How Should We Pray

I have been told that busy people can pray anywhere - while driving, in the shower etc. I have prayed in this multi-tasking way, but the best prayer experiences I have are when I take time to physically kneel in prayer. What are your feelings on positions/times/places for prayer?

I have an idea, lets stop doing or saying what we think and do it like Christ himself said to...Matt.6:6-9, how not to pray matt.6:5 Heres the point Rom.8:26 please be carefull Jam 4:1-6. True prayer is bowing to GODS will inspite of our will, ours is hell bent toward sin, the world calls it freewill, the Bible calls it selfwill, Jesus said to deny self, or you cant be my disciples, Luk 9:23

Hope this helps

I pray in a letter form to God. I have a book and I write my prayer to him like a letter. I talk to him like I would my father after all he is our heavenly father after all.

My or anyone else's feelings here doesn't matter. That's the truth. It's your relationship with God that does. I"ve come to God when I was exaspirated, happy, sad, desperate, everything. I only have one way of doing it: Honestly as possible with myself when I do. GOd knows me inside out. It's only right to be truthful when I do. Our Father works in a pinch when you can't think of things to say.

all of the above . . . all in God's love

so we are sweetly and sensitively sharing with Him . . . and then see what He has us doing . . . a lot of our busy busy busy is NOT what God is leading us to to

so we need to FIRST stop while He gets us with Him . . . then go with His flow . . . how He leads prayer and then other things > "and you will find rest for your souls." (in Matthew 11:29)

Prayer is the thermometer of Grace. Only that prayer which comes from our heart can get to God's Heart.

The Bible says to pray without ceasing. Sounds like you have been doing just that. That's just great. I have seen great results after praying in my mind in an elevator.ha. I am with you though, It is special when you can take special time to spend before the Lord. These are times when I can feel closer.I also am able to hear Him better. I also enjoy praising Him at those times even though I also do that on the go as well.

yes you can pray anywhere anytime is my opinion

Yes, getting on your knees is excellent, but also remember that Paul said to pray without ceasing, so you shold pray anywhere you are. God is always everywhere.

Great replies! Thanks! Have you ever been awakened in the middle of the night - thinking of someone to pray for? That's cool too. I used to get upset when my sleep was interrupted, but then I realized it could be God's gentle nudge to wake up and pray - so I obey!

You can pray anywhere. but if you really want to get a hold of God, get in your prayer closet, kneel down on your knees and talk to God in private. Doing simple prayers won't do all the time. Each person needs to take time out of their busy lives to conversate with God.

I have never thought of prayer as multi-tasking. Prayer is not something that we slip in like the laundry, brushing teeth or buying groceries. Enter His courts with thanksgiving and praise. Do that and it doesn't matter where you are or what you're doing, if the attitude of prayer is in your heart, God can speak to you anywhere.
God speaks to me in the grocery store. My head will be turned towards a woman who's husband is snapping at her.

You can see that her spirit is crushed with tears in her eyes. I'll pray for her right there, under my breath. I'll come home and pray for her in the night.
I'll see someone cross the street without a dime to their name, a homeless person. I pray outloud in my car. To answer your other question, melissa... When you start listening to God, maybe you'll hear someone's name very faintly; don't question it, pray for that person.

You know the enemy wouldn't place someone on your heart. The faster you respond, the louder you'll hear the names and situations to pray for. Obey God, pray for others. Soon you'll be filling up your prayer book with names, situations, countries to pray for. God is eternal, He never sleeps. Be a willing and available vessel, you'll know when it's God and when it's not.

I too felt the way to pray was on my knees but I had reached a point I couldn't stay in that position. Sometimes it really bothered me that I didn't get down to pray. I was praying about it and God answered me and said "I don't want your bended knee,I want your bended heart". After that I've been blessed I can pray in any way and enjoy fellowship with God. Jesus nailed the ordinances with its rituals to the cross. Bible says, Pray without ceasing, that can't always be on our knees.
