Is Classic Rock Occultic

Need answer fast;In my daughters high school class the English instructer played a 'classic rock' album called "Dark side of the Moon." He wants the students to listen again and write a paper on it. I am a single Mom, and I heard this is occultic. Am I over reacting?

Classic rock is almost never occultic. Anything written before 1975 should be 'safe'. After that you have to worry about progressively sleazier lyrics. But not occultism.

Metal is different from classic rock--the closer to death metal, the more occult the lyrics are likely to be.

And modern folk is frequently Pagan, and occasionally occultic. (There IS a difference between the two.) But you can usually tell by the titles and album covers, so no worries there.

No, you are not over-reacting. You have every right to help guide your child into the kinds of music that you know will honour GOD. And you have the right as a christian, assuming you are one, to know what your child is being taught and what she is "expected" to get involved in at school. I posted before. The LORD has convicted me of Rock music in general, both secular and "christian".

Cont...I've done some more research of Rock music. As a christian you HAVE to. This music really does have it's roots in the world. It was tough ridding of my "beloved" music. Though I do have a few milder and more wholesome songs left. A good 95% went in the trash where it belongs. We are to be separate from the world. And music was created to glorify The LORD GOD (YAHUVEH).

Cont....I'm sure this posting is too late. But, certainly from now on it is wisest to go through music with your daughter, etc... to listen ultimately what will honour The LORD. I'm in my 40's and looking back I wish some Christian would have "guided" me. But, I suppose I don't KNOW that I would have listened. But, as a concerned parent, it's BEST that you are involved. As a parent you DO have that right AND the resposibility. GOD (YAHUVEH) bless you!

i am strict in my home. What our children do when they are grown and out is up to them. I allow NO SECULAR MUSIC in the home, yes, that includes classic music, which often has pagan themes. When my son declared he wanted support for college, support for bible college only as so-called evangelical colleges compromise. Give the devil an inch and he will take a mile. "Dark side of the Moon." I never heard of it, it's not in my home!

Some of those rock stars sold their souls for Rock & Roll. The cold part about it is that it was on the radio and we sung along to it. (i.e. Witchy Woman, Black Magic Woman
and many others) Stick with gospel and you can't go wrong....

Ah, your school tax dollars hard at work. Four years of college to get a teaching degree and this is the assignment that the teacher comes up with? I would be more upset that such a stupid exercise is passed off as high school academics.

In a word, no, it's just a song.

They reallized by playing this music they invited Satan into their home a spirit which brought chaos and battles into their home, they called on the blood of Jesus to protect them God was faithful by bringing cds. and listening people are not aware of the evil powers of suggestion through their eyes, ears, mouth, these are the very entrace ways the demons come into a persons, home, body, heart, etc...

All rock music is intense. Why do musicians sing and breath into the microphone? It is appealing to the lust of the flesh. 1 John 2:15-17 and 2 Timothy 4:3-4 What if the message of a rock song is good? Demons have witnessd for Jesus, He rebuked and silenced them Mark 1:25 Luke4:41 Why must Christians not Love worldly music? Loving the worlds music deadens sensitivity to evil. ABHOR EVIL Romans 12:9 Part 3

I once heard this story of these missionarys, who had children who brought a christian contemporary music when they played the music a Christian man came to the door and asked them why they were playing witch doctors music and calling on Satan? That man has left the heathen practices whis included calling evil spirits. He recognized the christian music as the same kind of music that called down evil spirits into his room, part4

Listen to the song, and judge for yourself. It is a very classic song by Pink Floyd. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

I remember in my younger days of hearing this story of a couple who were in a Christian rock band, husband played a bass guitar, and they also played regular rock music, but they had been learning about ''backward masking'' turning the music backwards, they took music they could not understand, and began playing it backwards spiritual ears were opened, they heard the most gross distortion, it was the most EERIE, AND evil, satanic WORDS coming forth, TERROR came over them, this couple realized that PART5

Your words are ambiguous. Are you saying that you have determined that "Dark Side of the Moon" is occultic from your own listening to it, or you've simply heard through the grapvine that it is occultic, though you've not heard the recording itself?

One thing you should resign yourself to: As long as your daughter is alive, regardless of what school she attends, there will be ideas and cultural things you don't like that you will not be able to protect her from.

I am currently doing some study on quantum physics in conjunction to relational sounds and words on plant life, and human brain, and heart. First and foremost, I would like to tell you that as a single mom I commend you on your in tunness, to this subject, as there is far more to it then meets the ear. Let me begin by quoting this scripture; "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment" MATTHEW 12:36 .....Part one.

Dear "Mom", I'm a christian and I've been listening to classic rock for some time. But, lately I have doubts about a LOT of SECULAR rock music. Either GOD (YAHUVEH) is IN IT or He ISN'T. In '82 I had Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" and it is QUITE worldly. Some artists are more in-your-face about their sinful ways and personal beliefs and do not care nor believe that it affects young ones. But, it does. When I was in H.S. as a new christian I listened to KISS. I wish I HADN'T of.

There are behavioral patterns and effects of sound and words, that pass from your ears and into your heart. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad" 2 Corinthians 5:10 the study of science and behavior for ability of sound does often suggest erotic movement. An imbalanced beat in music can actually bring physical weakness, it has accoustical effects in the body. PT2.

It's is a valid assignment have her write the paper. If you have trained her properly you should have nothing to worry about. She is being exposed to lyrics that are a lot worse on radio and TV.

Do some research yourself and learn what the lyrics say. I Googled the album and read the lyrics and personally only found one song offensive.

"Dark side of the moon" is written by Pink Floyd. Is it occultic? It can be. I have met some people that worship music. Pink Floyd is your typical psychodellic type music. Sit down with your daughter listen to the album and discuss it. If I remember it's also very politically driven music.
---Ryan_Z on 5/24/07

Darkside of the moon was a very popular album in the 1970's, by a group called Pink Floyd.
In and of itself, Pink Floyd ere never involved in the occult, not like Black Sabbath, or the Beatles.
Musically, I would not think soi, I didn't like the album or the group, but my tastes run to opera and classical music.
