The person at the well readily recognized "Messiah" and desired something extra special "living water" (the disciples still only called Him "Rabbi"). The "woman" didn't simply FAITH Messiah, she LOVED Him (and found what we should all have, John 7:38 that flowed from Christ's side at the cross) so that we will "neither thirst" (Revelation 7:16).
God is love, not mere faith ("the GREATEST of these", 1 Corinthians 13:13). |

If you think you can be perfect, you are incorrect. Only God is perfect and without sin. Every time you judge another, every time you disrespect someone, every time you view yourself as 'righteous' and above your fellow man, you are sinning. It is a dangerous thing to believe yourself to be without sin. |

And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous"

SeventhSeal: I too do not make excuses just so I can sin. I'm just saying what God's word says. And his word says that this flesh, our carnal minds are an enmity against God. A Christian has a spiritual mind and a carnal mind. It is a battle between the inner man and the outer man. Just because I am born again, that doesn't give me a license to sin. The sins of my flesh doesn't come from the heart, but from the flesh. |

Rebeca: Whatcha smoking? Did not claim to be Holy. Did not claim to be without sin. Yet I do not willfully hold onto and seek excuse to keep sinning in violation of Gods Commandments. I fight the good fight seeking help in time of need, coming boldly to the throne of grace when I stumble. I do not excuse and give license to continue sinning. Christ said "Go, sin no more lest something worse happen to you" The unrepentant and unthankful make excuse for sin and continue on as willing addicts. |
|
---SeventhSeal on 4/4/08 |
SeventhSeal: Oh, I see. So when God made you, your flesh became holy? As most claim the same with Mary. That's nice to know. Our flesh (your's too) is going to sin, that is what the flesh does. It is the inner man that doesn't sin in a Christian. I refuse his commandments hua? Grant it is hard to love some of my neighbors (enemies) but I do, and I do love God will all my heart and soul. So what em I refusing? And how is it that you claim your flesh doesn't sin, when the bible proves you wrong? |

Yenquee: No one is perfect! Jesus was perfect and it is our mission to be Christ-like. the more in love you fall with Jesus, the easier it will be to avoid temptation. But we are human and imperfect. God knows your heart and if you are truly building a relationship with Christ you will find it much easier to have the strength. There will be slip ups, but all you can do is strive to make the right choices. |

Rebecca: Your flesh will continue to Sin until you die because you refuse His Commandments and thus reject the empowerement of the Holy Spirit. Some addicts simply make excuse to keep using.

If you could not stop sinning then it appears that Jesus must have lied. But then, I know He didn't so it must be possible to become rightious by searching for the truth because it is the truth that sets one free from the slave of sin. (see John 8) |
|
---Dr.Rich on 4/2/08 |
Our flesh will sin until we die and go to be with the Lord. We don't mean to sin, but there isn't a person alive today that their flesh doesn't sin and there isn't one that is perfect. We may not sin on purpose but yet we still sin. Satan too knows our weakness and he will use that against us. If one realizes that they have sinned against God, they need to repent then not later. If one doesn't repent of the sin that they knew they committed it is unrepented/unconfessed and that will be held against them. |

---Rebecca_D on 4/2/08 |
Babies sit before crawling, crawl before walking, walk before running Sin addicts must commit to stop, then exercise willpower, then reaching own limits they MUST seek power from God,by Jesus, Who gives the Spirit freely to overcome. Occassional stumbles by the Temptor are not sins in active purposeful sense. Christ knows hearts and weaknesses and covers occassional stumbles when we go to the Throne of Grace seeking forgiveness and power to Overcome. Soon we see Temptation and seek HS before sinning |

Susie, That was clearly spoken! Nothing whimpy about it, rather as Paul says: I Corinthians 9:26: "I therefore so run, not as uncertainly, so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." |

When you get to the point where you REALLY want to turn your life to the Lord and serve HIM, you will then stop sinning. It is a choice that you make everyday. You know what sin is. You stop doing it. Since I told the Lord I was HIS 100%, he has used me for HIS ministry and daily I make the choice not to do the things I used to do. |

"How to stop sinning? If it could be done, then Jesus suffered and became sin for nothing."
That isn't what the apostles believed--they preached the Good News: that Jesus Christ not only died for our sins so we can be free, but also that He saved us FROM sin. We are no longer to be slaves to sin. He condemned sin in the flesh--we don't have to sin, we chose to. |

The first commandment if followed, is the way to stop sinnnig, With ALL your heart, mind, body and soul. To the guy who said "candy" is waved in front of our faces here on earth...we are ONLY attracted to those sins that we habor desire for in our hearts. So,as we purify our hearts(thoughts, thus desires) we won't be tempted by "candy"..we won't even notice it. |

People don't have a clue on here. if you think, it is easy to become perfect at things one step at a time. you don't kill anyone in your life, you are perfect. You don't steal anything. perfect. you don't lie, perfect. everyone always looks at the negative instead of the positive. you attend church every week for life. you are perfect in attendance. you read the bible every day and pray often, you build strength of character and can avoid sins that will destroy you. it is not hard if you try. |
|
---Lori on 8/14/07 |
Stop fooling yourself thinking that you can arrive at being perfect. God will help us in many ways but perfection will only come through Christ at His appointed time. Also, we are made right in gods sight only because of Christ's perfection, and sacrifice. |

Believing in Jesus is fine beloved but have you been Born again? The devil believes and all of his minions but they wan't and can't live for Jesus. There in is the difference between the believing and unbelieving. The saved and the unsaved. This is salvation. You will never be sin-free in this world. You need to understand that. Jesus has taken your sins and they have been nailed to the Cross. So that basically makes you perfect and sin-free, according to God's standards. Ok. Not ours. |

--Jackie_Starr I would like to make a suggestion to you. Please make a study of what Christians call deliverance. And there is that there is such a thing as self deliverance. If you're really in Christ Jesus, you're under God's Grace. Read Romans 7:1-> end, then Romans 8:1->. You have to really understand God's Grace, as nobody'll ever be perfect on this earth no matter what you do or don't do! Salvation is a Gift from God through Messiah/Christ Jesus, paid in full by Him. Move past your feelings & believe Echad/God's Word(s)!
Bottom Line? 1John 3:20->. |

If we CONFESS our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to CLEANSE us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have sinned not, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1John 1: 9-10. |

Thank you.
John was "in the Spirit on the Lord's Day"(Revelation 1:10), and yet he says, "I fell down to worship" an ANGEL (19:10) > so close to God, and right during a vision from Heaven, and John the beloved disciple sinned. So, I'd say we ALL will always need to do better. He confessed this to us. "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." (James 5:16) |

A believer must be born again and that which is Born of Spirit is spirit, and if the same spirit that was in Christ dwells in you it will give life to your dead body. We must dwell in Gods Spirit, Paul called it walking in the Spirit, because walking is action and faith with out action is dead, As we seek the kingdom as Jesus called it and take it by action the kingdom which is Spirit grows in us and as it Grows we mature to the fulness of the stature of Christ. |

---Exzucuh on 7/27/07 |
There is a difference in walking to God and walking away from God, having a heart for God and a heart for the world, If your priorities are right you are under the blood and sin is not accounted to you but if you are using Gods Grace as a tool of comfort to cover your sin, and not seeking his help to overcome you are in trouble. WE have to grow in the Spirit and it is important to not be stunted by our excuses and tendency to sleep while Jesus prays. |
|
---exzucuh on 7/27/07 |
Jesus was a sinner according to the religious crowd of his day, but their Idea of sin and his was on two different levels. What was sin to them, was not to him because he knew the truth about the word they were living by and how it was applied to him because he was in the Spirit and the Spirit led him and he obeyed. A man who is of the Spirit no man can Judge him, he hears the Spirit.A man of the Spirit does the will of the Spirit and the Spirit bears witness with his spirit that he is the son of God. |
|
---Exzucuh on 7/27/07 |
If you say you still have your sinful nature you contradict the word that says when we are born again the old nature dies and the new comes forth, that we are translated or we are metamorphosed into a new creature, Jesus said you have what you believe, If I still had my same nature I would not be here today, maybe prison or dead or a terrorist but not a minister, It is through my conversion that I have witnessed the power of God. |

As Christians we still have that sinful nature that we were born with....so we still sin. But, because we've been "adopted" into a new family of believers, we ask God's forgiveness and He immediately forgives...and those sins are no more. We must pray without ceasing...asking God to change us to become Christ-like. If our heart is willing God will always help us as we strive to be like Jesus. When we stumble...He will pick us up in His loving arms. One day Satan and SIN will be no more! |

You cannot be perfect in the sense you know it. You cannot and will not be able to stop sinning completely in this world. You must continue to trust in Jesus, regardless, of what sins you may commit. Quickly confess and ask God's forgiveness for all sins committed. Sincerely be sorry and you can be delivered from most sins but not all. To overcome temptations. Please read Eph 6:11-18. Also 1 John 5:4,Luke 22:40 for starters. These scriptures will give you an understanding of how to overcome temptations. |

Someone said: "Humans will always miss the mark and never be perfect until Heaven."
The Word says: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."(Matt.5:48) , "go and sin no more" (John 8:11b) & "...Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh" (Gal.5:16). By walking in the spirit,a born-again child of God depends on Him/His power, is able to resist temptation. |

Hi, Yenquee . . . interesting name, which country are you in? Welcome! I'm Bill.
I have had sin problems that have stayed for years . . . MUCH too long. But growing in love has helped me a lot. God's love has no sin, plus this love has me busy and fulfilled in doing caring things with others, so I don't get into lust and unforgiving things...in my MIND > IN us is where we need to stop sinning so our bodies stop. |
|
---Bill_bila5659 on 7/27/07 |
Sinning is not just wrong things we say and do. We need to be concerned about what is sin IN us > sinning includes worry, unforgiveness, not being "thankful" (Colossians 3:15), not rejoicing in the Lord "always" (Philippians 4:4).
As I overcome the sin problems IN me, I get more into God's love which makes it easier for me to stop the outward activities of sin.
For example, as I care more in love for women, it becomes more NATURAL not to lust. |
|
---Bill_bila5659 on 7/27/07 |
To clarify my earlier statement, there will be times that you will sin and need to ask for forgiveness. If man could become sinless, Jesus would not have had to die on the cross. |
|

His strength is made perfect in our weakness. I too desire to be perfect and the Bible teaches to "be ye perfect". I would love to say that I am but I am not and have never met anyone who is. " Everyone will sin while living in this flesh. There are times that I sinned and didn't realize it."
The reason the second part is true is because you believe the first part. If I know this, that the old man is dead and reckon it to be so, I can yield my members as servants of righteousness. Members yielded as servants of righteousness do not sin. This is more of an outworking of the perfectly saved spirit than it is making a choice to do or not do. The focus is different. |
|
---Linda on 7/26/07 |
We are not only human. We are a new creation in Christ. If we were human and are now a new creature, then we cannot still be only human. Also, God is not interested in our striving. He is interested in whether we believe that the sacrifice of His Son was enough to free us from sin and His life enough to reproduce in the earthen vessels we are. One can be freed from sin and not know it. The one who doesn't know it will not walk through the open door. |
|
---Linda on 7/26/07 |
You have to make a quality decesion to stop sinning. Then, you have to emerse yourself in the Word of God. Third, you have to change your friends and the places you go. Start hanging out with christian people and going to church events. Finally, pray nonceasing for help with the things that are leading you to sin. Joy9988 |

Elder, actually 1 John 1:10 says, "If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. Notice, this is past tense. We are empowered by the Holy Spirit to turn from sinning. |

---Robin on 7/26/07 |
Everyone will sin while living in this flesh. Until God gives us our new glorified body. There are times that I sinned and didn't realize it. But that is why we need to ask God to search our heart to see if anything be hidden so God can bring it to our mind and we can repent of that sin or those sins. We must strive to be more like Jesus. By putting more of the word in us, the less we will sin. |
|
---Rebecca_D on 7/25/07 |
Humans will always miss the mark and never be perfect until Heaven. God is only concerned if you strive to hit the mark and not sin. If you mess up, confess and repent (turn away from) your sin, and God is just to forgive. God wants us to put in the work of striving for the mark. |
|
---Leslie on 7/25/07 |

No. I Know this for a fact, all sin and fall short of the Glory of God. Only Christ was able to live a sinless. Life if it was possible for us to live a sinless life we woundn't need a Christ. |

If we could stop sinning God would have never wrote I John 1:9. Those who say they no longer sin lie, I John 1:10. Christians are Saved from the power and penally and later the presence of sin. Until then we rely on the Holy Spirit of God and repent of the sins of our flesh. The difference in sins and sin is the lost are responsible for the SIN of rejecting Christ. Christians are responsible for SINS of the flesh. Learn this and God's chastisement and it will clear up many issues. |
|
---Elder on 7/25/07 |
Romans 6 makes it clear that the death of Christ (how who we were in Adam died) and His resurrection (how who are are now in Christ is alive) is the only means of abiding in the vine from whence the fruit of the vine is produced. Know this, that the old man is crucified with Him, reckon yourselves dead indeed unto sin and alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord, and yield your members as instruments of righteousness. |
|
---Linda on 7/25/07 |
If you are still trying to keep laws, rules, and regulations, sin gains its strength through them (1 Cor.15:55,56). God's approval of you is in, by, and through Jesus Christ and not your "goodness". The same grace that saved you is the same grace that grows you up, otherwise you start thinking that somehow your own righteousness makes you acceptable to God. Pray Eph.1:17-23 and read Romans 6, asking the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of your understanding. |
