Hi, Ashley . . .

I understand, that Jesus means I must not condemn a wrong person as having no hope.

But I DO need to correctly evaluate how someone is right or wrong . . . so I make sure I don't go along with someone's wrong influence or follow someone's bad example of how to be and how to relate with other people. So, I DO need to judge >

"'Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.'" (John 7:24)

With God we can judge reliably (-:}

We have to love Gods people in spite of how we may think or feel, ours is not to judge ours is to love!!!!!!!!!!!!!
---LINDA_TOLSTON on 7/17/07

We should be more merciful and understanding toward others. Willing to forgive when and where needed. Speak out on evil and take action where needed. Do all things in love.
---Robyn on 7/17/07

Kitso, you are too much! I believe that we are to be spirit tryers and fruit inspectors, but this implies only a logical deduction made in reference to the outward characteristics of others. The problem comes when we attempt to judge the motives and intents of the hearts of others. This is the exclusive province of God, and is "off limits" to us. Does that sound too judgemental?
---jerry6593 on 7/17/07

The only Judge is Christ he alone say's depart from me, and the outlook is death for the second time. But Judge whether a thing is right or wrong according to his word we have that right. But to condemn a person to hell no! even thou people do, it's wrong! Wisdom is what is in that statement.

DON'T Judge a person to harm forgetting your past you'll end up judged by the the same method when YOU stand before CHRIST if your Judgment causes an ill fate towards that person.
---Carla5754 on 7/17/07

WE ARE TO JUDGE: this scripture actually means we are not to pass sentence. We must judge all things, people, prophets, prophecies etc.
---Andrea on 7/17/07

Judge not that you be Judge not means: That no Christian has the right to treat anyone in a degrading way just because they feel that their sins are greater then their own. However we are to test the spirits and we are to be discerning in who we keep company with. This is not Judging this is wisdom. Read The whole book of Proverbs it will teach you the difference.
---Marcia on 7/17/07

Jesus said we are to judge (John 7:24). He condemned only hyocritical judgment.

Strange, this fad to judge people as judgmental!
---Ktisophilos on 7/17/07

We are not to judge because we are not the Creator,Almighty God. We only see the outside. God sees the heart of everyone.
---Cynthia on 7/16/07

We are not to judge and if we judge we will be juged accordingly by the Lord. Mathew 7
---Sonya on 6/12/07

Not to argue ourselves right > we can get defensive, justifying our own selves and this can get us DECOYED from dealing with what we need to deal with about ourselves >
---Bill_bila5659 on 6/12/07

"For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?" (1 Peter 4:17)

We in the church of God are the ones who are right, by obeying God; yet, it says WE are the ones who get judged FIRST . . . BEFORE the ones of the world who are WRONG ? ? ?

This shows me that if I am the one who is right in a problem with someone, I need to judge my own self first.
---Bill_bila5659 on 6/12/07

Linda: In love to others I judge according to the scriptures. Jesus called Sin, sin. The Apostles called sin, sin. They did not condemn but they did warn.

Only the self-righteous would ignore giving the warning to souls headed for perdition.

"Sin is the Transgression of the Law"

"Til heaven and Earth are no more, not one jot nor tittle shall in no wise pass from the Law (Commandments)"

"If you Love Me Keep My Commandments" Jesus circa 31AD.
---TS on 6/11/07

First, we are not to judge others - Col 2:16; we are to judge ourselves - I Cor. 6:5; I Cor. 11:31. The only person we can do anything about is ourselves. We are not to judge ourselves by the law, but by Paul's gospel - rom. 2:16. If we don't judge ourselves, then Christ will judge or chasten us - I Cor. 11:32. We are being judged right now, here on earth by Jesus Christ according to Paul's gospel. When we appear before the righteous Judge, it will not to be judged, but to receive rewards - I Tim. 4:8.
---Debbie_Jo on 6/8/07

Sue, it is true. If you judge a brother, you do judge yourself since we are all members of one body and are all one bread. If we are to esteem others higher than ourselves and we judge them and bring them down, they are still higher than we are. At the very most, you are rock bottom when you judge another unrighteously outside of love.
---Linda on 6/8/07

Unrighteous judgment is a result of pride and self-righteousness...and the proud will fall in his own deceit. We are to judge thus, that if one died for all, then were all dead. That is righteous judgment because all are found within the final offering for sin.

Ashley...You failed to mention that Joseph Smith in HIS "Inspired Version" of the Bible, changed this verse to read, "Judge not lest yea judge righteously."
---Susie on 6/8/07

Eloy: Thank you for posting those Scriptures. I suppose judgements (discernments) and calling sin, sin is Ok ;)
---TS on 6/8/07

Ya know, that verse is SO true! In my life, before I learned how not to judge, every time I judged somebody the same thing would happen to me. Sometimes years later, sometimes the next day! But thats how I learned NOT to judge because it could be me.
---sue on 6/8/07

In God's Spirit, we can judge correctly. Judge what God wants. Only God can know what in His heart He wants...what He means by His word. So I need to submit to Him, all the time, to be led to do what He knows at each moment He so desires to share with us.

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

In the ruling of God's peace, we have His good judgement.

So, I can't trust how I see things and judge about things, while I am depressed or nastily reacting or not having compassion for people who are wrong.

But I need to see how I see things once I am in God's peace.

"And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment." (Philippians 1:9)

God's love gives me creative "discernment" to judge what good I can do to love each person...having God's "knowledge" in His love.
---Bill_bila5659 on 6/8/07

God's love gives us SENSE, deeper than words or intellectual knowledge scholarly > "But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." (Hebrews 5:14)

Discerning means judging, with LOVE.

Jesus says to REBUKE a sinning brother (Luke 17:3); in order to rebuke correctly, you have to judge; and you rebuke in order to bring reconciliation. But wrong people feel rejected by loving rebuke.
---Bill_bila5659 on 6/8/07

The Bible gives us very clear instructions on how to judge others. If someone wrongs you, you go to that person and confront them and have it made right. If they refuse to make it right, then you take one or two witnesses together with you to the offender and have the offense corrected. But if the sinner still refuses to hear, tell the church, and if the sinner refuses the church, then judge the sinner as a heathen and a worldly person. Matthew 18:15-20.

2- It doesn't matter what anyone thinks through personal opinion. I asked the question 'what does it mean to christians to judge not'. I have learned from many of the responses and my knowledge grew. the reason I blasted the moderator is because he or she said mormons follow a different Jesus. what does that have to do with the blog, nothing. it was inserted to stir contention and put people off the topic at hand. We are studying the bible, not the National Enquirer for gossip.
---ashley on 6/7/07

Ashley says, "moderator judged inappropriately in their response. if they are not leading by example, can we we trust them with any response they give. it is very shallow to deceive anyone on purpose. as ye judge ye shall also be judged. this blog was asked to teach how to judge, not ridicule others."

You can't handle the truth, Ashley. Do you think for one minute, the Christians would be allowed on your mormon websites to tell the truth? Absolutely not.
---Frederick on 6/7/07

Ashley, why you've posted this blog is part of the spin. You would like to stifle all of the mormon blogs. That is your sole purpose for being here. If you can use spiritual threats, even use the Word to place fear in the hearts of those who oppose you; then you feel you have accomplished your purpose.
The devil can quote the Word, too; he also uses the Word against people.
I can see through it, your questions and motives are manipulative.
---Delbert on 6/7/07

The term "Judge" refers to final condemnation. We are to discern where people are spiritually and try to help them before time runs out and the Judgement comes.

"Know ye not that ye shall Judge Angels?"

We should point out sin and error. We should point them to the cure...and "If they will not recieve you then kick the dust from your feet as a testimony against them."

we are talking about judging others knowing that how we judge we will also be judged. what you sow, you will also reap. this blog was not to condemn anyone regardless of denomination, beliefs or faith. even the moderator judged inappropriately in their response. if they are not leading by example, can we we trust them with any response they give. it is very shallow to deceive anyone on purpose. as ye judge ye shall also be judged. this blog was asked to teach how to judge, not ridicule others.

1 Timothy 6

Are Mormons Going To Heaven
If you are Mormon and you got saved, will you still go to heaven even though you don't belive that its that easy?

Moderator - Mormons serve a different god than the God of the Bible, therefore they aren't saved to start with.

Ashley, this is part of your speal, and how you spin it. Spin doctors, if they can't defend the facts, spin it. That's what you're doing Ashley, spinning mormonism, reducing it down into homemade jelly, with a nice bow and nametag.
Here we come, two by two, with a demonic message just for you.
Those who haven't had much experience discerning what's going on behind the scenes, will take your jelly jar; a pandora's box. So Ashley, while you prey on the innocent, I recognize the spin.

accurately translated: "MISjudge not that you be not MISjudged." How do we know this is accurate? We know because Jesus did Command: "Judge righteous judgment." John 7:24.
---Eloy on 6/6/07

People in the flesh refuse to be corrected, but the spiritual are commanded to correct the disobedient. "But he that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. Brothers, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you all which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering yourself, else you also be tempted." I Corinthians 2:15; Galatians 6:1.
---Eloy on 6/6/07

Gee, many do know what it means to judge righteously. I posted this blog to see what would be said. we see someone living their lives in harmony with Jesus Christ, service to others, helping the needy, Loving Jesus with all their hearts and trying their best to live in the image of the Savior, but many times they are mocked, ridiculed or condemned for it. Why condemn anyone. Jesus said if ye love me, keep my commandments. If anyone does that, what gives others the right to judge them as evil.
---ashley on 6/6/07

the problem with judgment has to do with attitude. We are to rightly discern, and this is done by the spirit, not intellect. When done by the spirit, the attitude, or heart desire is for reconciliation, not condemnation. We must avoid being in league with the accuser.

Thank you, Ricky . . . nice to meet you, interesting and helpful things you shared.

Also, I need to judge others, in order to know they need help. And in God's love we have His caring judgement, for our good and the good of others . . . discernment >

1) Ashley - Please look at the next several verses to get the proper context (Matt.7:2-7:5,) then you will understand that it refers to not being a hypocrite when you judge others. Even the word "hypocrite" is specifically mentioned just four verses after the one you cited.
---Anthony on 6/5/07

2) To those who keep insisting on a blanket-coverage of non-judgment of others, even though it is not scriptural, let me ask you how you are able to function in life without judging others? It is not possible, because anytime you make a comparison of somebody with another, or decide that some aspect of them needs improving - both of which are key in getting rid of problems in society - you're judging them.
---Anthony on 6/5/07

3) Also, are you against the U.S. justice system? Do you think America should have no judges or juries - both of which are made of people judging others? Have you ever been on a jury? If so, and you criticize others for judging others, then that makes you a hypocrite - ironically, something Jesus was specifically trying to teach against when judging others!

John, its crazy though b/c people who judge others dont think they have a problem themselves
---mark_B. on 6/5/07

It means if your going to judge others, Christ is going to judge you. I figured out when someone harps on me for something, chances are they are doing the very same thing or worse. That is a transgressor, a hyprocrite. We can judge righteously, meaning their walk with God.
---Rebecca_D on 6/5/07

He showed that the moment you judge a person you yourself are judged. In Luke 6:38 He said it shall be given unto you a good measure.

It is the samething as sowing & reaping.
That is why Jesus said that a person should take the beam out of his own eye first.
---Rickey on 6/5/07

I believe that folks judge others because of the way they see themselves. Jesus said, " You shall love you neighbor as yourself". True that's a command, but it is true too. The way you love yourself is the way you will love others.

I say see yourself the way God does; as His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good work.(Ephesians 2:10) As the righteousness of God in Christ(2Corinthians 5:21) As a new creature in Christ(2Corinthians 5:17) As excepted in the Beloved(Ephesians 1:6)

Matt.7:1-5.To understand what it means we have to read those 5 verses. It tell us to not judge others when we have a bigger problem ourselves. First fix your own problem and then you can judge others.
---john on 6/4/07

It means we are to never make a conscious decision to condemn or declare other wrong or unjust based on our perceptions of them, their words or their actions. It is impossible for us to know the heart or inward intent of anyone. Any judgement we make concerning another can only be based on our sensual perceptions of them, & those perception can be & usually are deceiving. The only righteous judgement is the judging of self. If we judge self, we will not be judged & never feel any right to judge another.

The Bible explains that those who teach false doctrine will be destroyed.

2 Peter 2:1 - But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Jesus was only against hypocritical judging. Someday God's people will judge angels and the wicked people of this world. Hypocritical judging, like the pharisees was guilty of, is doing the same thing or similar and fussing or critizing someone for the same that you are guilty of doing. It was this, Jesus was always condemming the Pharisees for. Jesus had alot of problems with them and He did not like them very much.
