Is This The Biblical New Earth

A new earth has just been discovered 1 1/2 times the size of our earth, Scientists say that the temperature is just like our earth, it is covered almost completely under an ocean now, they believe it has life forms on it, could this be the new earth mentioned in scripture?

No. Because when God creates the new earth, the old earth will vanish and not be remembered. Is 65:17, Rev 21:1. This earth (now) will be destroyed by fire, 2 Peter 3:7-12. So no the new earth on which these scientists claime they found, is not the new earth God is speaking of.

For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. Isaiah 65:17

REV 20:11
11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.

Scripture does say, HEAVEN AND EARTH will pass away but My Word will last forever,

Jack, the Star authority....
I still like the Pizza idea best!
---Elder on 5/7/07

No it is not. The new earth and the new heavens are not in outerspace.

**Gleise 581 sounds like a Pizza deal to me.**

Gleise 581 is meaningless.

Gleise 581 A is the star itself (getting its designation from the so-called Gleise catalogue of stars).

Gleise 581 C says that this is the SECOND planet discovered orbiting it.

Hey maybe the "New Agers" can all go live on this "New Earth."
Whatta think?
Gleise 581 sounds like a Pizza deal to me. Could it be made with green cheese from the moon by some more Lunar Ticks that are loose on this earth.
---Elder on 5/7/07

BTW--Gleise 581 c's discovery was announced on 24 April 2007.

By 3 May two more exoplanets were announced.

Still think this is a Satanic plot, catherine?

It totally amazes me when people think that "where there is water there is life." That is like saying "where there is iron there are automobiles." Just as it takes alot more than iron to make cars it takes alot more than just water for life to exist. Actually, it takes vast amounts of intelligence, wisdom, design, planning, prevention, maintenance, and supernatural causes.

**I will not listen to man. I will only listen to my God.**

catherine, you give every impression on these blogs that you only listen to yourself or those who say what you want to hear.

I have done some more research on Gleise 581 c (something a lot of people on this blog clearly have not done) and have found out that this planet has not actually been seen, but its presence merely deduced from observation of the star itself (a red giant).

The temperature of the planet is more like Venus, not earth, on its sunny side, with an orbit of 13 earth days. It does not rotate, so one side of the planet remains extremely cold.

Satan, once again has struck through the media. Unbelievers you eat this stuff up. Whatever you hear through the media if it isn't biblical it's a LIE. Believers can search the scriptures. Unbelievers will not bother. I know why. Noone wants to be held accountable for what they do. I will not listen to man. I will only listen to my God.

Wrong, Cynthia. NO scientist--that is reputable astronomer--has said it has life forms on it. How could they see life at 20 light-years distance?

This planet MIGHT exist in the zone where liquid water can be found--but that's between 33 F and 211. And life as we know it can't exist much beyond 100 f.

But the popular press is having a heyday with this, and giving people who don't read carefuly the wrong impression.

No this new discovered planet is not the new earth. The new earth mentioned in Scripture you refer to will be reformed and reconstituted from the earth that we presently are living on after it is melted into a gas vapor.--- O the Lord is mighty and perfectly capable of wondrous amazing things. Eyes have not seen and ears have not heard what lies in store for us in the future. Glory hallelujah to the LORD. (I feel the Holy Spirit this morning!!!)

No this is the earth that was spoken into existence by Jesus' words in the beginning. Read about it in Genesis. This earth discribed in Genesis is the same earth that God will some day destroy by fire and rebuild. See Revelations. The new earth will not appear until the old earth is destroyed is what the Bible teaches. It is exciting that Scientists have discovered a new planet. It is not our earth.

It is not the new earth in Scripture. God will destroy the old earth, that is the one we live on now, then He will make a new earth and new heavens. (Revelation 21:1 "Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.").
---Helen_5378 on 4/29/07

It's just another planet/star that God created and man has discovered it. Why do you ask are you not convinced of the Bible? Man is evil his intention is to prove God a liar, before so we will all sprout wings and fly off in the sunset. lol
---Carla5754 on 4/29/07

No! The Bible makes it clear that they will be new heavens and new earth, but its also makes it clear that the current earth and heavens will be destroyed with fire before the new earth and heaven will be created (Read Isaiah 65:17, Isaiah 66:22, Isaiah 51:6, 2 Peter 3:10, Revelation 21:1)

Isaiah 65:17 states that the former things will not be remember.

While this new planet is very earth-like, it is not the new earth spoken of in the Bible. And there's no new heavens yet.

No, it's not.
This earth is fine with me, for now.
