If Mary was sinless why didn't she die on the cross?

Why did we need Jesus?

And where oh where is the sinless woman who had to give birth to Mary, if Jesus being sinless required a sinless Mother wouldn't Mary's sinlessness require a sinless Mother?

Oh that's right, that's why there's the immaculate deception...Right?

The doctrines surrounding Mary are man's attempts to explain what God has done according to their own feeble understanding of scripture.

You want to know why MEN like Jack Caring & your Humble servant challenge defend Protect the honour of our Lords Mother;Because we Honour her as OUR Mother & because what she has done for the unity of Humanity & her sons church, is cement us all to her son, something You howlers will never understand, because like the crowd who Murdered an innocent Man Now want to Crucify a pure Honest Devoted WOMAN yes the one in Genesis God's chosen ONE.

Jesus himself got His blood from his (Father) as all humans do from their father. Mary got her blood from man as all other people do. We all have the Adamic blood flowing in our veins, except for the Lord. The blood of Jesus is thus unique and one of a kind on the face of the earth. This is why Mary, just as the rest of us, needed to be covered by the Blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of her sins.

Pope Jack, I'm curious: which type of Orthodox are you? Russian/Greek or something else all together.
When I was studying Christian doctrines, JND Jelly's book amongst others, theotokos cam up as a major Greek Orthodox doctrine, and they translate it as "God bearer", or maybe "God Born". Prototokos bring yhr Gtrrk for "First born".

**In deed most of the Reformers understood that Mary was ever virgin and held her to high esteem.**

Ulrich Zwingli and Jean Chauvin (known to history as John Calvin) explicitly wrote in favor of the perpetual virginity of Mary.

If there are any who give Mary the worship of LATRIEA due to God alone (and I don't know any), they do so not because of the teaching of the church, BUT IN SPITE OF IT.

Scott: Well said.
---jerry6593 on 4/21/07

Scott, the idea of Mariology was fabricated by later Protestants searching for a reason to remain away from the RCC after the earlier objections went away.

Martin Luther viewed Mary as all Catholics do. He rejected other aspects of the church, but this matter was scripturally sound in his own mind. In deed most of the Reformers understood that Mary was ever virgin and held her to high esteem. They did not worship her, but neither do we.

Deut 4:39, Psalm 100: 3--"The Lord, He is God."

Psalm 118:27--"God is the Lord."

John 20:28--"My Lord and my God." (Thomas to Jesus)

In Luke 1:43, Elizabeth is inspired by the Holy Ghost to address Mary as "Mother of my Lord"--in effect, "Mother of YHVH."

So we see the title MOTHER OF GOD is Biblical.

Let the one who reads understand.

SECOND time of posting.

Deut 4:39, Psalm 100:3--"The Lord, He is God."

Psalm 118:27--"God is the Lord"

John 20:28--"My Lord and my God" (about Jesus)

And IMMEDIATELY after the Incarnation, Elizabeth is inspired by the Holy Spirit to address Mary as "Mother of My LORD"--in effect, "Mother of YHVH." Luke 1:43

So as we see, "Mother of God" is TOTALLY Biblical.

S/he who has eyes to read, let her/him understand.

Mary is indeed blessed amongst women and the earthly mother to Lord Jesus. She accepted and obeyed God's will and never turned back even when the disciples were afraid to show their faces. A sinner like us all. The doctrine and worship around Mary is the culmination of the weakened church in Rome creating Maryology to substitute (replacement theology) for the pagan Roman worship of Diana a false goddess in order to attract and convert more followers. We should always honor Mary but not worship her!

Cathrine Dear::Am I to gather from your statement "Those good for Nothing MEN"there were no women Present?just for the record !!

To those of you whom whole-heartedly believe that Mary was/is sinless, then go and worship her instead of Christ. Believe what you will. but expain these verses, 1 Kings 8:46, Ecc 7:20, 2 Cor 5:20-21, Heb 4:14-15, 7:26. A person can us 1 Jn 3:6 because if one will read vs 2 it says it doeth not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he shall appear we shall be like him for we shall see him as he is. So how can one call Mary sinless? When the bible proves that she wasn't/isn't?
---Rebecca_D on 4/20/07

**Any sensible Catholic understands that. **

Not just Roman Catholics or Orthodox. There are other Christian denominations who have NOT hessitated to use the term THEOTOKOS (Mother of God) in their Christological statements.
---Jack on 4/20/07

Brian, Jesus is God. But acknowledging that Mary is the Mother of God, is to acknowledge Christ's divinity, not hers. Any sensible Catholic understands that. There was a time when the nature of Jesus was attacked by heretics, some claimed that He was only a man and not divine. Theotikos is to claim that the virgin Mary gave birth to God made flesh, not another human prophet.

BrianStafford:Do you have the right to disagree. what God hath joined together let NO Man pull asunder?Do you agree?Genesis 3;15 places Mary & Jesus together, Her seed & warns us that there is His seed either you are with Or against. You cant Have it both ways.Sorry I agree with Barbara.God created Mary for that Purpose & hence became the mother when she was Overshadowed by The Holy spirit & concieved.Remember Jesus was incarnate & saved Us From sin as a Man & Not God.As Man he did not Judge anyone.

Catherine are we to understand that you do not believe the catechism where it says Mary is,"MARY, SINLESS, PERPETUAL VIRGIN, MOTHER OF GOD, QUEEN OF HEAVEN, CO- REDEMPTRESS WITH CHRIST."-

Come on now. There is only one person that has ever walked the face of this earth that was sinless without sin His name JESUS CHRIST. And we killed Him. Those wicked, good for nothing men.
---catherine on 4/7/07

Barbara, you have evry right to dis-agree with me, but I just dont find any scripture
saying that Mary is the mother of God, but many times it clearly says, the mother of Jesus. And we are not supposed to add or take away anything from His Word. Brian 6933
---BRIAN._STAFFORD on 4/6/07

God has no mother, God is before all things existed. Thus the only God Jesus did creat the woman Mary, and Mary did not create Jesus. Mary has no divinity nor pre-existence before her Adamic birth on earth, whereas Jesus being very God created Adam and Mary and all flesh, even as also he alone created all worlds and all life. There is no weaker vessel in the Godhead, only the Everlasting King of kings and the Lord of lords, namely the Almighty Christ, ruler of heaven and earth and things under the earth.
---Eloy on 4/7/07

**Brian I have to disagree with you. If you look at the 'Hypostatic Union' Jesus was/is 100% man and 100% God. So it can be said that Mary is God's Mother,**

This is PRECISELY what the term "Mother of God" has always meant--ever meant--and no more than this.

As I pointed out, Elizabeth was inspired by the Holy Spirit to call her "Mother of YHVH," so the term "Mother of God" is Biblical.

Pharisee::God so loved the world he sent His only begotten son to redeem the world"That is why Mary had no need to die ON the cross But Die she did at the FOOT of the cross even to see the death of Her son in obedience to the Prophecy.

Mima::There are many Catholics who are lax These are the ones who have left. Rather than try to understand the concept & the message. But It is certainly not as you suggest They HAVE to believe.Belief is a personal thing just as you believe & have different Thoughts Of Marys Purity & spotlessness.Same is choice, given to us by God.BTW (Mary was not chosen from the decendants of EVE that is False) God Pre concieved The Woman& gave her to the world when he saw Fit Gen3:15
---Emcee on 4/6/07

Brian I have to disagree with you. If you look at the 'Hypostatic Union' Jesus was/is 100% man and 100% God. So it can be said that Mary is God's Mother, Jesus IS God, part of the Trinity.
---NVBarbara on 4/6/07

Edna:: You acknowlege Mary as being a Good human being, yet decry her as sinful.GOD DOES NOT CREATE SIN & that is what you are suggesting.God has the ability to predistinate what ever He concieves. This He did in the case of Mary & the coming of Jesus & declared it.Gen3/15 Therefore she was Pure, sinless Immaculate to recieve the seed of God through the Holy Spirit.Nothing is impossible to God who created the world in 6 days. Its mans lack of understanding & perception that is the stumbling block.

Mary was an ordinary woman who happens to be the blessed among women chosen to bear a child, Jesus Christ the son of God.
She was a woman of faith who happens to love God and obey Him with all her heart and soul.
But she was not a sinless human being.

Firstly, Mary was and is not the mother of God. She was the mother of the Man Christ Jesus who was God in the flesh. No, she did not have to be sinless, and she was not sinless.
---Helen_5378 on 4/6/07

Mary was not & is not the Mother of God, but was the Earthly Mother of Jesus, who was an ordinary human-being, and a sinner like all of mankind, for the Bible says ALL have sinned.. (Rom3:23) Brian 6933.
---BRIAN._STAFFORD on 4/6/07

Pharisee:Regret to disagree with your post.Being sinless does not make you divine,or perform miracles. John the Baptist was sinless,he preached Repentance Peter was a fisherman,& sinner, but made a lame man walk. A&E were sinless But flubbed up.Mary didnt but she is still persecuted by Christians no less.WHY???she is Jesus earthly mother. She always points the way to her son & takes no credit she is the emblem of Humility.

Pharisee, being sinless is not the same as being divine. We are all called to be free from sin, that is why Jesus died on the Cross for us. Col 1:24 is translated in a variety of ways, but commonly it suggests that Paul is making up something that is lacking in Christ's sufferings. The only thing lacking from Christ's perfect, once and for all sacrifice, is our response. We complete what Christ did by striving to be perfect as the Father in Heaven is Perfect. Matthew 5:48.
---lorra8574 on 4/5/07

What "Mother of God" DOES NOT mean: progenitrix of the divine nature.

What "Mother of God" DOES mean: Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human in one single person; what He experienced as man He experienced as God (and vice versa) in the Incarnation. It's about who JESUS is.

According to Luke 1:43, Elizabeth was INSPIRED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT to call Mary, in effect, "Mother of YHVH." For Who else is Lord save He?
---Jack on 4/5/07

No, that's a rediculous notion. She was an ordinary girl who happened to love God. If she was sinless like Jesus why didn't she just turn the water to wine instead of asking him to do it?
---Pharisee on 4/5/07

No. All people are born into sin. No one was or is sinless except Jesus Christ. God chose Mary because she was favor among all women.

In order to be accepted and Catholics must believe the following," From among the descendants of Eve, God chose the Virgin Mary to be the mother of his Son. "Full of grace," Mary is "the most excellent fruit of redemption" : from the first instant of her conception, she was totally preserved from the stain of original sin and she remained pure from all personal sin throughout her life"
