Frances, whilsy I have Scots ancestry, I have not been reared as one.
The Scots are staang characters, which explains theri extraordinary success in ceertain fields.
There are courteous Scots, and there are discourteous English.
I think British may be more courteous generally than those from some other cultures.
You are right though when you suggest that rthose who are courteous are often despised.

Alan of UK::NO my Friend we must attain that perfection, if we are to see HIS face.Being like is not being EQUAL we give thanks for permitting us this privelege Remember He Died for us why?to show us the way.it is thanks in love not arrogance.Satan had that idea and paid the price.

Alan of UK, you should live in Japan. Overcrowding leads to a lifestyle of natural Christianity in action. The other person's will is generally put first. This ends up hilarious because you end up with neither dominating, everyone sweating because nobody dares open the window and it is difficult to explain. Surely as a Scot you understand, the English they never like to be rude and push for what they want personally. The Scots tend to dislike this 'dishonesty' in the English.

Omniscience>>>State of being all knowing. I believe that we will know as much as God. But, also, heaven will be a place of learning. This is what I have picked up on in passing.

Linda, glad to see you back...there's been at least 1 other Linda here, but I knew it wasn't you by the style of writing and more importantly the Spirit.
---Christina on 3/28/08|
I think we will have perfect love and forgiveness. The sins we had on earth, because we can never be perfect, the sins which stop us from understanding things, will disappear. But I don't think we will want to know too much, but be happy to be with God.

if we are all omnicient, does that not mean we be clones?
Suppose someoen wants classical music, and another wants modern worship?
Whose will prevails?
---alan_of_UK on 3/28/08|
This is a very interesting question. And my answer is YES. And the reason I believe we will be omniscient in heaven it because I believe our minds will be joined with Jesus' mind thereby granting us all knowledge. This all knowledge will be the reason we will not be sad, we'll have no tears, in fact, we will have perfect understanding as Jesus had perfect understanding.

The bible says we'll be like Christ in heaven so I think that is covered also.I know the Lord will always be above us but we'll be pretty busy learning and doing. No lying on clouds playing harps.
---shirley on 3/28/08|
That's how we can know in foresight so that we don't have to know in hindsight. I don't know that we will know everything God knows but I am certain that we will know even as we also are known.

I agree with Linda, I remember this scripture.
---Marcia on 8/16/07|
Mima: Razor thin bud! :) John 16:23 has nothing to do with Christians becoming All-knowing in heaven.
Omniscience is a characteristic belonging to God alone. Man's fall into sin is rooted in that old forked-tongue lie of the devil. (G3:5)
---Leon on 8/16/07|
Marcia: No, because the Bible doesn't support that ideaology. God alone is Omniscient. As His faithful children we'll eternally be in awe of, experiencing & learning from our Lord. It's all about having "faith (trust) in God".
---Leon on 8/16/07|
You're leaning towards yes for Emergent and yes for omniscient?
You go ahead, I won't follow you.
---Ted on 8/16/07|
No. We will not be omniscient. Only GOD (YAHUVEH) and Jesus (YAHUSHUA) and The Holy Spirit (RUACH Ha KODESH) Who are All Three-in-One, therefore One, is Omniscient. But, the Saints will have greater intelligence and better learning capabilities and will be forever discovering more of GOD's Creation.
---Gordon on 8/16/07|
I am trully seeking help understanding this. No! I am not in an Emergent Church and so far you have only gave me opinion. I thankful for those of you who have backed up your response with scripture. So far I am leaning towards "yes".
---Marcia on 8/16/07|
Yes we will be omniscient in heaven. My reason for believing this is very very thin. But Jesus does say that in that day you will ask me nothing perhaps indicating that we will be all knowing?
---Mima on 8/15/07|
We are created beings and God is not.
Lucifer was a created being and he fell like lightning from heaven for such a prideful thought. He thought that he could also be like God.
Is this part of the Emergent Church teachings that you're following?
---Ted on 8/15/07|
I don't think so.
If we were, we would be God.
And then, there would be no need or even desire, to worship Him.

1 Cor. says that now we see through a glass darkly but then, face to face, now we know in part but then shall we know even as we also are known.
1 John says that we have an unction from the Holy One and we know all things. I don't believe this is carnal knowledge here but instead the knowledge of God being revealed to our spirits by His Spirit who then communicates it to our minds.
