Spiritual House Cleaning
How many Christians have asked God what item(s) they have in their home that is offensive to Jesus, letting HIM decide and then had the courage to throw it out...no matter how much it cost or what the item(s) meant to you, even if the item was a gift from a loved one?

I threw the BOM and other mormon writings in the trash.

I admire your courage Helen. And I'm thankful for you standing for the Scriptures.

Obedience is better than sacrifice. Yes, I have had a lot of items thrown away and yes even from loved ones. It's Jesus home and must be pleasing to him. Most the time I don,t understand ( which I don,t have to) but to trust and obey Jesus.

At our house, we make that choice before we bring things into our home. If it would be offensive to Jesus, we don't bring it into our home. This includes popular books and television programs that romanticize witchcraft.

I may even better to take inventory of our spiritual trash first - our selfish and nasty attitudes and habits - and get rid of those things.

Holly, if you really want to get to the heart of the matter, ask Jesus what thoughts, ideas, imaginations, or just plain old wrong thinking in His house, which you are, is not reflecting His nature and life. That goes much deeper than just cleaning a physical house of items that aren't gods anyway.

A person should be more concern with their spiritual house rather than their earthly house. Having a clean earthly house won't get you to heaven. But having a clean and spotless spiritual house will.

As soon as I got saved, I sold all my CD's and Videos. My mother took a fit because she had bought me some of the CD sets. I couldn't have cared less what she thought. I had no desire for it any longer and knew it no longer had part in my life. I bought lots of Christian CDs and Videos with the money I got. That made her even madder. I wasn't out to please her, but the Lord Jesus. I was a new creation in Christ, and old things really had died! (2Corinthians 5:17).
