If someone made a movie about the entire bible, it would be rated "R". Especially in the Old Testament, there was war upon war, killings, murders. Everything we see today...still. But a person would more likely see a movie with a well known actor, over a movie about Christ. Because anymore it is all about pleasing the flesh instead of pleasing our spirit.
---Rebecca_D on 6/26/07

Anyone ever consider that if the Bible was made into a movie, accurately portraying major events on the old testaments, it would be rated R???
---MikeM on 6/25/07

Mary thank you. If it wasn't for vets, we would not have the freedom to have this Christiannet right now. Vets are awesome! Besides being born again, the next best thing in my life was becoming a Marine. It gave me discipline and confidence that I never knew I had.

Paul said this: Corinthians 3:16,17 "Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are"

I believe that everything you see and the music that you listen to speaks to the soul. In the same way that bad company corrupts good character, so do the movies and music you chose. Frankly, I do not watch television nor do I listen to secular music. When I do go to the movies, it is with my 9yr old and it is a childs movie. Even they are offensive at times. It actually hurts my heart to see or hear certain things. I am blessed to live in the country.

WWJD:Philippians 4:8-9 - Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you

---Steveng on 6/24/07

If we want to have a pure mind, then we have to guard it with all diligence. If we partake of things that are evil, then they will gain a place in our mind, reminding us often, of their presence, and leading us into situations that we ought not be in. The eye gates are the window to the soul, the ear gates are also, ask yourself, if you would be willing to invite Jesus in to watch it with you, if not, then don't watch it !!!

Robyn: "True believers refrain from these type movies." How do you define a "true" Christian? There are Christians who went to see the Left Behind movies chock full of false doctrine - and believed what the movie was showing. These were "true" Christians, though weak, who sways to believe the next sounds-good doctrine that comes along. This is why Christians must be strong in the Word of God only, to develop a strong relationship with God himself.

I let the scriptures be my guide and I use common sense. If a movie has nudity, violence, cursing. I will not look at it. This does not glorify God. On the other hand we must also remember: there is a thin line between righteousness and self-righteousness. We have to guard gainst being overly stiff and unbending. Learn to relax and enjoy Jesus. If I watch a R- rated movie every once in a while. I am not going to Hell.
---Robyn on 6/22/07

Get behind me Satan. Sorry I had to post twice but the devil did not want me to say this.

Learn to make good choices for Christ. We should not even allow ourselves to look at R-rated movies that include nudity, cursing and so on, and If we are truly saved, we should not find anything good in these type movies. If we do look at one. I don't feel we will go to Hell. We learn to make better choices as we mature in Christ. Let go and learn to enjoy God. Christians do have good, clean fun.
---Robyn on 6/22/07

Steveng: If these people you have described are guilty of making these type movies, games and so forth. You should know the answer to your own question. We(christians) are known by the fruit we bear. These type people are trying to pass as Christians. True believers refrain from these type movies. Especially where nudity, cursing and too much violence is present. But we do have to remember: we would almost, have to become Monks ,in order to escape all violence, nudity and evil.

One thing that bugs me is the commercials for gory or sleazy shows and movies while I'm watching a perfectly acceptable TV show.
Not to mention that the 'pop ups' on TV are worse and appear more often than on the computer!
---NVBarbara on 6/21/07

Steveng, Wow. Your art is extra creepy, how do you justify that?
---Carly on 6/21/07

If Christians are suppose to seek that which is good, why do Christians produce horror movies, write horror books and develop violent video games? And why are Christians attracted to such material? It's in our innate nature to be attracted to such filth. Such movies bring violence to our minds, nightmares to to our dreams. Do these movies bring peace to your minds? Do they truly gorify God?

Some of you in your hearts will say that the Bible is full of killings, rape, incest, wars, disease, etc. So what's the harm in watching it? The old testament is history. A history of man and his relationship with God. God rewards them who are good and punishes them when they are bad.

Besides, how do you react to a violent scene in a movie? With fear. Is that Godly? God wants us to stay away from such nonsense and create a heart having only good, a heart of peace.
---Steveng on 6/21/07

The bad thing is even disney and kid movies now have language in them so the TV guardian is very good for movies like Robin Williams RV movie and other movies that are designed for children. Of course a better solution would be for Christians that do watch movies to band together and petition the movies companies to provide the same movies with the language deleted already.
---Jerry on 6/21/07

If you are interested in watching movies that do have language in them the best thing that I have found is a TV guardian, it will filter out the language of all movies that have closed caption except for universal studios. I enjoy war movies as well as action and scary movies thus the TV guardian has let us watch them with no language at all.
---Jerry on 6/21/07

The truth is it's all about making money now. Movies used to be a form of art. They just make what they feel is going to sell the most now. It's an insult to my intelligence and many others and many don't allow themselves to be fooled and find that some of the best movies are the ones that made the least money. Originality is a turn off for many and they keep watching movies they would realize they already saw if they just replaced the motorcycles with cars or they replaced the vampire with a werewolf.

Its a curiosity to me that its very often the family oriented movies that gross more at the box office, conversely the industry keeps churning out the trashy movies.(?)
I have movie channels, but I ofen watch movies on commercial stations that have cut out words that make me cringe. I've never seen how using filthy words makes any movie better!
---NVBarbara on 6/21/07

I watch movies. If the movie I rented has alot of cussing the first 5 minutes, I turn it off. Or if it has alot of nudity. I used to rent movies all the time, but now I watch tv shows. It has very little cussing, no nudity, (depends what your watching), and if I don't like the show, change channels. At least I wouldn't be out money. I waiting for the new Harry Potter movie to come out so I can see it.
---Rebecca_D on 6/21/07

Probably 1 in 5 movies I watch is R. I do wish the "industry" could provide alternate language like they do other languages for those of us who enjoy action but don't need the 4 letter explicatives. I find it amazing how many parents either let their kids watch or watch simpsons or shreck or many other shows that promote rude in-your-face gross disrespect of others. Yet this is g rated.

Hi again; also wanted to add that I agree with you, Betty, that war can sometimes bring out the best in people; saw on the news tonight how our soldiers rescued abandoned, abused Iraqi children recently; God bless these men and women! :)

Ps 51:10; Prov 4:23) as christians we need to be careful what we expose ourselves to watch or listen to remmeber the enemy is using many kind of device so be not decieved (Rom 10:17) faith cometh by hearing not once but note hearing several times. so beware you might end up getting the kind of faith being offered by the R rated movies. and anything that is not Good is not God
---flore5374 on 6/20/07

I was exhausted watching the passion of The Christ and thought that it would have still carried the same message despite the extensive use of violence. It is not something that comes to mind unless you watch the movie, and I didn't like it in parts although it bought home the suffering Christ went through for each and every one for us.

**His daughter commented she liked to see R rated movies because of the realism.**

Audrey Meadows, wife of Steve Allen, once opined, "But it's not supposed to be absolutely realistic. That's why it's called 'art'."

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST--what ever you might think about Mel Gibson personally--was an inspired movie. And it was rated R.
---Jack on 6/19/07

One time I was in the states in a car with a friend and his teenage daughter. The talk was on watching movies. His daughter commented she liked to see R rated movies because of the realism. Told her I read the newspaper if I want to know about realism. While I attend movies, have only seen 1 R rated one and the language was very bad. (Even worse than what I experienced in the Navy.) See no value in watching an R rated movie.

I watch stuff, at home. But I do better when God is blessing me to have personal caring and sharing things to do. I need to get more real and resourceful in love.

G movies can have very anti-God stuff . . . like witchcraft, and romances in which actors are getting all crazy just about each other, instead of humbling themselves and each other in preparation for emotional stable marriage "without complaining and disputing" (in Philippians 2:14).
---Bill_bila5659 on 6/19/07

There are about 3 words that can bump a movie from PG to R.
Carla, not ALL R rated movies have vile sexual content or all blood and guts.

Did you watch "The Passion of the Christ?" That was R rated, as was "Schindler's list." I have also seen "Something the Lord made" which I think may have had an R rating.

The only time I watch R rated movies is if they are military. I'm a former Marine and love military movies. War is not pretty but at times it can bring out the best in people.
---betty8468 on 6/19/07

I did take the new survey. I do not generally watch Rated R movies, but have on occasion depending what the movie is about. For instance, Schindler's List is one I have seen. What we watch is a matter of personal conviction between us and God and we should not judge on the basis of such things.
---maryj9396 on 6/19/07

Alan: In the US, movies are rated based on their suitability for different audiences. G-General means that anyone can view it, even little kids. PG-Parental Guidance is suggested when viewing the movie. PG-13 means that Parental Guidance is suggested for people under the age of 13. R-Restricted means that people under the age of 17 must be accompanied by parents or guardians. These will have either sexual content, nudity, foul language, or violence, or all of the above.
---Madison1101 on 6/19/07

What sexual perversion! Any Christ like Christian watches films rated on entertainment that can be accessed by children not abusers of themselves and mankind.

I like movies that can entertain me without a bunch of violence, nudity and swearing, ones with talented actors and a good story. I dont really pay attention to the rating for me (for kids, yes) if I like it, fine, if not then I dont watch.

What is an R rated film?
---alan_of_UK on 6/19/07

Movies? Who has time to watch movies? Jesus is coming soon! There is no time for movies!
---Susie on 6/19/07

Never. When you let something like that into your spirit, it grieves the Holy Spirit and quenches Him too. Jesus said, Take heed to what you listen to." We need to make choices NOT to look upon worldly stuff such as R rated movies. BE YE HOLY FOR I AM HOLY SAYS THE LORD. Would Jesus watch an R rated movie? NO, He is the Holy One of Israel.

I never look at how a movie is rated, but I rate myself by the content and if it doesn't fit me as a Christian I don't watch it. The Bible says happy is the man who condemneth not in that thing which he allows. I think our hearts will condemn us when we do something we shouldn't.
