I have many Calvinist friends and they love to use this particular scripture. Now while I tend to be very Calvinist myself still I cannot accept irresistible grace. I believe the individual must choose.

Basically, it means that he does everything.

-1-
God is omnipotent. He has ultimate responisibility for everything.

Satan is called prince, because he works for & answers to the KING. Satan could not bring evil against Job without God's help.

Job 1
God provided Satan authority, removed the hedge, provided the fire to attack Job. Job recognizes this as God's work.

Job 2:3
God takes responsibility for all damage.

Search "I will bring" and see how much evil the Lord wrought in Jeremiah.

Job 12:16 ...the deceived and the deceiver are his.
Pr 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Is 54:16 Behold . . . I have created the waster to destroy.
---a_servant on 6/13/07

Excellent, Toby. Also the Word tells us that He created the waster to destroy. A lot of people will look at that and think, "Well, He created the waster to destroy us." No. He created the waster to destroy and Jesus, by passing through death, destroyed him who had the power of death, that is, the devil. Praise the Lord.

To explain as asked.
Is 45:2, I (Yahushua our Saviour) will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: (He was the one in the pillar of smoke that led the Israelites out of Egypt) I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: (He opens the doors for us, and leads us out of captivity)Cont V3
---Toby on 6/6/07

Cont:V3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness (make known treasures or mysteries that have been closed since the beginning), and hidden riches of secret places (blessed beyond measure), that thou mayest know that I, Yahushua, which call thee by thy name, (he knows us by name) am the Mighty One (Hebrew: Elohiym) of Israel.
Cont:V4
---Toby on 6/6/07

ContV4 For Jacob (whose name was changed to Israel) my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect (Those called by Yahueh and given to Yahushua), I have even called thee by thy name: (again Yahushua makes it clear he knows our name and talks to us by name) I have surnamed thee (What is our surname? We are Sons of Yahueh) , though thou hast not known me. (Even those who dont know Yahueh will one day have the opportunity to also be Sons)cont:5
---Toby on 6/6/07

ContV5 I am Yahushua, and there is none else, there is no "Mighty One" beside me: (as the one dealing directly with the people)I girded thee,(looked after, protected) though thou hast not known me:(Yahushua did this even when we didnt know him) Cont:6
---Toby on 6/6/07

Cont:V6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, (saying dawn of day and from the east) and from the west, (end of day and setting of sun) that there is none beside me.(He is explaining his position as the creator) I am Yahushua, and there is none else. (and that is true he is the creator and the one with the Father at the beginning) cont7
---Toby on 6/6/07

Cont:V7 I form the light, and create darkness:(read Genesis) I make peace, and create evil:(This is the crux of your Q. Remember Yahushua was given the job from Yahueh to be the Creator and He created everything visible and invisible, except himself and Yahueh. Therefore he created Lucifer who became evil, and therefore as Yahushua created Lucifer ergo he created evil. By the way this is also why Yahushua offered himself.) I Yahushua do all these things. (He is the creator)Cont8
---Toby on 6/6/07

Cont:V8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness(spirit comes a bit at a time, and the spirit is his righteousness) let the earth open,(we as those here on earth must have our minds open to truth) and let them bring forth salvation (If we are open to receive & abide with truth we will obtain tosalvation) and let righteousness spring up together;(Yahueh's righteousness/fruit of the spirit)I Yahushua have created it.(This is true because Yahushua did it) Hope this helps.

The several verses before this one and shortly after, taken as a whole, is God clearly saying that He is the only being capable of doing such things, has done them, and therefore none is greater than Him. He is expressing His absolute control over things which are beyond our understanding and capabilities.
---Anthony on 6/5/07

It is exactly as it seems. God created everything. Maybe you are confused because it says that God does not tempt humans with evil. This is true that he does not temt man and cannot be tempted but this does not mean that He did not create everything. He created both the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. It is so sad that we had to learn about the knowledge of good and evil.
---jody on 6/5/07

In the begining God said, "Let there be light." Thus he formed the day for man to live in. The tree of knowledge in the middle of the garden, created by God, was the choice that man made to break God's law, thus darkness began. He wanted peace but man chose evil by eating from the tree of Good and Evil created by God. All things are from God.Both good and evil because He is everything.
---Brenda on 6/5/07

He "forms" light which, as a result of there being light, exposes darkness where the light is not shining???

Like this > ? ? ? > He makes peace, and this makes evil kind of stand out as being evil, once there is peace to show it up ? (-:} ?

Kind of like how while there was no law, there was no transgression > "because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgressioin." (Romans 4:15)

God creation has opposites, have you noticed?up,down, good, evil, left right, war, peace.but most of all our free will choice which God gave us so we would love him freely.satan was once an angel, loved most by God,but he chose darkness, sin, true darkness is lack of spiritual commune with God,and sin creates evil.Godallows it because of free will.

I believe it is saying the ''foolishness'' of God in the tip of his little toe nail on his left foot dumbfolds the very wisest and uttermost ''educated'' man/woman/being ever made on his planet/heavens above if they could ever be so ridiculous to even think they can Fathem the basics of Creation.

God is God we better believe it.

There is nothing he cannot do HE (just)IS and DID. He uses the foolishness of scriptures in order for us mere flesh and bone,to try to understand the Gospels, AMEN
---Carla5754 on 6/4/07

I make peace [put here for all good] and I create evil, NOT the evil of sin [God is not the author of that] God hates sin- but the evil of punishment, He did create.
---catherine on 6/4/07

This verse speaks to the SOVEREIGNTY of God. I also believe that it alludes to predestination. If we would pray less to change God's mind and give him praise for what he is already decided upon perhaps we would find more answers to our questions.

All it's saying is that God creates light & allows darkness; makes peace & allows evil.
