Great Falling Away Has Begun

I believe the great falling away has begun. The church today is apostate. On Easter Sunday instead of preaching on the resurrection, the pastor finished his series on marriage. How many of you experienced something similar?

It's not just on special holidays that we notice the falling away. It's every service. People who used to love the Lord and want to serve Him are now going to the lake, sleeping in, visiting friends, and just about anything except going to services. I suppose that many have grown tired of waiting for the Lord to return. But, I plan on waiting until he comes back.

.billy, I understand. No I don't hurt when people leave. I myself have left the blog for quite some time, and then the Lord told me to come back and post his words again. I reasoned with God, and as you can see, here I am: a Rock of offense and stumblingstone to those whom abide in darkness, but a Light of salvation and fount of living water to those whom hunger and thirst for righteousness.
---Eloy on 5/1/07

Eloy, its been good talking to you. I believe I want be posting anymore, except for one blog that I hope to reach a conclusion with soon. I'm sure it wont hurt you that much to see me gone, but either way I pray Gods blessings.

Lorra8574 - ("The Liturgy is geared so that the Resurrection is preached on Easter Sunday, the Passion of Christ is preached on Good Friday, every year.") -- But have you ever heard a good old fashioned Holy Ghost preached sermon by an Evangelist?
---Helen_5378 on 5/1/07

Most Christians don't believe that there is more to the Bible than the same thing that is preached year in and year out. Most Christians don't understand the truth behind Easter and Christmas. There is more to the Christian life beyond the stuff preached. I believe that Christians - and many of them Christians for over twenty years - don't know over 10% of what is found in the Bible.
---Steveng on 4/30/07

To the Blog Question, my church does not have that problem. The Liturgy is geared so that the Resurrection is preached on Easter Sunday, the Passion of Christ is preached on Good Friday, every year.
---lorra8574 on 4/30/07

Most of the list of sins are symptoms rather than the cause of apostasy. See Rom.1. Not giving God His proper place in our thinking results in abominations. Lost people might get less punishment than religious people who should know better.
---joshua on 4/30/07

Then do not fret, for this word from God is not meant for you, else you would most certainly be getting it. I believe the Lord is saying that he is unimpressed by the dramatics displayed from the pulpits, and he is calling these backslidden pastors to repentance, beginning with themselves and then also onto the congregations. And only after doing this, will the fallen land become Christian again, and the Lord will once again be able to truly bless the land among the nations.
---Eloy on 4/30/07

The Church has fallen, its not falling away.
Over 30 yrs ago, there were great Churches around where you could be fed the word. There were real healings in His name, ect.
But the greatest thing was love of God and your Christian brother...you felt it when you walked in....you felt the Spirit, it was so sweet. The power of God was there.

Eloy

Billy, a pastor in sin. Billy, a citizenship in sin.

Sorry Eloy, im trying my best to understand, but I still dont get it, Sorry.

---Eloy on 4/30/07

Eloy, who are you referring to?
---Billy on 4/28/07

God is not moved by your social club and limelight for dramatic performance, your vain show, and your copycat performances: when will you repent and seek my face, says the Lord. You speak words that I have not given you to speak, dead words, which have no life in them, says the Lord. When you get serious about me, and my work in saving souls, and that beginning with your own, says the Lord, then I will truly bless you and turn your former glory; and then all nations will once again call you blessed.
---Eloy on 4/28/07

Stevenq-I think you have a good list there. A young Christian girl said to me- once we get away from the truth we end up in a swamp. And that's where we have ended up,in a swamp where His Truth is either distorted or not taught at all, replaced with worldly opinion based feel good philosophies and positive thinking.

A common theme on the many threads hers is -I think, I believe- with little apparent interest in what He commands.

1/ Joshua

God bless brother. Yes, Joel was referencing the start and endpoints of the church age. First, what is the Church? Is it a physical building, or is it the name thats over the door of the building [denominations]? No, for we are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Of course this is speaking of each person that is in Christ,

but were the signs that Joel spoke of "blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke" physical signs that would be seen outwardly, or were they signs that would take place within each one of us? I believe when Peter said, "this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel" He was refering to the work of the spirit in us, and the signs that he began to described were to take place within us.

3/ Joshua

You asked, are you saying the church is the "great apostasy"? Yes, there will be a falling away that must take place in every believers life if they are to fullfill every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. We all must be the prodigal son first, even the wheat and the tares are within Gods kingdom, its all within, Mat 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying,

4/ Joshua

The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: Mat 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. Most Christians believe this parable, and all parables are to be taken as physical things that happen in the world, the wheat are good people and the tares are evil people. but is this true?
---Billy on 4/27/07

5/ Joshua

First we must understand where Gods kingdom is. Luk 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Know wonder scripture says that the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. This is why I believe that all happens within. The wheat and the tares are within, the great apostasy is within each of us.

Most who realise this know that the battle is on in the heavens at this very moment, the wheat and the tares fighting to rule this vessel of clay. Most dont even know where the man of sin is that is to sit in the temple of God and to proclame himself that he is god. even this is all within as well. God bless
---Billy on 4/27/07

Question... "What is causing the falling away?

Watering down Truth, too much entertainment -not enough solid spiritual bread, mixing of Christianity and mysticism, no fellowship to encourage one another, laws restricting the speech (HR 1592), no praying in public schools, spiritualism is more exciting, the fear of being persecuted, believing fables/novels instead of the Bible, divisions in the church, churches accepting gays to lead, people are too educated, etc. Just for starters.
---Steveng on 4/27/07

Billy: You are correct that Peter's Pentacost sermon said "this is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel". It would appear to Joel was referencing the start and endpoints of the church age. Any better ideas out there? If this is correct, are you saying the church is the "great apostasy"?

1/ Petey

The great falling away began 2000 years ago. Peter spoke of the last days at Pentecost and said that this was what was spoken by the prophet Joel. Tell me what part of Peters message to the people that resembles our Lords description of his return and what is spoken in Revelation.

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

I am with Catherine. Worship God everyday. Those in the OT would worship God anytime and anywhere. Being in a Church isn't required, neither is worshiping on a specific day. Just worship him everyday. Worship Him before you go to bed and praise His holy name. Thank Him for everything. Sing praises in your soul throughout the day. He loves that so much.
---Matthew on 4/24/07

I will tell you a thing or two, my friend. I worship>>> Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. How's that?

catherine, if you are a Bible believing christian, then how come you have not known what the true Sabbath of God is? What on earth are you doing worshiping on the Pope's sabbath the Sunday the day of the sun?????

In Ezekiel we see the Spirit of God departing from the temple after the Israelis became apostate. If we are indwelt with the Spirit of Jesus, ("the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy", Rv. 19:10), how can we stay in "churches" that do not preach the Word? God commands us to come out of Babylon, and many think she is the apostate church. Something to think about. But in a church or school with Bible study and training we can help make a difference.
---Joshua on 4/22/07

Rebecca...Catherine is a self-proclaimed prophet who was told by God to drop out of Bible College and stop attending church. Does that explain some things to you?
---Susie on 4/20/07

Joshua, thank you. I have a few words here and pay attention. I have a job and it is the most important job on this earth. More important than even being in law enforcement yes, and more important than even the President. I serve a living GOD. Most people do not really serve God they are unbelieving believers and you are not fooling God or Catherine.

Keep up the good work Catherine. "Apostasy" means "departure" or "falling away." Don't miss the main point here. Whenever man, rather than surrendering to God and His righteousness, looks to himself, via fig-leafs, politicians, law, or any other work of his own hands we see the self-sufficiency the Old Testament calls idolatry/witchcraft/rebellion. Apostasy existed from the beginning, but is nothing like the great one we see already underway.
---Joshua on 4/20/07

They "Sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons".>>> We now have the first example of man-made religion in history. Religion is any attempt to clothe ourselves apart from the Righteousness of Christ. Adam and Eve tried it with fig leaves. Men today try it with education, church membership, baptism, tithing, confirmation, good works, etc. But all to no avail.

Rebecca, catherine probably doesn't know that your husband is a policeman. :-)
---Raine on 4/17/07

Rebecca D...I am saying that the police are just a puff of air they get their breath just like the rest of us and so does the President, a puff of air. We need to look to God for protection and to His know how and His wisdom not to any human being of which don't know if they are going back, forward, sideways, or jumping up and down. Everyone that's in power needs to come down off their pedestals and put God back on His. Besides, men has made a mess of things.

Catherine; Are you sure your on the right blog? I mean what does the Police have to do with a preacher preaching a message? Anyhow, our Pastors needs our support in every way. Many people want a message preached behind the pulpit to tickle their ears, and not step on their toes. This is why they grumble and complain.
---Rebecca_D on 4/17/07

Petey: Why are you having such a hard time with this? I love hearing the word of God being preached, if the message comes from the bible. But where is it a rule that a Preacher has to preach about Christ's resurrection at Easter? We all know about Christ's resurrection. Maybe there were some married couples that were struggling in their marriage and God used this Pastor to help them by giving them a message on marriage. If the message comes from God Almighty, we are no one to question the sermon.
---Rebecca_D on 4/17/07

Listen here, we need to stop looking to the police for answers. They don't have any answers. Listening here, we need to stop looking to the president for answers, he doesn't have any answers. We need to look up not out. God has the answers.
---catherine on 4/17/07

am not being awful, but if you think church is a place for entertainment, then I dont call it church for God wants a holy communion with His creatures not entertainment..then again you might have meant it differently to what I am reading...

If you don't like what your Pastor preaches on on certain sundays, then maybe you need to find a new church and stop criticizing him. Maybe he should have preached on the resurrection, but criticizing him is only opening a door for the devil to get to you. Be careful.
---betty8468 on 4/17/07

Petey on, you are correct, the great apostasy began in 1971 when the Holy Bible was replaced with unholy bibles, and this supplanting by the enemy has drastically polluted most of the Christian churches today.
---Eloy on 4/16/07

No, God didn't change the pastor's message for the service. The pastor planned months in advance and continued his marriage series.
---Petey on 4/16/07

Did you ever stop to think that maybe your Pastor had a message on Christ's resurrection, but God gave your Pastor a message on what to preach on. Just because the Pastor doesn't preach on the resurrection at Easter means he is falling away from God. Many of times my Pastor would study on his message, and when he got behind the pulpit, God changed the Pastor's message.

When my grandparents were young Church was the main entertainment, and it was the place to be three times or more a week.It was easy to invite others to church . But now it is offensive to people to ask if they are saved and they count it improper to invite them to church. As a minister I see fewer and fewer churches open in evening or mid week service Im sure this grieves the heart of God .
