I believe that it takes a deep understanding of the Bible, and a deep understanding of the culture in which you plan to minister.

I spent two weeks in a port in Spain, handing out Jesus videos and New Testaments to Moroccans as they travelled home to Morocco from Europe. What made it special was seeing the power of prayer at work during our ministry there.

You have to want to. I have never been a missionary outside of my country, but I have been a witness all my life. We are what most people see as a Bible. We live for Jesus.

Every task that God gives us is a mission reaching the people and bring them back to God.
Somehow getting into a foreign place is the same as you will serve your own people by heart.
Walking with Jesus is a sacrifice for oneself because our desire sometimes contradict the desire of the Lord .Pray so that God will leads you in His path for a mission.

It takes a willing Heart. My missionary work occurred when I was a teanager. It has been spotty since getting older. We have Children from my church go to Mexico year after year. They enjoy it and it teaches them what to expect as a missionary in a foreign country.

The answer is very simple. It takes having
Jesus living IN you that will make you into a Missionary, then He will lead & guide you and give you the Mission He wants you to have. Everything that you do in your Mission field will be special, as He is special to us and we are special to Him( Deut 26:18-19 ) Brian 6933

A missionary is simply someone who spreads the gospel. You do not necessarily need to go on a trip to be a missionary. You can be a missionary in your own city or town. Tell people about the good news of the gospel, and you are are missionary!

tom2.....You are absolutely right. Everytime we go into a prison, jail, homeless shelter, grocery store, restaurant, or just walking around our neighborhood we are missionaries. The Lord opens doors everyday to reach the lost and dying before HE returns. When we see people come to the Lord for the first time or return to the Lord after being away for a long time, it is uplifting and we are encouraged. But, we are joyful that another person has come to the Lord and can receive salvation.

---tom2 had some wonderful answers concerning being a missionary in America. The Scriptures say go ye into all the world, and you can get started doing that by talking to the next person you meet.

larry, I have been on many.central america, and africa, mostly.let me say that people who live without many of the distractions we here in america have seem too me to be closer to God.if only because they are in need and have soooooo many less distractions in their lives.many churches in central america have services 24/7. have seen thousands and thousands saved ,and many miracles of God.

larry let me just say that anytime you approach someone who is lost without jesus and deliver the message to them you are a missionary in my opinion.also if you are saved and help someone,in need you are a missionary. you can be a missionary in your home town.I beleive america is now the greatest mission field there is.why? most people who claim to be save seem lost,or atleast living lost.
