I love Starbucks coffee. I haven't noticed anything written on the cups. I'm more interested in the contents of said cup. They are really no more expensive than any other coffee shop for regular plain old brewed coffee. It's the lattes and cappuccinos that are expensive, but it's a real treat to splurge on the pumpkin spice latte every so often. Mmm good.
---ralph7477 on 11/4/09

Are they really "anti-Bible"? I haven't been to Starbucks for a long time (very overpriced)
---Donna66 on 11/3/09

Where is the boycott information in respect to Star Backs? The one that needs to be organized due to the hate filled anti-Christian messages on their cups. Insulting God, how inane is this. Rhetorical.
---Jay on 11/2/09

So simple. If Christians quit throwing $3-$4 at Starbucks for overpriced coffee/aday, they'll take them off the shelves. Do your realize that's about $80.00/month you would save on high priced drinks. I'm a coffee lover, I make my own.

I got my response.funny it was a generic letter neither confirming or dening my question. now for the kicker my daughter emailed them as well and got the exact response. So I will never return to Starbucks again.
this is a stand I have to make.

NR said, "History is filled with people who "spoke for God". Toms de Torquemada, David Koresh, Joseph Smith, Jim Jones all "spoke for God."
These people did not speak FOR God. They may have spoke OF God like some here do.
If they had spoke for God they would have stayed within the guidelines of Scripture.
Will we ever realize that everyone who says lord, lord is not Saved?
Scripture Truth is the test.
---Elder on 5/28/07

*History is filled with people who "spoke for God". Toms de Torquemada, David Koresh, Joseph Smith, Jim Jones all "spoke for God."*

When someone comes saying they are speaking for God do the word test. "Test the spirits to see if they are of God" If what they say harmonizes with scripture and doesn't contradict it then you can bet it is a Biblically sound and Godly message.
---Matthew on 5/28/07

NurseRobert, all I can say is I guess I was standing up for Catherine. She is a very Godly woman with a very deep love for God. A very wonderful, humble, kind, and God loving heart she has. Please start reading her reponses so you can get to know her a little better.

Matthew, I have no issues of listening to God, but I question some of those who speak for God. History is filled with people who "spoke for God". Toms de Torquemada, David Koresh, Joseph Smith, Jim Jones all "spoke for God."

I would rather have an open debate on these issues that slam the door because I don't like what people are saying.
---NurseRobert on 5/27/07

Nurse Robert, all Christians should be speaking for God. All Christians should have a constant desire for more of God's knowledge, and yes he does answers those prayers and at times will tell us "I permit this", "I don't like this", "This is wrong in my eyes" etc. He won't always say it directly but he will with our current knowledge of HIs word reason things out for us and help us come to a conclusion of how God does see certain things. Revelations do happen.
---Mathew on 5/27/07

I remember one time I all of a sudden was inundated with this straneg amazing feeling. I saw people the way God sees people. I saw each lost person as the most important thing in the world. You may say "well each CVhristian should have a love for the lost." I agree but this was much different. The way I felt was inhuman and unnatural(no human being could feel this way about people). I saw a glimpse of how God sees the lost. A revelation. These things do happen.
---Matthew on 5/27/07

As do you Catherine, but I don't profess to speak for God.

Randy are you saying that you want someone to tell you a lie before they tell you the truth?
It appears that we are saying that it makes no matter how bad your deed is if you do a good deed to make up for the bad one.

In the eyes of God if Starbucks is allowing Anti-Bible slogans on their coffee cups then they are just as guilty as the company that is endorsing them.
---catherine on 5/24/07

Catherine, you said.." Well, it really does not matter much to God who is souly responsible, starbucks, is in the eyes of God, just as guilty."

Did God tell you this, or are you just stating opinion?
---NurseRobert on 5/24/07

I went to their site and read many of the cup slogans. I found two that support ID over evolution. I think they are just trying to get a cross sections of belief and getting people to think and to talk.
---randy on 5/24/07

Well, it really does not matter much to God who is souly responsible, starbucks, is in the eyes of God, just as guilty. God does not take kindly to anti Bible slogans, and we wonder why God doesn't step in and make things better for us. Stay tuned.

Mary, Jesus said that and I just used it in reference to the Starbucks ordeal. They seem to be riding the proverbial fence by printing both Biblical slogans and also ones that are anti-Christ. No man can serve two masters... and it appears that Starbucks will sellout at any time for the patrons money.
---MARK_N on 5/23/07

Regardless, if they're promoting them, and sitting on the shelves - thoughts are feelings.
---HalfnHalf on 5/23/07

Lord have mercy on us. There is so much "The sky is falling" going on these days. I think the book is called "Chicken Little."

Please, must everything be a conspiracy? What concerns me is that little research is done before everyone is boycotting a product, and refusing to consider what is really happening. To do otherwise is to bear false witness against a neighbor. Isn't that a violation of one of the ten commandments? Don't we call that sin?
---Madison1101 on 5/23/07

These are not Starbucks slogans. If they were, there would be no need for the disclaimer that comments are the opinion of the author and not necessarily theirs. A slogan is a brief, catchy phrase used in advertising. Like Amex's "Don't leave home without it" or McDonald's "I'm lovin' it". These are comments from a diverse representation of Starbucks patrons. Some we will agree with and some we won't, but that's all that they are...customer thoughts and comments, not slogans.

Also found on a starbuck's cup:

You are not an accident. Your parents may not have planned you, but God did. He wanted you alive and created you for a purpose. Focusing on yourself will never reveal your purpose. You were made by God and for God, and until you understand that, life will never make sense. Only in God do we discover our origin, our identity, our meaning, our purpose, our significance, and our destiny. -- Dr. Rick Warren, author of "The Purpose-Driven Life."

Thanks for warning me. I do not go there and now I won't ever go there.
---catherine on 5/22/07

On a cup: "Why in moments of crisis do we ask God for strength and help? As cognitive beings, why would we ask something that may well be a figment of our imaginations for guidance? Why not search inside ourselves for the power to overcome? After all, we are strong enough to cause most of the catastrophes we need to endure." by- Bill Schell, a customer. The quote is the author's opinion. "As someone who loves God, I was so offended by that." said Michelle Incanno, a Catholic.
---Eloy on 5/23/07

Hi Mark, I'm sorry but I don't understand what you meant by that. Of course one is either for or against Christ; my point was simply that we need to be careful before we rush into judgment of something that may not be completely true. So was surprised at your answer; if you could explain, I'd appreciate it :) Thanks :)

Well then, it's a blessing in disguise the way I see it, its a great motivator to givem some competition and launch a new "GodsDay Late's" and have every cofee written with a ''scripture verse of the day'' on every cup sold. Just thinkin out of the box.

---anonymous on 5/22/07

I went down to Starbucks and got one of their cups.

On the side it has the following

"The Way I see it #245

A person's pursuit of goodness leads to greatness, but the pursuit of greatness leads to ruin. Pursue goodness & you will achieve great things" John E. Kramer, VP Pres for communication, Inst. for Justice

At the bottom

willow - *I actually emailed Starbuckson 5/18 about these acussations, I will let ya all know what they have to say*

Many of these companies are protective of their image and if others were to email Starbucks then they also will remove these kinds of things from the public eye. It has worked with other companies, and it will work with Starbucks.

Rebecca...I have always hated coffee too.
Everytime I changed jobs over the years the women in the office always tried to make me try their coffee. The taste is just awful. And, Starbucks is just another fad that will pass and go broke within a few years.

Hi Jeb; you make a VERY GOOD point there; thanks, brother. :) I used to believe everything on the net that claimed to be a "Christian" email--but I've learned. :/ A perfect example is the one about Bush misquoting a Scripture--then I saw an exact duplicate of it claiming Kerry as the offender! You are very right--we need to check stuff out.
---Mary on 5/21/07

If people would do more than take a cursury look at this situation. These saying are NOT by Starbucks, but was done as an open dialog with the people who frequent Starbucks. These "sayings" are not necessarily the opinion of the company.

If people would spend the time to look into this they would find that they also print PRO-God sayings.
---NurseRobert on 5/21/07

Are you sure these slogans are put out by Starbucks? We should talk what we know and testifie what we have seen. One of the great commandments of the bible is not to bear false witness.

I read some of those slogans and will not set foot into a Starbucks again. Why would any Christian want to drink out of a cup that promotes the gay lifestyle and puts down conventional family life?
I quote one cup.
"My only regret about being gay is that I repressed it for so long. I surrendered my youth to the people I feared when I could have been out there loving someone. Dont make that mistake yourself. Lifes too **** short. "
---john on 5/19/07

I don't have to worry about that, I hate coffee. And besides what they say or write isn't going to effect my walk with God.

I never knew that they did that. But then I don't drink at Starbucks.

A national convenience store chain in Canada was going to put a very poor taste ad for a new drink product involving a nun, but they pulled it very quickly.

I am curious as to what those 'anti-bible' slogans are.

I belong to a coffee club and enjoy the different flavors of coffee I can order from them.

There is also an ad on Christianet for a coffee club if you wish to join one and they have literature concerning all the different types of coffee you can order.

This is sad but no surprise to me. I have noticed a great move towards completely stomping out Christianity in this Country which is part of the preparation for the comming of the antichrist who will bring his own religion. They removed Bibles from a model Federal prison and other prisons are to follow suit. I wonder if they will eventually ban owning a Bible? Scary . I'm frantically reading mine . I praise God for it! What a priveldge.
---jody on 5/19/07

Could you be specific about the slogans? Not saying they don't, but I can't recall Starbuck's having a slogan. However, I've seen interesting quotes on their cups which are authored by other people. I also visited their site where all of the quotes are featured in a section titled: "The Way I See It" with a disclaimer that reads: The opinions put forth by contributors to The Way I See It do not necessarily reflect the views of Starbucks.
