How Long Before Jesus

I was just wondering how close everybody thinks the return of Jesus is? Please give your estimation. My guess is it's only a few decades away considering everything I've read. I will be stunned if it doesn't happen within my lifetime.

Higgins, the view you suggested is called the "preterist" view, that Jesus returned around 70 A.D. There is some merit because as you say some of the predictions seemed to have been fulfilled during the 7 year span of 66 A.D. through 73 A.D. However, there is scripture that is very explicit that all will "see" Him.
BTW, thanks for joining the discussions. It's nice to have some new opinions and view points.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

I will admit I was one of those Christians that was getting a little paranoid about who the Anti-Christ was going to be and when the Great Tribulation would begin, not to mention obsessing about when Christ would return. Then I made a startling discovery late last year.

Long story short, it looks as if Christ's second coming has already taken place and so did the "Great Tribulation". And I mean nearly 2,000 ago. Read the works of Josephus. He was a Jewish priest and military commander who was captured by the Romans and became a historian. You should read what he saw around the fall of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. It will blow you away!
---Higgins on 6/12/10

Jesus could return just any time now. It could be this very minute. I believe We could be living in the first half of the Tribultion period. The anti-christ is probally already here. I Pray we all are ready for Jesus to return. Watch, Pray and be ready to go at all times. Jesus is coming soon.
---Flossie on 6/10/10

As spectators of the the world and humanity it is fair to say that what scripture provides us with in relation to the second coming that the time is near. All we can do as believers in Christ is trust in the word of our Lord and be faithful. We cannot know the time just be prayerful and keep watch. My hearts desire is for the Lord to return today, to draw us back to him and to deliver rightousness but it is in the Lords hands and He will bring His word to completion at the proper time. Be sure that we dont need to fear just be joyful for if the time of Christs return is near then we are on the verge of a kingdom and rule of absolute perfection.

People always take things out of context and quote Mt 24:36 But if they go JUST a little bit before 24:36 to 24:33-36 you will see that Jesus says we will know.
---Steve on 3/31/08

We may not know the EXACT DAY, minute or hour....but we will know when it is near. No one out there is trying to time it out like the falling apple in Times Square on new years eve....LOL....we are not trying to do the ole 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 JESUS RETURNS!!!!!!!!!!! no no no...just trying to get a ballpark idea is all.
---Steve on 3/31/08

MT 24:33Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. 34I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.36"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
---Steve on 3/31/08

It has already happened.

Reviewed Shelby Corbitt's prophecy and must say that I'm intrigued. Her website is simple, you can tell she is speaking genuinely.I believe that she believes she received this prophecy. If it was a hoax, why would she give her hoax an enddate. If the rapture doesn't occur this year, her ministry is over. I have had the feeling that Jesus would return before October 07. I was pleasantly surprised to see her prediction. Keep in mind that God allowed her to see the year and season but not the day or hour.

Jerry Falwell often said that he expected to see Christ's return before he died! I guess he was wrong. But, maybe Falwell saw Christ's return to get him when he (Falwell) died! Perhaps Falwell met Jesus in the air at that moment! Perhaps that moment is "stretched" in time to encapsulate the moment of every faithful person's death. So, the "rapture" and Christ's return is an event in the cosmic drama that encompasses all of history!
---Paul on 8/13/07

I am 37 years old and I honestly believe with all my heart the rapture will happen before I am 40. I really believe sooner than that, but that is a stretch. I mean c'mon... the signs are every where and people are coming to Christ or returning to Him alot recently... I'm seeing that alot. I haven't met a true christain that didn't believe He was coming very soon. Have you????
---Angel on 7/17/07

I'm telling you Church. We have been "taught" not to not believe that GOD (YAHUVEH) has His own prophets within the Church today. But, He does. READ Ephesians 4:11! And He is lifting them up at this last hour to help the Church get ready for the soon-to-come Rapture. PLEASE people! We're going keep saying for years and years from now that "JESUS won't be coming for another 100 years from now" But, He lifted up at least one of a few to tell us that He is on his way NOW! Get ready!
---Gordon on 7/1/07

Cont...But, alas!It is just as it was in the days of Noe. There were those who scoffed, mocked and laughed. So, it is today. "Where is the promise of his coming?" "Things are continuing on as they always have since the beginning!" All while the ten Virgins slumber away. Shelby Corbitt has received a prophecy, at least look into it.

harold, harold, To understand scripture including the one you are talking about you must know you need to study.+ I and my Father are one. And, If you have seem me you have seen the Father. You may start with those. Or you may START with the one that you quoted. STUDY! +
---catherine on 6/30/07

Nobody will ever know. Jesus said so himself in the Gospels. He said No-one knows but the Father, not even the Son. So, to speculate when is a fools game. The first century church of Peter was expecting Jesus to come back any year. But, Jesus is coming back, soon.

Thanks Gordon, Always nice to have a fan. ++

Catherine, on this blog, you GO, girl! People are MISSING it if they do not understand that JESUS (YAHUSHUA) is fully GOD. He states in John 10 that He and His Father are ONE! He who has seen (JESUS/YAHUSHUA) has seen The Father! Also, in John, The Father loveth The Son and hath given ALL THINGS in His Hands! When JESUS ascended back to Heaven, He sat down at the Right Hand of GOD; the HIGHEST Position in the universe. Of course JESUS knows when He's coming back. He's GOD.

Cont...When JESUS (YAHUSHUA) walked on the Earth as a humble Servant, He had set aside a part of His Power, as it were, to do and say only what The Father told Him to. Which, also serves to set an example for US to live by. But, now that He's back on His Throne, He knows ALL things. But, the Father and Son relationship does play out still in the sense that "when The Father says, 'Son, go get Your Bride', The Son obeys. But, both Wills of The Father and Son are in agreement with this Plan.
---Gordon on 6/29/07

Anthony, they say when something is repeated, it's important. It's recorded 3x "Behold, I come quickly!"-Rev 3:11, 22:7, 22:12. Must be pretty important!

Mt 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Mk 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
---a_servant on 6/26/07

It is unBiblical to be trying to pinpoint when Jesus will return. Nobody knows, only the Father (Matthew 24:36).

This is a frivolous debate. It's what divides Christians. If you simply obey the Two Commandments Jesus spoke of in the NT and God spoke of in the OT (which is the summary of all the laws in the OT and of the Prophets) then you wouldn't need to worry yourself of end-time events or if there is a pre, mid, or post tribulation rapture. Just be aware of the signs of the end a spoken by the Prophets and by Jesus, God will reveal to his people what is shortly coming to pass.
---Steveng on 6/25/07

I believe we still need to see the destruction of Damascus syria as prophecized in Isaiah 17.
---JIM on 6/25/07

I personally believe just as Shelby Corbitt is lead to prophecy that the FIRST of TWO Raptures will be sometime this Summer. Maybe around the Messianic festival of Rosh HaShanah. I believe that the modern Church by and large has been "taught" to not believe in nor trust the prophets of GOD (YAHUVEH). And that the Church is suffering because of it. Ephesians 4:11 declares there are true prophets placed within the Church. I'm believing that JESUS will rapture His Bride this Summer 2007!
---Gordon on 6/25/07

Catherine, this is verbatim from Matthew 24:36 (NIV): "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

I will not call out your name, But you do not clearly understand scripture. Jesus is and always will be God. He was on this earth God. And Jesus has always known everything. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are equal. Reread what I wrote. Don't forget to ask the Person of the Holy Spirit in understanding. Otherwise you lost.
---catherine on 6/24/07

Catherine you are simply incorrect. The Son does not know when the end will come. It clearly says so in the Bible. ONLY JEHOVAH GOD KNOWS. You're using semantics to try to make a point. Read the Bible!
---Gary_L. on 6/24/07

Gary L.. You are wrong. Jesus is God, and He knows when He will be coming back. Christ as God could not be ignorant of anything, Not my Jesus, The divine wisdom which dwelt in our Savior, did communincate itself to His human soul, according to the divine pleasure, So that His human nature might sometimes not know some things: therefore Christ is said to grow in wisdom. Anyhow, you have a good weekend.++
---catherine on 6/22/07

No one knows when Jesus will return, NOT EVEN JESUS. Only the father knows for sure. That is why I pay little attention to evangelists who give dates and times for Armageddon: because then they are playing God.

Many of you have invented the kind of god you want to know. How many of you want to know the true God of holiness, condemnation, and WRATH? How many of you want to know the God of the Bible? The true God, who is not soft and will punish both sin and the sinner. He will by no means clear the guilty. Angry with the wicked every day. >>>[EXODUS 34:7] AND [PS.7:11]
---catherine on 6/15/07

If Christ doesn't know when He will return, how can we estimate His return. All we are told in the Bible that His return will be as a thief in the night."But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

It could happen at any moment, but we are not ready for Him yet. Any delay would be an act of mercy.
---lorra8574 on 5/15/07

Most Christians cannot see the forest because of the trees. Open your eyes to the signs around us, look at the big picture of world events. Be aware of what is happening, do not be afraid. The great falling away is now beginning as churches mix Christianity with pagan religions. Remember, even Satan knows the Bible forward and backwards including end-time events and will deceive many Christians, even the elect, to believe otherwise. Don't develop a Christian religion, but a strong relationship with God.
---Steveng on 5/15/07

I suggest starting your own home church and get to really know the people in your group. The war on Christianity is heating up and belonging to an organized church will be difficult much like in China and India. Belonging to a megachuch, you are only a face in the crowd. Belonging to a samll home group, you are able to encourage each other in your spiritual walk on a daily basis. Learn from the Apostles on starting your own home church. Learn from the growth of the grapevine.
---Steveng on 5/15/07

I dont think it will be long before Jesus Returns to rapture those who are ready to go. Because this world is definately growing worse and the Bible says that unless the Lord shortened the days no flesh shall be saved..close to that point in my idea.

He's coming back in the twinkling of an eye. It just doesn't say whose eye. Jesus will return when the Father tells Him to return. We need to be focusing of being ready for His return regardless of when it happens.
---Susie on 5/15/07

It could be in the next few hours. Or it could be before I type my reply in. No one knows when Christ is coming back. Not even the angels. If people knew when Jesus was coming back, they would live their life anyway they want and wait until time gets closer then start living for God. To some people it isn't soon enough, to others it is too soon. I do know that it will get worse before it gets better.

Jack - People have also been saying he is never coming back ever since the ascention. Does that invalidate my belief also? What is your point?

Phil - If it's pointless to speculate on this then why did you speculate that it could be in a moment or not in my lifetime? Didn't you just contradict yourself?

People have been saying, "He'll return in my lifetime" ever since the Ascension.

He'll get here when He gets here.

However, remember the Bible experts of 2000 years ago had it worked out according to their reading of the Scriptures exactly WHAT the Messiah would do when He came. He came, He didn't follow their agenda, and so they rejected Him.

Let this be a warning to us.
---Jack on 5/15/07

Speculation on this topic is pointless it could be in a moment or or not in our lifetime. The only important thing is be constantly prepared for his return.

If it is not in your life time you well see Christ at the general resurrection when your eternal life will begin.
