Prosperity Gospel Is False
My question about the prosperity gospel is this: where is the cross? How does the prosperity gospel honor Jesus who owned no home, and how does it honor the church of the Book of Acts that witnessed to their faith by giving their goods up for others?

Christ gave us the victory over death.
Isa 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken [it]."
We will all overcome covetousness together.

The sad part is that Americans are more prosperous than most of the rest of the world. We should be thankful that we have a place to sleep at night, food to eat, and the freedom to walk the streets of the town where we live.

Rickey, I hope you realize 2 Corinthians 8:9 isn't talking about money. Jesus spoke out against riches claiming "It is easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle then for a rich man to enter the kingdom." I personally will not listen to any minister that is rich. That lives in luxury. They are all false teachers and until they turn from their riches God will continuinhg turning away from them.

Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is Godliness; FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF.

I am prosperous if I have enough to fulfill the purpose God has destined for me while living in this world.
Jesus became poor in order for me to be rich in him.
If you obey you will eat the riches of the Earth...
Seek first righteousness & the knigdom and all the rest shall be added to you...
I think it is when we are not making wise choices or when not being diligent enough that we get into poverty. God's plan for us is Abundant Life...

This prosperity message is exactly that, I hear a different tune from people of today than the people of the first message. The scriptures that are quoted are always based on prosperity/riches and excuses. Those of us that are privileged to know what is it to make a buck or Pound will know (If saved) the money is there to make life comfortable yes but Ultimately to help others too. Not lay up riches up for yourself driving the latest BMW, LEXUS, LOTUS etc.

When we put prosperity into context with tsuannes scipture, quote:- "Scripture states "Those who desire to be rich have an evil heart"". This brings a new meaning to the successful, flourishing, thriving condition atributed to prosperity usually defined exclusively as economic and financial good fortune. Thanks.

Is poverty(in every area of life) a gospel?
Prosperity is good news. It's good news that you don't have to be in lack.
Jesus preached a prosperity(successful) gospel.
No where in the bible does it say, " God wants you in lack or just barely getting along".
If a person is satisfied sick they are denying the power of the Gospel.(Matthew 8:17)
If a person is satisfied broke they are denying the gospel.(2Corinthians 8:9)
---Rickey on 5/14/07|
Scripture states "Those who desire to be rich have an evil heart" That quickly settled it for me. We need to realize that riches are much more than material goods. Good health, a sound mind, loving family, true friends. much more really.
The promises of God are wonderful riches.

Beloved I wish above all that thou mayest prosper and be in good health even as thy soul prospers. As your mind, will and emotions prosper by renewing your mind in the word of God, other areas of your life prosper.
The Prosperity Gospel isn't about money at all. It's about prospering in Peace, Joy, Love, Spiritual things-not Material things. Read the scripture again and please go back and do references to that scripture. Let's go deeper than thinking just money. Thank you.

You have to have in order to give. God does not expect us to give everything and have nothing. He blesses so we can be a blessing. If you have nothing, you have nothing to give. If your blessed with wealth share it, if you don't you will lose it.

Mike, it seems as though the properity gospelians have their god and it is money, and the more people give to them the more decieved they become.

The only thing that the prosperity gospel honors is greed!
---Susie on 5/13/07|
the prosperity "gospel" is not biblical. but it has some truth in it, which is why so many people get caught up in it. Everyone wants more but they don't know how to get it. The prosperity teaching goes against everything the true Gospel is about. Christ never said that You would be financially. he also never said that we would not be persecuted. (maybe the rapture people should take a look at this) We are to serve God and he will take care of us, this means he will provide for our needs.
---Jared on 5/13/07|
But we must serve and work and pray and have faith, We don't get anything if all we do is sit back and "will" our bank full. the only people that can do that are the teachers of the Prosperity Gospel because people send them money.
---Jared on 5/13/07|
I do feel some of this prosperity gospel has gotten out of hand but there is truth in it. Depending upon your understanding and revelation. God came to give us life and to give it more abundantly. The devil's kids live well why can't God's kid do the same. If we are in need of anything God has it, but I do not believe in showing off and acting immodestly when God blesses me. I want to share my blessings with others as God allows. Love

when they laid the money at the apostles feet they divided the money given, among those who had need so every one had things in common meaning equality, Jesus said if you have two give one away, God does not want what you don't have, he expects you to see to the needs of the Church and it's members not the church only, and he will never expect you to give money owed to debts that is their money, and they should not suffer by Corban, you dedicating owed money to God.
---exzucuh on 5/13/07|
if you read the history of the early church by Eusibus Pamphily that many would vow to live a life in poverty and give all their riches not to the church but to the poor.

The Cross of Christ is nowhere to be found in the false Prosperity Gospel. It has led many many Christians astray. The Cross is never spoken of in those circles, except maybe in a derogatory way. It is all about material things. It is false through and through. As somebody once rightly said, Jesus did not die on the Cross so you can have a new red Lamborghini.

**I want more ,I gotta have more.latch key kids everywhere, and 70 grand a year aint enough.**
Once upon a time at a meeting of the Full Belly Itching Ears Fellowship, a man came up to ask for prayers saying he had enough money to pay the bills, but wanted prayer--so he could get more money.

you will be very sucessful to recieve popularity on this thread. I long... to see the Church of God clean up their folly ground, if even for our generation to establish the Old Testament Church of God revived in obedience to the examples of Jesus Christ and his Apostles instead of this I hear, I read, I claim garbage I take comfort in the fact that the scriptures revealed that If the ''Righteous SCARCELY'' be saved..... not a great amuont of people can be found in the ''scarce'' part!

Jesus, lived a life of humility, He was born in a manger, had no home, Did not refer to Himself as Bishop, Dr. or Reverend, He was first and foremost a Servant, He washed His disciples feet, lived a life of scorn and ridicule. Yet shall return as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, Halleluiah.
---Cynthia_1 on 5/13/07|
Although I don't agree with a lot of the prosperity teachings I can see how it honours Jesus in that he became poor for us. I also know a lot of people who have done exactly like those in the early church by giving everything away and God blessed them for it as they are now rich financially and spiritually. Do you think the people in Acts never got blessed in return for their abundant giving? Bountiful giving means bountiful return. 2 Cor. 9:6.

all the blessings are yea and Amen in the shed blood of Jesus,
those under the Law have to pay God for blessings and make sacrifices, but those things are not in existence,Only Grace under the New Testament, that we come boldly before Gods throne to receive that Grace by the blood.
If you offer money to God for blessings already paid for by the blood, you are denying the cross and are a thief trying to get something another way other than Jesus.

Men say money is the seed but Jesus says,
Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The (SEED is the WORD OF GOD).
the reason there is no power today in peoples lives is that they are born of the Money doctrine and not Born again by the incorruptible seed of God, the Word. You cannot serve God and Money. WE are to be givers but Like our Father who expects nothing in return,We should know the blessings are paid for, We share in the inheritance.

I have noticed that you can tell that people have money, their cheerful, loveable, peaceful but when they don't they are grumpy, hateful, mean and down in the valley. I admit when I'm running low on cash, I get down. because I can't get the things my family needs. Especially my kids because it seems they grow out of their clothes the day after I buy them. As long as my bills are paid, I can get the things we need, and have a little money left over, I'm fine, happy go lucky.
