John 11:35, Jesus Wept. It says we have a very real compassionant Savior who really felt deep emotions toward His friends and family.

Well,Frank you either know what you are talking about or you don't. In any case Jesus wept--When Christ saw them in tears, He groaned in the spirit. In their afflicions, He is afflicted. Jesus as a man could weep. As He was going to the grave [Martha's brother"s] Jesus wept. He gave this proof of His divinity, He was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, as was fortold in Isa-3. We never read that He laughed.

Part of why he wept is because it says he was tempted in all points as man and knows what we feel that he might be a faithful High Priest. He knows exactly how we feel and can show the mercy many so-called Christians don't.

Harold, what are you talking about. The verse Jesus wept is the shortest verse in the bible. He wept because he heard Lazarus, one of three people he truly loved with all his heart had died. The others being Mary Magdeleine and Martha. He raised him from the dead, to show everyone he had power over life and death, the elements, nature and the demons he told to be silent. He didn't want them saying he was the Son of God or people would fear him and He could not be crucified and resurrected.

"Jesus wept", teaches us that we should stay awake in Sunday School class, so that we can forever remember that this is the shortest verse carved out by the King James translators. Perhaps they were aware that when the Saviour weeps over his lost people, it is time to end the verse.

"Jesus wept" (John 11:35). It teaches me that it is alright to cry, no matter what people might say. It is especially alright for men to cry.

Sorry for the wrong term. Revelation 22:21 Amen is the shortest sentence in the new testament. Not shortest scripture.

Jesus wept. John 11:35 To me, Jesus was crying because of the lack of faith that the people were demonstrating. Several times in the Bible, it said that Jesus wept, and I believe it was because of the lack of faith that they had. I wonder if He is weeping now, because of our lack of faith.

Jesus wept is the shortest NT verse. It says to me that Jesus is a High Priest who can sympathize with us because He knows what it is like to be human and feel what we feel.

God grieves and cries- Genesis 6:5-7; Judges 10:16; Jeremiah 48:30-33,36. God feels our pain- Hebrews 4:15,16.

Jesus wept.

This to me is one of the most powerful verses of scripture and sums up such an emotional heartfelt God.

"What is the shortest scripture in the New Testament?"

Jesus wept.

"what does it teach us?"

Compassion is a virtue & the humility to show it is a revealed strength rather than a sign of weakness.
---joseph on 6/17/07

Oh dear--I am shamefully illiterate here, but I think it's "Jesus wept" but not sure where exactly, but when Lazarus died and Jesus saw his sisters in so much pain. It teaches me He loves us and really DOES "feel our pain"!

Jesus Wept. John 11:35. I believe the reason why Jesus cried/wept was because he came there to raise Lazuras from the dead and no one believed him. In verses 32-33, it says Mary and the Jews were weaping and it troubled Jesus' spirit. In vs 37 they ask how can this man heal the blind but let Lazuras die, again Jesus spirit groaned. This means oh ye of little faith. If Jesus can heal the sick, raise the dead, why do we think he can't fix our problems? We have a big God, so we should think big.

In the Gospels, before Jesus resurrected Lazerous from the dead, it says "Jesus Wept".

Jesus wept. John 11:35.

Among other things, it teaches us that in His human nature, Jesus shared all non-culpable human passions, such as love for a friend and grief over his physical death.
