Many murders were committed in the bible. Moses was a murderer. David was a murderer. Why are we any different? You can murder another with your tongue. A liar is a murder. So why are people so down on abortion. Murder comes in many forms.A thief will lie, steal and kill. How many people(including Christians)(do this daily. We need to have compassion and understanding towards those who may really be in need of an abortion. I do not condone abortions for birth control purposes and just to be ridding oneself of an unwanted baby. It special cases(lifethreatening)(rape)(incest) I would opt for abortion, perhaps.
I would rather see an unwanted child aborted than brought here to be used and abused. Then grow up and be a serial killer, rapist etc...
---Robyn on 6/18/09

Wow, i just read this entire thread and I am amazed and saddened.
Deuteronomy 30:19 says,
This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.
Choose life!
A child is an inheritance of the Lord...in the case of rape, incest or whatever the situation, a child is God reminding us that life is His to choose. The gift of a baby is, not a reward for doing it right, but a life lesson that God sees each of us and says, "I believe in you! I love you enough to give you a gift."
We are responsible for what we do with that gift.
A lump? No, a baby!! A child. A life. A gift.
---Kim on 6/18/09

A baby has all the potential for making all the difference in our world, in our culture...in our heart.
What would just our military be like, for example, if we hadn't killed so many of our future soldiers?
Or ever wonder why it's so difficult for many to find their mate? Could it be because they were aborted?

God has shown us His face in the face of a child...thank God, Mary didn't decide to abort the Christ Child...
---Kim on 6/18/09

geiselle, god bless you. you will soon find out why children are a gift and a blessing. maybe god as called you to be an advocate in some manner for pro-life? peace

It's good to know that there are still people who value life and the teachings of the Bible. Being 6 months pregnant, I was about to get depressed after having a conversation with co-workers who are pro-abortion. In my mind I thought, what has happened to this world? Why are the "right" things suddenly are "wrong" and vice versa. When you've experienced God's love in your life, the thought of abortion won't ever come into your mind. The thought of killing an innocent life won't even be an option. It is important that us Christians continue to do what we are tasked to do and that is to spread that love that God had given us.

J-sus is life, and His life is the Light of men. In Him is Life and through Him do we have life. In Jeremiah G-d say that He called Him from the Womb, that in the womb He knew His name. David says I am fearfully and wonderfully made. When Mary went to Elizabeth the Baby in Elizabeth's (John the Baptist) womb leaped for joy because of the baby in Mary's womb(J-sus). The G-d of the Bible is the G-d of Life, Life and not Death. Only by demonic oppression can someone read the Bible and see anything else. G-d Bless

To Whosoever has an ear to hear?

There are those who wish to make their arm flesh, to force & govern the physical liberties of others in God's Word, instead of trusting prayer & believing that the Word of the Lord is all that's needed to spiritually enlighten someones soul!!!

Some followers are able to discern this and some are not. The lack of discernment is why we are not in one accord on how to proceed, when it come to abortion.

We are not commanded to force the world under the cross that we bear but are told to share the good news. Forced indoctrination is something of this world and we have not received nor are we sharing the spirit of this world, but the spirit which is of God.

pro-choice is the smooth word for pro-murder ...where the irresponsible duo for creating life just takes it out
---Rhonda on 6/5/08

Pro-choice is a strange phrase, like ' little Big Bang'. It makes no sense when you think of it. Like, a murderer has choice, he can murder or not. But does the victim have a choice????? Abortion is not about choice it is about brutally inflicting on an innocent victim your own pre-determined cause of action. I don't see much choice there, except of course for the 'grown up' who is usually little more than a child herself. Sometimes it is government encouraged.
---frances008 on 6/4/08

Yes indeed who cares about Christian 'views' on abortion, or other issues. As Christians we are to be submitted to God's Word which is above mere opinion.

Abortion is murder. Is that true because I say so? Definitely not, it's true only because our God, our creator & redeemer says so.

He wants our obedience, not our opinions.

In a rape resulting in pregnancy only one of those involved is truly innocent. And that's the one who gets killed. What did the baby do to deserve this?
---Warwick on 5/2/07

christian views?where heres Gods view by his word. God considers the unborn INN OCENT BLOOD and its a sin to take the life of such a person.Gods word also tells us God knows us before we were formed in our mothers womb.

Thanx Catherine. Abortion really is the great moral issue of our time. If our society denies the right to life for one class of humans, then nobody is safe. Already, abortion-supporters like the anti-theist Peter singer are advocating infanticide and euthanasia.
---Ktisophilos on 4/22/07

The fact is even when people are aware of the full facts of how these poor babies are torn out of the womb by people who are employed to also care for people in the same breath, one can see that the scripture that talks about having good/bad fruit coming from one tree being impossible with God, Many will still say in the name of rape Murder is acceptable, ignoring the golden rule of TWO wrongs don't make a Right!

abortion is legalized murder since 1973 in the USA.Matthew 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt NOT KILL; and whosoever shall KILL shall be in danger of the judgment: JESUS CHRIST SAID THIS. Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD HATE: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: Proverbs 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and HANDS that SHED innocent blood, ONE OF THESE THINGS THE LORD HATES HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD UNBORN CHILDREN ARE ONE. THE OTHER WAS THE LORD.

Mary claims that we should not judge the women who have abortions. But evidently she is happy to allow women to be judge, jury and executioner of their unborn for the horrendous "crime" of being unwanted.

Similarly for the nonsense "I'm personally opposed, but I can't impose my views on others"? This is as crass as "I'm personally opposed to slavery, but I can't impose my views on slave owners." Both examples forget that there is another person involved.
---Ktisophilos on 4/21/07

I hope you all saw how Hillary Klinton, B. Hussein Obama and John Edwards railed against SCOTUS. These would be Democrat presidents are so fanatically pro-abortion that they even want to keep the grotesque partial birth abortion legal.

OK all abortion is grotesque, torturous and despicable, but in PBA the baby is almost out of the mother's body before its brain is sucked out. This is hardly a woman's right!
---Ktisophilos on 4/21/07

The charge of hypocrisy works both ways: i.e. those opposed to war to take out a mass-murdering despot are hypocritical for supporting war against innocent unborns. Those whinging about torture at Gitmo are hypocritical when they support tearing apart unborns without anaesthetic.
---Ktisophilos on 4/21/07

It is also crass to claim that GWB was just after oil. Fact: most Dem politicians including the Klintons agreed at the time that Saddam had WMDs and had proven that he was prepared to use them.

And if the Bushes really wanted oil, Kuwait's was there for the taking. The UN oil-for-food scandal showed that it was really the nations who wanted to keep Saddam that were motivated by oil!

It's also disgraceful that so many Democrats actually want America to lose in Iraq. In FDRs time, once the Americans had entered the war, even his Republican Isolationists joined him in striving for victory.

And today's media were reporting WW2, they would have lost it for us. E.g. "The D-Day landings on Omaha Beach incurred over 3,000 casualties in the first few hours, and they are still pinned down by crack German troops. Time to pull out and negotiate peace."
---Ktisophilos on 4/21/07

Good point Mark- may I add something? We of the western nations who so happily embrace killing unborn children must be a stench in God's nostrils. In Genesis 4:10 (Cain killing his brother Abel)God says '... Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.' As God reacted this way to one murder how must God weep for the million + innocents who are aborted yearly in the USA alone!

We must be very concerned as to God's attitude towards us & less concerned as to what the world thinks of us.
---Warwick on 4/21/07

Mary, i love it how you think you know exactly what Bush's intentions are...except you forget the part where he gets on his knees everyday and asks God for guidence..yes our God...God needed something to happen in the world and he needed george bush..., and even if we are the most hated nation, i could care less as long as we arent aboring anymore babies
---mark on 4/20/07

As an Australian I'm very glad we have the USA as an ally & a force for good in our troubled violent world. Having travelled the world for 40+ years I'm well aware there is no perfect nation but the USA has worked hard & at great cost to keep the world free from various types of tyranny such a Communism & Nazism. It's now in a life & death struggle with militant Islam which seeks too control the world for Allah.

God bless America.

We've drifted somewhat from the topic of this thread!

Why in the world would Israel be the most hated nation in the world? What for being a tiny nation fighting for its very survival against large Muslim nations which have stated their aim is to wipe Israel from the face of the earth.

I really wonder at some peoples sanity.

Where does such malignant nonsense come from?
---Warwick on 4/21/07

Actually, Israel is probably the most hated nation on the planet but the U.S. is right up there. It doesn't seem to stop the rest of the world from accepting disaster relief, food, supplies and billions of dollars to combat AIDS and other diseases. BTW, what does any of this have to do with abortion Mary? The answer is nothing, but when a discussion isn't going the way that liberals like, the strategy is to shift the discussion away from the topic at hand. I understand.

Mary>>> If the wicked has their way there won't even be a world let alone an America. I am telling the truth, I was lost for a very long time and I didn't realize what a shape this world was really in till I got saved and my eyes open. Right now it seems as if the devil is winning, but you know what, God's day is coming.
---catherine on 4/20/07

Hi Mark; okay, you seem to also feel we should be the world's police, but I completely (and respectfully) disagree with you on that. Our President has made us pretty much the most hated nation on the planet--and let's face it, he's in this for the oil or personal gain--do you see us in Darfur, fighting for them? I feel bad for people all over the world but America's President should deal with AMERICA'S problems first--the country that voted him in should take first priority to him.

Mary, how pro-life was it of us to allow the kurds to die ruthlessly, when there was no way for them to defend themselves or get out of the position that they were it...I'm pretty sure it was pretty pro-life to liberate them from the hand of saddum hussein, even if the WMD's werent found
---mark on 4/19/07

Perhaps you should try again Mary. Your comments about the president really don't make any sense.
---ralph7477 on 4/19/07

Bush went to war to remove a mass-murdering despot. The Democrats advocate war agaist innocent unborns. No contest.

SCOTUS's upholding of the ban on partial birth abortion is why America needs a president who will appoint originalist judges. All the Dem candidates support partial birth abortion, and would appoint judges who would invent liberal "rights" from penumbras upon emanations from the Constitution.
---Ktisophilos on 4/19/07

Hi; just to make it more clear (unlike my first post lol), I am obviously NOT blaming Bush for my brother's death--but I do know how countless sisters and brothers are feeling now after American and Iraqi lives have been ended--now how "pro-life" is that?

I agree that pro-lifers should get the vote first; my question is this: what has our "pro-life" President done for this country--and for the countless deaths that have resulted because of him? I have a big brother--but only one, because one was murdered in '81 and I still miss him.
---Mary on 4/18/07

Politicians and political parties that are pro-abortion should NOT get a Christian's vote. The right to life underlines all other rights. I.e. there is no point having a right to housing, a job, education if you are not alive to enjoy that right.
---Ktisophilos on 4/17/07

Some whinge that pro-lifers impose their beliefs on others. However, *all* laws impose moralitylaws against murder and rape impose on murderers and rapists the moral view that murder and rape are wrong!

In reality, the only question is *Whose* morality should be imposed? The pro-abortionist has no qualms about imposing his pro-abortion morality on the unborn babies, if they have committed the capital crime of being unwanted.
---Ktisophilos on 4/17/07

Abortion murders babies.

Rebekah's two SONS (Heb. banim) were struggling in her womb, not two clumps of tissue (Gen. 25:22).

When Elizabeth visited Mary, her BABE (Gk. brephos) leapt in her womb, not a "product of conception", because the "mother of my Lord" (at that time a newly conceived embryo) was present (Luke 1:41).

King David said he was "sinful from the time my mother conceived 'ME' (not a cell that later became 'me')" (Ps. 51:5).

Spot on Ralph, when indeed did evil become a matter of opinion.

Ours is such an opinion based age where opinion seems to be more important, even to some Christians, than God's commands.

Maybe we need more time spent in reading His Word and prayer and less developing opinions. Jesus wants our surrender not our opinions.

At one time during my career, I was a medical transcriptionist. The medical history of the clients is part of the record. Many women reported having abortions, some numerous abortions. They were all reported for birth control and nothing else.
---Susie on 4/16/07

When did evil become a matter of opinion?
---ralph7477 on 4/16/07

Mary: True, Christians disagree over many different issues. For example, some of us are for capital punishment & others are against it. Government executions of convicted murderers is justice served. But, we can disagree agreeably about capital punishment. But, murdering (aborting) innocent children is an issue where there's no middle ground. It's callous, diabolical & heinous murder!

Paul & Barbabas' disagreement wasn't that serious...had nothing to do with abortion (murder).

Peace. :)

NurseRobert-I live in Australia and the state of South Australia gathered statistics on the reason for abortion. Abortion was legal there when the long term statistics were compiled so people had no reason to give a false reason. The results showed that 95%+ of abortions were for convenience or reasons of ecomomy. Only .07% were for reasons such as rape. A Czechoslovakian study showed it to be .03%!

I am sure you could look this up on thhe wweb.
---Warwick on 4/15/07

Further, women who have given birth under these circumstances (rape or incest) have often faired much better because of the time given to them to heal and the experience of the new life that results - whether or not they choose to keep that child.

There are many famous people who were the product of rape but were allowed to live by their mothers, some who were given up for adoption and others raised by their own mothers. Rebecca Wasser Kiessling is one such woman who is also a Pro-Life speaker.

Leon: just because we have different viewpoints (and mine is not really different--I don't believe in abortion just for convenience!) does not make only one of us a Christian. Look at Barnabus and Paul when they split up--both were passionate believers who disagreed.
---Mary on 4/15/07

If a woman was raped and she told the Police and went to the DR for an exam, if the Doctor preforms an DNC on the woman, I don't see where that would be wrong. Just in case if the raper got her pregnant. We all have opinions on this subject. But it is the woman's choice to have this procedure done. If God can forgive a person for doing this, then why can't we? Instead we judge and point fingers.
---Rebecca_D on 4/15/07

Ironically, though not surprisingly, there is a movement called Silent No More which is made up of former victims of incest and rape who did conceive and were aggressively encouraged to seek abortions as the solution to their forced pregnancies. While not necessariy true of all victims, many are coming forward to reveal that the abortion was like being violated a second time and that the long lasting repurcussions are worse than if they had given birth.
---lorra8574 on 4/15/07

I have known several couples who were faced with a decision about saving the life of the mother or the unborn child or whether or not to keep a pregnancy where the baby "might" be physically/mentally disabled. In every case, after much prayer, the child was born and there was nothing wrong with that child.

Surely right & wrong are not about human opinions but about what God says. Otherwise right & wrong becomes a human game of might is right. In the scheme of things God isn't interested in our opinions but in our obedience. Surely when we claim to be Christian we are stating that we have surrendered our lives to His control, without negotiation. Opinions irrelevant.

Abortion is wrong because Gods says it is.
---Warwick on 4/15/07

Mary, if you want to talk about the pain of individuals maybe we should consider the pain that an unborn baby feels when it's being pulled apart by surgical tools or being sucked through a vacuum tube. Or maybe babies are like fish and feel no pain. Too many people think they are compassionate but when it comes to helpless babies it's every child for themselves. How Christ-like is the person whose attitude is "Good luck kid, we'll start caring about you if you make it out alive".
---ralph7477 on 4/15/07

jana....You obviously don't know too many mentally challenged people. As the step-parent of a developmentally disabled adult, I can say that he did not need to be killed before he was born. There is no way to ever know for sure the condition a baby will be born in until it is born. Hitler had the same idea you have about killing intellectually handicaped people and he killed thousands of them of all ages.

Everyone has their own beliefs. I believe it is wrong to have an abortion. God says thou shalt not kill. Abortion is murder. I went through a misscarriage about 6 years ago. I went through pure hell in my mind. I could not imagine having an abortion.
---Rebecca_D on 4/14/07

Jana, you are judging by man's standards. Physical or mental handicaps are not reason for murder. Now if the mother's life is in danger and the only way to save her is to remove the child, even my Church allows for that. After all, if the mother dies, so does the child. But, in this case, the intent is not to murder the child. The intent is to save the life of the mother, and the ability to save the child once it is removed does not presently exist. That is not murder. It is a question of intent.
---lorra8574 on 4/14/07

I dont agree with abortion at all however, if a mothers life is threatened, and the baby is not well inside (intellectually handicapped), then mum's life should be preserved. This infant wouldnt have a normal life at all as an intel/handicapped.

Statistics show 95%+ of abortions are for convenience/economic reasons.

To say the unborn aren't alive contradicts Scripture-Jeremiah Ch.1:5 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.' Other Scriptures likewise.

It's also a denial of medical reality.

Abortion is murder but God forgives those who repent & seek forgiveness.

The place our Creator God made for children to grow in safety has become a killing-field. Can God be happy?
---Warwick on 4/14/07

Mary, you rightly get a lot of flack because you are wrong. Why not let God be the judge every time a woman kills her two week old baby, two month old baby, boyfriend, husband, parent, etc. After all, we just don't know what she might be going through at the time. Those things may not be right but God knows her heart.
---ralph7477 on 4/14/07

Mary, I would not presume to judge the woman, but I fear for the very soul of everyone who encouraged or otherwise participated in her decision to obtain an abortion and those who performed it.

The Didache, oldest Christian catechism, states that abortion is always forbidden, and in Jeremiah 1:5, God does not deal with "potential" life - before one is formed in the womb, not half way to birth or after birth, God knows us intimately and has a plan for us from the very beginning.

I know many Christians who are in favor of women having a choice in matters concerning abortion. They are not PRO abortion, but in favor of a woman choosing that, and answering to God if she does.

Many Christians have a liberal view on this matter because of the lack of services available to single women, especially the young women, who may not have insurance and means to support a child.

Notlaw,

Abortion in Judaism was very rare unlike today and was only used if the life of the mother would be lost. One would be only fooling themselves to believe Judaism or God approves of abortion or the murder of the unborn as it is used today.
---Moderator on 4/13/07

At the time of Christ Judaism recognized the need for abortion. Judaism differentiated the difference between potential life and actual life. If the life of the mother was threatened her welfare took precedence over potential life and abortion was mandated. Christ or any Apostles taught contrary to this established religious president. Abortion remains a perfectally ethical alternative for a Christian women because a fetus is only potential life not actual life until it can take the Breath of Life.
