Agree Ed.

Phil 2

Let nothing be [done]through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others...
---char on 10/4/10

Perhaps, the reason for our Anemic brand of Christianity today, Is because of our low view of God. God revealed Himself incarnationally through His Son Jesus Christ, so He may be known.
---catherine on 6/16/07

I believe true believers should be united and not divided by their differences. I believe there are things God wants to accomplish through His church that will not happen otherwise.
---maryj9396 on 6/15/07

Is that why you're adopting every view temporarily, for unity?
---Mahesh on 6/14/07

Christian unity is a beautiful thing, but we must guard against uniting by compromising the truth. What fellowship does light have with darkness? We can love all, without compromising the truth, which is Jesus Christ.
As the last part says, intent on 1 purpose (Jesus). Not done in the flesh, but by the Spirit
---Christina on 6/14/07

Yes...and christian unity begins with You! Each believer has that responsibility. If we all did what we could to maintain the unity and the bond of affection between us, we could have a piece of heaven, right here on Earth. Let's keep fighting on. Jesus is on the Way!
---Robyn on 6/13/07

There can never be Christian unity until we obey God from our hearts, believing what God says by faith even when we don't understand.

As long as we insist on understanding before we believe or obey, we will always be deceived by Satan. Satan operates in our minds. God operates in our hearts.
---a_servant on 6/13/07

Yes, we should be working more towards Christian unity; and this is done "by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose".

So, just changing doctrines to be the same . . . this can be SUPERFICIAL unity. Integrating services CAN be merely superficial . . . making gestures.

Unity is already present in OBEYING the ruling of God's peace in our hearts, "in one body" (Colossians 3:15)
---Bill_bila5659 on 6/13/07

A hypocrite is someone who outwardly pretends to be good. Actually, the fact that Christianty attracts phonies is a sure sign that it is real. And a Biblical Christian is one who admits he or she is a sinner.
---catherine on 6/13/07

Ed; that maybe true where you live, but here nothing has changed. The only time people are nice to eachother is the first of the month when they get their checks .Then during the month or at the end, people are grouchy because they have no money. the problem people has and will always have is they let their religion beliefs get in the way, and insteading of tearing down the walls between them, they build it up even higher. Not many people want to do the will of God, it is either their way or no way.
---Rebecca_D on 6/5/07

Church Unity might be closer than you think.
Did you know, for example, that Justification, the main divisor in the Reformation, is now no longer a dividing issue between Catholics, Lutherans and Methodists. In fact they have now come up with a shared doctrine of faith over this. If you don't believe me: look it up on the internet!
---Ed on 6/4/07

How can you be so sure that you are not guilty of these?
The most important, the core of our faith is Christian Love - no false prophet can fake this. Even Peter who Jesus loved massively said things that Jesus' rebuked him for. No-one is perfect. And we can't all know everything and be right and be without sin. Our main focus is two follow out Jesus' two greatest commandments 'Love God and Love neighbour' - fact, just read the New Testament.
---Ed on 6/4/07

Yes and we are moving toward more unity. Each generation learns better how to do this.People of all colors and creeds are coming together as well. When we learn better. We can do better. I would like to see more people of color worship together. More of a melting pot or mixture. Crying out to God, worshipping together. Now just whites or blacks but all colors...together. What a beautiful sight that would be.
---Robyn on 6/3/07

Go ahead, Ed.
The Bible says come out from among them and be separate. We are to separate ourselves from false religion and expose the works of darkness, expose false religion and not join ourselves to it.
Uniting with those who carry the name of Jesus on the front doors only, practice doctrines of demons; that's not anything I want to be a part of.
---Jenny on 6/3/07

Sooo Important. When paul wrote Phil.2:2, it was some 2000 yrs ago. Since then, we have done exactly the opposite of that scripture. We have factioned off into so many denominations due to arguements over man made doctrines that at this point it is questionable as to whether or not there are any churches without false doctrine at all! What have we done with the doctrine of Jesus Christ? Killed it with greed and religious pride.
---jody on 6/3/07

I believe Rebecca D has a point. Believers do not always have the same ideas on religion. We can still have the one, true, living, breathing, talking, God in us. We just all got to get along.

Come on Rebecca.
Have a bit more optimism. Think the impossible. Through God we can achieve anything. I mean Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Surely if we have the will to follow God on this we can achieve anything (through Him).
---Ed on 6/3/07

I believe the Church is moving to unity as human wisdom gives way to the wisdom of God, as the body of Christ gets edified and sanctified and have right relationship with God, and as the body of Christ increases with the knowledge of the word of God.

We all can contribute to that in whichever denomination we are.
---Ephre3798 on 6/3/07

The reason why people can't come together now, like they did way back when, is because there is no many differences. People doesn't see eye to eye. Either you believe the way they do or your not a believer at all. You've said, God works in people whom let him work. God can't work in an unwilling person.
---Rebecca_D on 6/2/07

If you want us to be unified then work towards agreeing with me... oops! Now you see where the problem is that won't go away until Jesus returns. There are many different ideas floating around in the christian community, but some cannot be confirmed or denied without specific knowledge from God. Until then we will remain united in Christ, but divided in word.

George Washington===1783 [man it will be fun to meet him someday] He said, "Without an humble imitation" of the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion...we can never hope to be a happy nation. George Washington, now he had wisdom from God. Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. They are the essential pillars of Society. Bite the dust.++

Ghandi won peaceful independence from Britian (when there could have been catastrophic bloodshed).
Nelson Mandela got rid of apartheid through peaceful means (40 years ago whoever would have guessed).
Nothern Ireland, consumed by fear and hostility (and over 3,000 people dead) have now reached a peaceful aggreement and working together.

If they can do it why can't we (and the Bible is full of the necessity of Christian unity - God can work wonders in those who allow Him to).
---Ed on 6/2/07

Ed, there's a potential danger here for falling for the One World Church.
There's already the Unity Church of Christianity, which is strictly a new age church, metaphysical, "Course of Miracles" (sounds good, but new age all the way). We have far too many denominational differences to unite, and that's ok with me. Iron sharpens iron.
---Jenny on 6/2/07

I think we want others to be wrong so that we can be right and feel comfortable about ourselves (me included ..). St Paul says you can understand all things, have faith to move mountains, but if you have no love then it is all useless.

People will never come together as unity. There are to many different demonations/religions. I can worship God with anyone, as long as they are a true christian. It doesn't matter what race, or religion they are. The only time people will come together and set their differences aside is if a tragedy happens, like New Orleans, or the WTC. Any other time you can forget it. There are a few people that will come together and be in unity, but not all.
---Rebecca_D on 6/1/07

Ed, I asked this question a long time ago: Since we are all of the same Holy Spirit, and since we have Him dwelling in us, why are we so argumentative? Criticizing everyone's answers on this blog? attacking one another? There are people here who don't answer the question that is posted, but instead they attack everyone else's answer. Is that because they are not of the same spirit that we are? The Holy Spirit?

Amen, Ryan Z, Amen.
---Linda on 6/1/07

The way congregations are taught today you'd think that scritpure should be reworded to say, "Make my joy complete and being of the same mind, maintaining the same doctrine, united in theology, intent on always being right."

Totally agree w/ you betty 100%...and it gets to the point that sometimes if different knowledge is not the same as the little theological box they've made in their head then they say its false...
---mark_B. on 5/31/07

Yes we should but too many Christians are so stuck on what their denominations believe and everyone else is wrong that unless God moves, unity will never be seen on earth.
