It all depends on what state they live in. I live in WV, so things aren't as high in prices as they are in the South. But what really gets my butt on fire is if there is raise then the cost of living goes up. but it all boils down on where you live and what kind of jobs are around you.

In the United States of America, this day anything less than 50,000 US dollars puts you in below the middle class border. In reality, most middle class citezens make around 25,000 a year. Between that and richness, there are, relatively, very few people, as the gap between the rich and the not-rich widens! Still, I won't settle for remaining less than rich.

rich person, one who has repented and accepted who has submitted their will to the word and the prompting of the holy who speaks not,or makes no decision until it lines up with Gods word.THIS IS A RICH PERSON.

susie, I have responded earlier but I felt I should add this post. as jesus told us "what does it profit a man if he gain the whole world but loose his soul?"by some answers here it seems many believe its a monetary amount,or quantity of possessions.oh lord I pray open their hearts and minds so they can see the follie, and know what treasures really are.

It's good to see that you all have your priorities straight and know just what "rich" really means. I'm anxiously awaiting those treasures I'm building up in Heaven. I know you are too.

That depends on which economy you are living in. "rich" by itself means to have a surplus, excess, or more than ones basic needs of food and shelter and clothing. A poor person may have holes in their shoes but cannot aford to buy a pair of shoes, whereas a rich person may have six pairs of shoes; and a poor person may not have eaten for a couple of days, whereas a rich person may have eaten six times in one day; a poor person may not have a house, but rich person may have one or two houses; etc

There are two wealthy men, you know them well. The one you would least suspect to be a giver, gives quietly.
His car broke down in a storm. A local helped the man. He paid their mortgage off, quietly. The man does many things like that.
He's not a televangelist. He earned his money the old fashioned way, he worked for it.

I believe that you can be rich with any amount of money. The bible states that the blessings of the Lord maketh rich and there's no sorrow with them. I believe the Lord wants us to be whole and complete in every area of our lives. To have faith in Him and not the resources that He use. You can have a million dollars today and become terminally ill tomorrow. then what? We need balance, faith to BELIEVE the unadulterated word of God makes us rich!

As you are asking about financial riches, as opposed to any other kind of riches, I'd say that being rich is having some money left over when absolutely all necessities have been paid for, being financially O.K. is being able to pay for all necessities but no luxuries and being poor is not having enough for necessities. We have been indoctrinated into feeling poor if we cannot have luxuries or the things that others have.

In the scripture when Jesus was referring to a Rich person he was talking about those who do not need him. They are rich in self sufficiency, and do not need a savior but those who are poor in spirit meaning they recognize that they are lost and need a savior theirs is the Kingdom of God.
Many people that have lots of Money are like this but some who have very little are also. Some will never turn to God until all their money is spent on doctors and have no place else to turn.

Some are rich in knowledge thinking that science and technology will save them but for every cure a disease much worse mysteriously appears. Some think space travel and such is our salvation,or others think politics and laws will save us, Many come up with revelations they call truth that will save us ,but Nothing can save you but the Cross of Calvary, the works of Christ, You must believe he is the Son of God and be baptized
believing in his works and you will be saved.

To me a rich person has nothing to do with money but how rich they are with loved ones, such as family and friends but most importantly with the love of our God. all the worldly possessions cannot get you into heaven. Your richness comes from the love of God. You can be as poor as a church mouse and still be rich through His (Our Father) love.

I think the exact amount of money that qualifies a person to be considered rich is relative. By this, I think it depends on where you live. I am sure much more is needed to live comfortably and well here in America than say in a developing country like Africa. Joy9988

are you rich or poor?are you at peace with God? I believe understanding who we are in the One who controls it all, is being rich.

Leviticus 19:15 states: "You shall not commit a perversion of justice: you shall not favour the poor and you shall not honour the great, with righteousness shall you judge your fellow."

That is, the Law should not favour the rich, as happens in parts of the world that tolerate bribery.

But nor should it favour the poor, refuting "God is on the side of the poor" claims. Even if a pauper steals from Bill Gates, the biblical justice demands that the Law punish the thief.

The definition in terms of finances in the USA is the top 1% of the wage earners which is $300,000 per year.

It would vary from nation to nation, culture to culture. If you were in a tribe, it might be 20 head of goats or cows. For some it might be clean drinking water, 3 cups of rice and a pair of shoes.
Everyone, including those living in a homeless shelter, would be considered wealthy. Comparing apples to oranges, poverty stricken to the wealthy, we're not supposed to covet our neighbors belongings.
We shouldn't draw up comparisons. It serves no purpose.

To a person who has no income save the aid agencies' food hand-outs in Darfur, there is no-one in the USA or UK who is not exceedingly rich.

The RICHEST person in the world, is the person who has his name written in the Lambs Book of Life, which is located in Heaven.

Concerning the wordls riches, if you have everything you need and everything you want maybe then you are rich. Some people maybe rich with 50,000 a year and some may consider this poor. It all depends on the expectations of the person. I went to Haiti on some mission trips and they consider me very rich and I make below average income here in Canada.

I don't believe riches are truely measured in dollars. To me being rich is about having enough money to do the things you must do, things you want to do, without having so much it becomes a burden and rules your life. We always set travel, especially with our children,as an enrichment adventure so we made a way to do that. We have been in 30 States in USA,5 Foreign Countries, plus 4 cruises. There is no richer person than one who is happy in the Lord and with their life, which includes close family ties.
