I was almost 30 a blaspheming atheist who only used the name Jesus Christ as a curse word. Hated churches and all that Holy roller junk.
I had challenged God that if He were real I did want to know Him -that week-
caught the end of the 700 club and Kinchlow was saying if you can't believe tell God
I did

he said - "now say this prayer"

its been decades and I cry every time I tell it.

Andrea-you said that you have a hard time believing that paople can try to be good and holy, read the word, go to church and still be unsaved: Lets look at Acts 10. Cornelius was a devout God fearing man. BUT he was missing something. V.6 said that he needed to send for Peter, "he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do." Peter preached, the Holy Ghost fell, they were commanded to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Read Acts 10

Helen - I just have a hard time with the fact that people can read the word, go to church - try to be good and holy and still remain 'unsaved'. I'm just at a loss - I thought the power in the 'word' would be enough to convert hearts and this is not what I've found in the short time I've been on CN.
I live a very sheltered life.

Shelley, In Acts 10:44-48 the Holy Ghost fell on all them that heard the word and they began to speak in other tongues. In verse 47-48 Peter asked if any man can forbid water that these should not be baptized...then he COMMANDED them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. What's the name? Jesus! Now, you too need to get baptized in that name. Its for the forgiveness of your sins.

Dear Lord Jesus I wished to say thank you (I realize that thank you is very shallow) for saving ---Shelley's soul. And for not only her's only but for all who you have convicted and for all you have received!!

Andrea - Interesting observation. If a person never got saved, then they cannot say that they did can they.
---Helen_5378 on 9/6/07

after a month-
No members of any of the cults represented on CN answered this question. Strange - I mean other Christians didn't either - but none of the LDS, JW or SDA nor did the weird ones that follow us around and accuse us of lying or morphing hmmmmmmm

June 3, 1986 In a small ministry center. I was there to find out why it was a sin to be in a monogimous(SP?) gay relationship and at approximately 3:00pm I walked out with the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior.

I was six years old. We had gone to revival in country church. There I heard how Jesus died for my sins. I wanted to get saved, but my parents thought I did not understand, that I was too young. I cried all the way home, begging to go back to church to be saved. At home, my precious sister, 14 years old, told me I could be saved right there at home. She told me how to ask Jesus to forgive me, save me, and come into my heart. I've loved him ever since.

I got saved in 2005. I was twenty years old. My Mother had just gone on to be with the Lord and I was searching. I found myself in an Evangelist Exsplosion Class trying to learn how to witness my faith. It was in this class that I found out what it meant to be saved. I gave my heart to the Lord and my life hasn't been the same since.

Hi, I got saved in kind of a funny way: first off, developed a serious crush on this cute kid at school--and discovered he was a minister's son, so I started going to church and his dad really ministered to me. :) Am grateful, not only because God saved me, but WHEN He saved me, was less than a year before I lost my big brother. I never could have survived the pain without God. Today my brother would have been 50, but he's not here to wish him a happy birthday. Love your family while you have them.

21 years old. Minors in Old and new Testament and fresh out of college. Well versed in the Bible, still I was not saved. And I said a sinners prayer that night and received my salvation and along with my salvation the assurance of my salvation. And this assurance has turned me loose to give the message of salvation to many many other people! And I thank the Lord for using me.

Alan: That is neat that you accepted the Lord at a Billy Graham Crusade. I had the privilege of working at a crusade in Philadelphia, PA, USA, leading children to the Lord after the altar call. What an awesome experience.

I was upstairs at my mother in laws house,we were living with her at the time, and God had brought me to the end of myself, so that I could look up to him, I cried out, God, is this all their is in life for me, he heard my hearts cry, changed me that night, and I have never been the same since, that was June 1985.. and he gets better every day...

On november 1998, I met my Lord and Savior, Jesus christ. I used to hate God. I was on my way to Hell. At that time in my life, everything was going wrong and I knew something was missing. I went to a small Baptist Church just down the road. I heard about Jesus Christ that night, how I was a sinner and needed a Savior. I prayed the sinner's prayer, and recieved Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior that night. I have never been the same, Glory to God.

I was nine years old, in my bed before I went to sleep, shortly after a "Good News Bible Club" that had been held in our basement.

I was at church camp. The couselor had an survey, and one of the questions were... Are you a Christian? At the time, my family went to church every week, but I did not know what it meant to be a Christian. She showed me what it meant to have a personal relationship with Christ. She showed me verses on forgiveness, confessing your sins, accepting Christ, Believing and even baptism. Later she became my "Aunt" in law!!! My sister married her nepehew from camp.
