Anorexia Eating Disorder

I think my daughter may have anorexia. How can I pray for her anorexia to leave and what else can I do to help with this eating disorder?

First off, if your daughter does NOT have anorexia nervosa, you can pray it away until you're blue in the face, but something that's not there to start with will never leave.

"Anorexia" is a general term for loss of appetite. There could well be a PHYSICAL reason underlying it. (Simple anorexia, as opposed to anorexia nervosa.)

Only a trained medical professional can diagnose it, and it won't go away with only prayer, either.

Blessings. I would say that in your prayers, just talk to God about your fears and her spiritual health. This is VERY serious and it is a must for you to seek professional help as this can cause death. There are many psyc factors around this affliction but pray against vanity, self focus and many control issues. People pleasing is also an enemy. Pray that she could see out side of herself and reconcile all childhood trauma.

Blessings to you June, I struggled with anorexia for over ten years, and from personal experience I know how devastating this can be. At times I still struggle with it, and the main thing that I had to learn was that food is not your enemy. I would suggest that you get your daughter in Christian counceling because anorexia if untreated can take a toll on your health, or take you away from here. Do not put it off, and PRAY, for God is our great physican, and nothing is impossible for Him. God Bless!

In addition to prayer and fasting to break the curse of anorexia, you should consider professional help.

First pray for her mind. Because the mind is decieving, and Satan can use her weekness against her. Get a small piece of cloth, anoint it and pray to God that he will guide and protect her in everyway. Pin the cloth to her pillow. then rebuke this sickness that is cause by Satan in the name of Jesus. Demand it to leave her body. Remember faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.

First you should pray whatever emotional disturbance she has, God will help her to deal with. Build her up,sincerely. Often is linked to a self-esteem and self-perception problem. Find out if it's pier/media related and try to talk to her. Take her to a counsellor. Then cook food that you know she always enjoyed and offer her some. Stick to healthy foods. Fruit, vegetables etc. Teach her that she was made in the image of God and it is her responsibility towards herself and God to care for her. Junia 6337

First get her a complete physical. Second, take her to an eating disorder treatment facility for an evaluation. They can then recommend what level of treatment is appropriate for her. I was in Outpatient Treatment for my eating disorder and while in treatment, the patients were weighed every day. If the weight dropped too low, they were admitted to the inpatient facility, as too little weight is a serious health risk. That is why she should first get a complete physical, including bloodwork.

June, does your daughter know that Jesus loves her so much that he gave His life so that she may live? If she does not that is what we must pray for. When the Grace of the Lord and His mercy gets a hold of her, weight, figure and the values of this world will fade and she can be healed. If your daughter knows Him, pray with us that the Lord reveal to you what values of this world have a hold of her; that you may pray with her for freedom from their bondage.
