If I Became A Christian

I not sure why I'm asking this, but if a person was to believe this Jesus and become a Christian, which churches are acceptable and which one's are not. I know they all can't be right, because of the differences.

Dennis, Jesus came for one purpose, to die as the perfect sacifice for our sin. The ministry of Jesus was to teach the deciples the true meaning of the law & to demonstrate that he is the son of God, hince the parables. Jesus did not want to be accepted as the messiah, he knew that he had to die. He taught "transition" from the laws that he fulfilled to the New covenant or contract with God. The church is the result of the covenant.
---Chip on 4/10/08

Jesus the Messiah DID NOT come to earth to found the "Christian" church. He came to testify to the Truth. Today's Christian church comes from Catholicism (councils of Nicea, Leodicea), a diluted 'Romanized' version of Judaism, constructed by Paul (Saul- a gentile and a Roman citizen) employed by Rome for the purpose of mitigating the conflict and stopping the rebellion of the Jews against Rome. Paul was in constant conflict with James, Peter, and John in the Jerusalem assembly over doctrine.

Dr.Rich Have you had a meeting with Jesus as Pual did? How well do you know him & do you believe that you know Jesus more or better than Paul? If so , on what do you base your opinion?
---Chip on 4/8/08

If you believed on Jesus and followed him with all your heart in sincerity and truth and an unfeigned love he would lead you to the right church by his Spirit.
You are right.
Many churches are nothing more than synagogues of satan.
---Frank on 4/8/08

Don't follow man's idea of church, place your foundation upon the straight testimony of Jesus given to us by His eyewitnesses. Remember Paul and Luke did not know Jesus and Luke wrote Acts too.

First what a question as we all scurry off to find ways to prove our church. forget the church angle, they serve the purpose of gathering together. First build a relationship with Christ(God) by spending time with Him, through prayer, listening, and reading His Word. Then find like minded people to fellowship with. No human yet has all truth, it is a journey of discovery that all must go through. Enjoy the journey for the reward is sure.
---dan on 4/8/08

There are cults and false religions. If you really become a Christian, the Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth. New Christians can be vulnerable as the enemy doesn't give up that easily. Seek out strong Christians and God's grace is strong on the new Christian. He has ways of placing them right in your path, all around you. They can offer guidance to avoid joining a cult or false religion. Strong Christians bolster up new or young ones.
---Ted on 4/8/08

You're the church. Get alone with God and understand truth. No denomination is the right one. Be non-denominational and be called a believer or disciple only(personal opinion) because everyone claims to be christian these days. Matter of fact ask the Lord to lead you in looking for a church to avoid hit-and-miss and disappointment.

Mark V: No I am no longer a sinner, but a child of God. Old things passed away, behold everything new. The old man moved out and the new man moved in. Whoever told you that your still a sinner even after you are born again lied to you. Because one can't be both. Since you believe your still a sinner. There is no reason to go any further because we will disagree. So what are you a Christian or a sinner? Chose ye this day.
---Rebecca_D on 4/7/08

Dear Questioner, Follow your own heart. Man-made laws will always differ, and I don't think anyone here will say, "Don't come to my church because it isn't that great." The truth of Jesus is this: He loves you with all of his being. He listens to your every thought, every prayer you utter. Simply talk to him, you don't need to find the 'right' church. He's waiting!

#5. Rebecca: When God gives us saving faith, we never lose it. It might be weak and many times seems like not there but it is always there because it comes from God, "looking unto Jesus, the Author and finisher of our faith" God never makes mistakes with His children.
---Mark_V. on 4/7/08

Rebecca, I don't know where to start. Everything you wrote is wrong. I don't know who descipled you, but whoever it was did not know what they were saying or teaching. You said, "When I was a sinner" Rebecca, you are still a sinner as everyone else. You have not been glorified yet. We are been sanctified. You said, "I believe Jesus was real" The devil believed He was real too. Yet he didn't have saving faith.
---Mark_V. on 4/7/08

#2. Rebecca: That saving faith which enables us to trust in Christ and His works on the cross for our lives. That is what saving faith does to us. You said, "Jesus was drawing me to Him and I let Him" When God is drawing you to him you don't even realize it because you were use to do the desires of your heart which was to do the will of your father the devil. You were a slave to sin, and the devil when God drew you to Him.
---Mark_V. on 4/7/08

#3. Rebecca: 2 Tim. 2:25,26 reads, "God may perhaps grant that they will repent and come to know the truth, and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will." Thats who you were when God decided to grant you repentance and brought you to the truth. The Holy Spirit brings you to life and you awaken to the things of God and brings you alive to Christ. God does this by first giving you a new heart. A heart that will have saving faith.
---Mark_V. on 4/7/08

#4 Rebecca: He gives you the eyes to see and the ears to hear and when you hear the gospel of Christ, you believe it and understand it and you commit your life to Him. You place your life and repent of your sin, and He in return gives you the gift of eternal life for your commitment. Christ imputes His own righteousness on you because your own righteousness are as filthy rags, because they never included Christ. We are sinners who have been forgiven.

Mark V. When I was a sinner, I believed Jesus was real. I believed the miracles he preformed with my own eyes, that made me bigger believer in him, but yet I was still a sinner. Jesus was drawing me to him, I let him in, then I became born again. I had to have faith and trust in him to save me. If not, then I couldn't have been saved. So you see, one has to believe in Jesus and have faith in him before he can save them. One can't believe ON Jesus to be saved, they have believe IN him.
---Rebecca_D on 3/31/08

Rebecca, Satan believes there is a God, He does not have faith in God. He is fallen. Satan talked to Jesus and tempted Him, but he was not placing his trust in the Lord. He was placing his trust in himself hoping that Jesus would do what he said. From Adam and Eve all descendants are separated from God, spiritually dead, and without hope. Dead in traspasses and sin. The Spirit has to bring life and convicted them of their sin. Without the Spirit convicting them they will remain separated from the Lord.
---Mark_V. on 3/29/08

Mark V. A lost person has to believe in Christ before they can be saved. That woman with the issue of blood, she has never met Jesus. But she has heard of this man who can heal the sick. She crawled to him because she believed in him. Satan believes in God and he trembles.
---Rebecca_D on 3/28/08

Rebecca, when I said the Spirit brings life, it is through the gospel that He brings life to the unbeliever. He brings light to the word of God so that we can understand it and see and hear the Lord. I wanted to make that clear just in case you didn't know. Thanks for asking and hope that I have helped you in your walk with Christ. Have a great day, I know I will since I am going to visit my dauther. Blessings in the name of the Lord.

#2. are also saved if their hearts have been changed. When we commit our lives to Christ we are expressing what we feel already in our hearts. Making the commitment is acknowledging what we feel. An unbeliever has to be drawn by the Father, to be given life by the Holy Spirit, and be forgiven by the atonement of Christ. The lost are without hope. without God, without Christ, Eph. 2:11-13. #3. the desperation with which she sought forgiveness. She didn't have to say the words for Christ to know her heart. Her actions spoke what was in her heart. Her weeping was an expression of deep repentance. Seeking is the act of those who are born again. God is changing many hearts and those whom He changes will come and make a commitment to Christ. Here is how it is Rebecca

2. "You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your fathers desires" John 8:44.
3. "No one can come to Me unless the Father who send Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day" John 6:44.
4. "And He said, this is why I told you that on one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by the Father" John 6:65.
5. "Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to claim anything coming from us,

our sufficiency is from God" 2 Cor. 3:5.
6. "For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in Him but also suffer for His sake" Phili. 1:29.
Our new hearts come from God, and with that new heart comes the gifts necessary for our redemption, a new life, faith, repentance, salvation, and the imputation of Christ righteousness to cover our sinful flesh.

#6. There is many who say the salvation words and they mean nothing. Their hearts were never change to began with. And they walk away for good. Some struggle with their new hearts, and it is a battle between the Spirit and the flesh. To others it is very easy life. Each habit we had will be taken away by God, because we have Christ who helps us. He has said without Him we can do nothing. Praise be to God He has given His Son for the forgiveness of our sins.
---Mark_V. on 3/28/08

Rebecca, Luke 7. Before the prostitute could come to Christ, her heart had been changed by God already, for she was seeking Christ, she was a believer already. She had faith, and repentance in her heart before she walked in to Simon's house. Unbelievers are called unbelievers because they have no faith. The lost (unbelievers) do not seek after Christ. If all the prostitutes had faith already, they too would have come to Christ. Saying the words orally does not save us. Those that connot speak
---Mark_V. on 3/28/08

Mark V. A sinner has to believe in Jesus before they can get saved. Remember the story about the woman who heard of Jesus, believed in Jesus. She stood before Jesus crying, she washed his feet with her tears and wiped his feet with her hair and anointed them with ointment. That woman was a sinner. But she believed IN Jesus before she came to him. Luke 7:37-48. So don't tell me that a sinner can't believe before they come to Jesus, cause God's word proved you wrong.
---Rebecca_D on 3/19/08

Rebeca, no one lost believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. If he is lost he has no faith. How can he believe without faith? How can he have faith if he is not alive to Christ? He has to be born again in order to believe. We don't believe in order to be saved, We believe because we are saved.

Catherine: What do you mean when you asked this man, Did God chose you? Since you said that to him, he thought you were saying that he couldn't become a Christian. First you ask him if God chose him, then you asked what was he waiting for? Some of the things you say are really out there. Apparently this man was under conviction, that was why he asked the question. You don't ask a sinner, did God chose you. My answer to you is, God doesn't call the qualified he qualifies the called.
---Rebecca_D on 3/18/08

Catherine-"If you were to become a Christian? Did God choose you, if not it makes no difference."

Ask God if it possible if he chooses people he foreknew would believe. For belief is not a work and salvation is not by works(Ephesians 2:8-9),salvation is by grace through faith. I believe it is a mistake to say God chooses first, then comes faith, no I believe it is those whom God foreknew he chose and predestined(Romans 8:29).
---Matthew_from_LA on 3/18/08

If this wasn't so then God did an enie minie mo on who will be saved and who wouldn't, and quite frankly, that seems too unfair and unjust. A person may not be able to say say "I will be a Christian", and become one ,but one can say "I believe in Christ" and become one.(Luke 12:18) Of course not everyone who says this will be saved as Jesus said in Matthew 7:21.

My friend. I do not lie. Believing in Jesus, believing in the whole concept is not salvation. You must be saved by God's Blood. Please do not be fooled. I have a whole family who is in this dilemma. It bothers me more and more. As far as church goes. You better ask God. Go by the power of the Person of the Holy Spirit. And have a party. Ignore the ugly looks from others, when the Person of the Holy Spirit comes upon you, my friend. Just a little warning, here
---catherine on 3/17/08

First of all, a person can believe in Jesus and still be lost (a sinner). God must first convict a person of their sins then that person can ask God into their heart. After that if this person doesn't know what church to go to. Seek God and he will lead this person to the church he can use them the most. Your right not all churches are right. if a church lets sin behind the pulpit (example gays) it isn't a church that God abides in.

Join a christian church, non denominational.Especially if you do not have a church background. Your persuasion is important, I think. You may have to search or look into the different kinds of denominations. Are you Baptist, Pentacostal, Lutheran and so on. The differences are in the way we worship and praise God. Each church also has different ministries. But one thing we should ALL have in common is the doctrines and beliefs of the Christian faith. These should not differ.

Whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Who really understands the scripture? Let me explain, Listen up.>>>It is for all practical religion. What is the life of a true Christian but a life of prayer? He that thus calls upon Him shall be saved. It is but ask and have; Now, this scripture has got to be the most misunderstood, in the Word Of God. Except they believe that He is God, they will not call upon Him by prayer. 1- it must be founded upon Jesus Christ alone; he is the only real Everliving Mediator whom alone accepts our prayers and worship; 2- No unholy bibles permitted in the church nor read from the pulpits, currently being no bibles used in church after the 1611 KJV, for they contain a magnanimous amount of heresies and false doctrines; 3- the church must use and obey the New Testament A.D. Commands of Jesus alone, and not wrongly propagate any abolished leaven of the Old Testament B.C.

With prayer you will find the right Church, Trust in the Holy Spirit to guide you. But first believe and the joy will be so profound and transforming that you will be glad you made that decision.

If you are an unbeliever you are starting out clean. Go to a Church where they just teach Jesus. Not a saint or Mary or a Priest or a Pastor or beads or statutes or an idea or any other means. Dear Unbeliever, There are some, but certainly not all, "churches" (either independent, or which associate with other like-minded Believers in other locations), which will teach and encourage you to grow in Christ according to Scripture. But there's no such thing as a 'perfect' local 'church'! ONLY the head of the Body of Christ (which includes true Believers from all 'churches'), JESUS Himself, is perfect. The rest of us are at our best when keeping our eyes on HIM; doing His will, not our own.
