith upon the promises of God. Romans 12:2. Ask anything in faith, in his name and receive it. John 14:12-14 God bless you in Jesus' Name. AMEN

In my own point of view God doesn't give us imperfect will, maybe we can do imperfect plan because of our own will and wrong motives but God is great his plan is all perfect and all his ways...GOd doesn't give us wrong direction but a he's always there to remind us his goodness everyday

Esmy, there are three things about God's will we all need to know;
1. His Perfect will.
This is everything in our hearts is turned to Him with us in the place He wants us to be in doing what He wants done.
2. His Permissive will.
This is like a man going to Bible school to learn to preach. He understands God's Perfect will is for him to preach. God permits him to go to school to learn how.
3. Out of God will.
This is when we refuse to accept what God wants and we go our own way.
---Elder on 3/13/07

esmy. God does not say yes and no to the same question.or say yes and yes to keep your present job and take the new offer, unless God wants her to have 2 jobs.
---tom2 on 3/13/07

Once you know what God wants then it would be disobedient to do it any other way. That doesn't mean God is finished with you, but you just won't get the blessings you otherwise would if you did it God's way.
---john on 3/12/07

This is God's perfect will. The Father's will is that those who believe on the son will have Eternal life and that none will be lost. [John 6.39-40]. Paul urged the Christians at Rome to allow God to transform their minds to know the perfect will of God. [Rom. 12-2].
