Why Are All Not Healed

On another thread Linda said "You have the authority, given you by God Himself, over every symptom and disease manifestation in your body. Use the authority He has given you." Do you all agree and, if this is so, why do our symptoms persist - why are we not all healed? Is it lack of faith?

Rita, to answer you regarding prayer, I don't see prayer only as asking for things. I see prayer more as communion and conversation with my Father. In that communion (common union in the spirit) there is intimacy and agreement. Isn't agreement and having all things common something we are all looking for? If God is Jehovah-Rapha, the God who healeth thee, then communion would be an agreement with that, a unity in the spirit where we are joined to the Lord and one spirit with Him.
---Linda on 9/14/07

No man can tell me God is not the Healer. My experience says otherwise. A man with an experience of God is never at the mercy of a man with an argument. Over and over and over, always faithful, always true, always consistent, He has daily loaded me with benefits. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits, who forgiveth all my iniquities and healeth all my diseases. What do I render unto Him for all His benefits toward me? I take the cup of salvation and call upon His name.
---Linda on 9/14/07

He is the Lord who healeth thee. He will bless thy bread and thy water, and I will take sickness from the midst of thee. He sent His Word and healed them and delivered them from all their destructions. I will restore health unto thee and heal thee of THY wounds (this is what you do to yourself). He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and by His stripes we are healed.
---Linda on 9/14/07

For He bore our sins in His own body upon the tree that we, being dead to sin, might live unto righteousness, with His stripes we were healed. When I passed by thee and saw thee in thine own blood I said, "Live". And again, when I passed by thee and saw thee in thy blood, I said, "Live". And He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil. They came to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases.
---Linda on 9/14/07

Regarding persistent symptoms: Be more persistent with what God says. Greater is He who is in you than he that is in the world. You will never reap the harvest of the seed of healing, health, and strength if you sow the seed of sickness, death, and decay. If you want the dog, don't call the cat. Life and death are in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
---Linda on 9/14/07

Ask yourself this question: why are we more faithful to take an antibiotic every day three times a day for 21 days than we are to take God's healing word three times a day in even one day? I will end with the words of Jesus:
According to your faith, be it unto you.
---Linda on 9/14/07

Denna, that was wonderful. I want to add that the word doesn't say that God gives us "a" measure of faith but "the" measure of faith. "A" measure would indicate a different measure for each individual. "The" measure is God's measure in Christ and it is given to every man. God's faith is in His Word and when we hear the Word, there is a response.
---Linda on 9/13/07

When we release God's Word, we release His faith contained in that Word. His Word, His faith...but the release of it through the subjects of His kingdom is to the acknowledging of the truth in Christ. We walk by that faith.
---Linda on 9/13/07

Rita, there should be more acknowledging of the truth in Christ coming out of our mouths than the symptoms. The truth be known, even when we experience no symptoms, we need healing all the time because we live in mortal bodies. Did you catch a cold when you started coughing or when the virus entered your body and your immune system failed to operate properly to eradicate it?
---Linda on 9/13/07

We should be believing all the time and acknowledging the truth that His stripes healed us even when we don't feel bad. We are not to walk with God by the five senses or by emotions. We are to be established on the foundation of Christ. We must stand there before we walk there. The laws of faith work just like the law of gravity works. However, to operate in the laws of faith, you must know the author of faith.
---Linda on 9/13/07

It would be hard to receive healing if you didn't know intimately that God is the healer and He has never changed His mind about that. Instead of deciding who God is by our carnal thoughts and situations, we need to discover who He is through an adventure in intimacy. It starts with knowing who He is. When you disocver who He is, you can know who you are in Him and live there.
---Linda on 9/13/07

God is always good. However, we oppose ourselves when we listen to the lies that come along with the symptoms in our bodies. The accuser slanders us before God, slanders God to us, slanders us to us, and slanders us to other and others to us. Be not ignorant of his devices. Once we are snared by the lies of the deceiver, we must recover ourselves through the acknowledging of the truth (2 Timothy 2:22-26)
---Linda on 9/13/07

I agree with Linda because of, Mark 16:18b....they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." If you can tell me why not everybody decides to believe in Jesus Christ as their personal savior that will go along way to answering why everybody does not get healed. Also we all have been given, Romans 12:3b ....a measure of faith., Im just not sure why so many do not use it.

RitaH: It's not for a lack of faith. It's for a lack of forgiveness.
---Leon on 8/27/07

Tony: Yes -- I agree 100+ percent! Unforgiveness (a bitter, resentful spirit) is "soul cancer" that destroys & can ultimately bring an untimely death to one's physical body.

It's no wonder why Jesus taught us to ask God the Father's forgiveness for our personal sins & for us to forgive others who have transgressed against us. This is key to our physical...well-being.

Bottomline - Ask God's forgiveness. Forgive everyone you think has wronged you!
---Leon on 8/27/07

The biggest hinderance to recieving a healing is unforgiveness. Some believe most sickness and disease is caused from unforgiveness. Don't forget to forgive yourself. Many times God is quick to forgive us but we cling to sin, or hatred or bitterness, and it keeps us from recieving God's blessings. After Jesus taught us the Lord's Prayer, the only part of the prayer He reiterated was to forgive others. Only then can the Father forgive you.

God heals. He does not always heal-IF he doesnt, it doesnt mean our faith was lacking, or we didnt ask properly. My husband had cancer, many people were praying. We truly believed he would be healed, I prayed and read scriptures over him in hospital 2 months, but he died anyway. Everyone must die, some time. There is nothing wrong with my Christian faith. God chose not to heal my huband, and I have to trust His purpose for that. I look forward to seeing my husband when I get to heaven.

Mima: "Jesus has paid for our healing & is not failing us now....receive our healing". What on earth are you talking about, physical and/or spiritual healing?

Yes, it is Jesus' intention ("will") that all mankind should be spiritually healed, i.e., born-again.
---Leon on 8/26/07

Linda I have read all your points and would be grateful if you would clarify something please. Taking up just a few points are you saying that (A) I should magnify Jesus Name more but say less about my own problems to others, (B) that I should be persistent in prayer and in asking for healing (C) that I should accept He has healed me before symptoms disappear and
---RitaH on 8/26/07

2. (going slightly off the general discussion) do you believe that prayer - especially of this nature - should be said out loud? I don't believe that we need to shout at God because He is not deaf but do you think that silent prayer perhaps shows a timidity that we should not display when we are His children?

When the leper told Jesus, "you can heal me if you will" Jesus's answer to him was" I will". Is Jesus a respecter of persons? If it was Jesus' will to heal the leper is it not his will to heal all mem.--- concerning the question of healing, Jesus has paid for our healing and is not failing us now. We on the other hand are in a great quandary as to how effectually to receive our healing.
---Mima on 8/26/07

Mima:

Just because Jesus happened to say "yes" to one leper on one occasion does NOT mean that he will automatically say "yes" to every request anyone ever gives to him.

One cannot develop dogma based on single events (any more than you can say "Eve had dark hair, so all Christian men must marry women with dark hair")
---Mark on 8/25/07

The focus here is on healing the flesh. As usual, the view of Bible truth is askew.

Scripture shows not all were "physically" healed. The Apostle Paul is the foremost Bible example of that.

Though Jesus healed physical infirmities, he didn't come primarily to do so but came so that whoever...could/can be spiritually healed (regenerated, born-again).

Bottomline: Physical healing is for some, not all. Spiritual healing is available to & for everyone. (Is. 53)
---Leon on 8/25/07

I believe the Holy Spirit has just told me to repent of my unbelief(no faith) as concerns healing. Therefore I do it now publicly. Lord I repent of my sin of unbelief, lack of faith and trust, in the gift of healing which you have given men. I asked for your forgiveness. And I willingly knowingly purposely change my thinking and will act accordingly. Amen and thank you for the privilege of praying.

In addressing the question, is it always God's will to heal? We should remember what God said to the leper after the Leopard said to Jesus," you can heal me if you will" then Jesus reached out and touched him and said," I will" that seems to settle the question for all time and for all people. Because we know God is not a respecter of persons.

We are to do all and then stand.

confessing Christ- confessing we know by His stripes we are healed (past tense) receivng it - not believing the lie the devil tells you and then stand.

Ultimately if you know where you stand in the Lord you are healed.

I've seen many healed - all had the victory!
---Andrea on 8/24/07

Yes. In you there is faith mixed with doubt at all times. It is your faith that will heal you. People must understand that Jesus came not only to heal you but make you whole. So if you ask and he answers you remember what you asked him for. Symptoms are in the mind so if you asked to be healed, he did it but you must also ask for him to make you whole meaning mind body and soul delivered from it all. Jesus told us you have not because you ask not. People dont truly know how to ask to be healed.
---Lillie on 8/24/07

God heals who He chooses to heal. Everything that God does is in His own way and own time. Not ours. It comes a time for all things to end. Death is an ending here on this Earth but a beginning in eternity. Ecclesiastes chap 3 explains this so well. Read it for yourself. The ultimate healing is: Death.

rosem4839:

If we still have symptoms even though we are healed, just what does "healed" really mean?

There are many stories about very sick people going to some famous healing televanglist, having hands laid on them, being told "God healed you!", then weeks later dying of that ailment. What use was their healing to them?

If your car won't start and you take it to a mechanic, and he says he fixed it but it STILL won't start, his repairs (and his word) are worthless.
---Mark on 8/23/07

I feel that this is a great topic,Many times we think we must have no symptoms, that "we are healed". In our mindset we work from the World! it is in II Corinthians 5:7 that "we walk by Faith, not by Sight".We must keep our Trust and Hope in God at All times and let him work His time, not ours.

Not everyone on earth is going to be healed at all times. In the bible, Jesus said he could only heal a few sick folk because of unbelief. Mk 6:5-6. Just because a person isn't healed right at that second, doesn't mean that God won't heal them. A person needs to speak things as though they already are. Ecc 3:14-15.
---Rebecca_D on 8/17/07

Mostly everyone called out to Jesus to be healed. Some, Jesus healed by a touch, by commanding a demon to come out, by forgiving their sin first. We need to pray and seek the Healer and He will provide His Healing power. Whether it be through someone who has the GIFT of healing or whether it be in the pool of Bethesda, or by mud being put on our eyes. Faith in God ALONE and NOTHING ELSE, not remedies or herbal stuff, etc., ONLY faith in GOD ALONE is HE our healer.
---Donna on 8/17/07

7) In regards to finding yourself talking more about the problem, the Word says:

O, magnify the Lord with me, and bless His name forever. Let they that love His salvation say continually, "The Lord be magnified". And then there is Phillipians 3 or 4 that tells us to "think on these things".
Talking begins with thinking. The more you think about something, the more you will talk about that something and the more it is magnified in your life.
---Linda on 8/17/07

8) Become so accustomed to meditating on and magnifying the person and work of Christ and you will find Him and His work getting bigger not only in your view but also in your life.

The first time I exercised my faith in this way (other than being born again), I was healed of the chickenpox in three days. If you would like to hear (or view) that testimony, let me know.

9) Just recently, after hearing that I had the faith of God in me and receiving that word, I knew I would be tested. When I got home, my daughter was sick. I laid hands on her and spoke, "By His stripes we were healed" and then commanded the symptoms (I named them) to leave in Jesus' name. I went back to check on her a little later and asked her if she felt better. She said she didn't.
---Linda on 8/17/07

10) At that very moment, I heard this little voice say, "See, you don't have enough faith. She isn't healed." I responded (out loud), "On the contrary, I have the faith of God and she is healed by the stripes of Jesus." I spoke the healing word over her again and commanded the symptoms to go in Jesus' name. I came back later and had to repeat that a third time. This time though, I called my daughter's name and said, "Autumn, by His stripes we were healed".
---Linda on 8/17/07

11) Then I commanded those symptoms once more to leave in Jesus' name and immediately Autumn rose up off the bed, took a bath, and went downstairs to eat. I had to do this two days later with my son. One hour after complaining about not feeling well (sick to stomach), he was in church. Rita, it takes persistence because the adversary will try to steal the word. I see people who have health insurance benefits get really persistent about what is covered (stamped "paid") under that plan.
---Linda on 8/17/07

12) In God's plan, He stamped our benefits "paid" by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our health benefits are underwritten by none other than Jesus Himself. You can't get any more secure than that. And it isn't "my" faith. It is HIS faith made available to me. That keeps me from boasting in myself. Every born again child of God has His faith. Some just excercise it more than others.

13) That doesn't change whether that person is saved or not but it does change how much of the provision you experience. I was experiencing shortness of breath one time and, after laying down on my bed for about five minutes, I got up and walked two + miles saying the whole way, "By His stripes I am healed." Symptomless I returned home where others would have never taken the first step for fear of dying. We walk by faith, not by sight.
---Linda on 8/17/07

1) Rita, I appreciate that you would even bother to come back with a question instead of an accusation. Believe me, that is not the norm. I do not ever tell someone to deny the physical facts. However, I do bring to remembrance the truth and have an expectation that the truth would come out of the abundance of the heart. The truth of "by His stripes we were healed" is true all the time whether we are experiencing symptoms or not because the truth never changes.
---Linda on 8/17/07

2)It is not a lie to speak that because it is the truth according to God. Let God be true and every man be found a liar. When I do not feel well, I take the laws of faith and put them into operation. Actually, I believe God to be well while I am feeling wonderful and stay established in faith. I agree with God that He has already given the benefit of healing within those "all things that pertain unto life and godliness".
---Linda on 8/17/07

3) I don't have to "get Him to heal me". He already has and that healing is available in the realm of the spirit. I tap into that all the time by faith. I wake up in the morning and say, "By His stripes we were healed" and "You are the God that healeth me" and "Thank You for Your benefits toward me". That is establishing yourself in faith so that you are not moved when circumstances come.
---Linda on 8/17/07

4)The more you exercise the spiritual muscle called faith, the greater it manifests in your life and toward others. Kind of like a body builder. He begins to work a muscle and, at first, others cannot see the benefits. However, after a while, the benefits are obvious to all as that muscle really begins to stand out.
---Linda on 8/17/07

5) I am also picky about who I have pray over or with me. Outside of the gifts of the Spirit manifesting, those I choose to pray with or over me are those who are likeminded and are established in the present truth of a finished work. They are people who have heard not only my conviction but also the many testimonies of healing in my life and are in one accord with me.
---Linda on 8/17/07

6) If I am desiring to experience the healing benefit in my life, I don't go to someone who doesn't believe God heals or who believes that He only heals some. I go to those who know "by His stripes WE were healed" and know that while they are praying for me, they are being healed at the same time as that "river of life" flows from the inward being to the outward body.
---Linda on 8/17/07

Some of the things I've been taught is:
a miracle is a sudden healing
a healing is an ongoing process

..and people can be healed and walk away - believe the devil and lose the healing bc they lost their faith
---many great people of faith go home to be with the Lord and or suffer in ways we cannot imagine ---they do not need to feel guilty or inferior bc God has a different path for them.

Linda I am really grateful for your taking such trouble by giving me all those answers but can I ask you further - am I doing the wrong thing by discussing my ongoing health problems with others? I find it really quite a problem because some will say that if you are ill and someone asks how you are you should give an honest answer, so that they know what to pray for.
---RitaH on 8/17/07

2. However others tell me that once we have asked God for healing and/or asked others to do so for us, we should accept that God WILL heal us and never mention the subject again. That would be fine if others didn't keep asking but I sometimes find myself discussing my problem more than perhaps I should. Also, if someone has gone forward in a healing meeting but is still not healed by the next one some will say "go again, because
---RitaH on 8/17/07

3. God says we are to be persistent in prayer" whilst others would see this as impatience on our part or a 'lack of faith' because we are asking again. I receive such mixed messages that I do not know which is correct. I accept that healing is not always instant and that sometimes God expects us to work with health professionals to get that healing.
---RitaH on 8/17/07

"If this were so, why would we ever die?"

Well, like Paul, it would be nice to say, "I have run the race, I have finished my course" and then lay down your life. That is not dying. That is "being finished" with what God put you here for.

By his stripes we are healed has been used to claim physical healing by many people, but it really is speaking of Spiritual healing not physical. Healed means to cure, make whole, free from errors and sin to bring about salvation -Strongs 2390. The whole verse is speaking about being saved from sin,why would it switch to physical sickness, evidence doesn't support that theory. We need to keep the whole verse in context of the rest of chapter.

When the women touched the hem of Jesus' clothing, she was healed. It was her faith that healed her. Most, and I'm talking about 99.99999%, Christian's faith today is very, very weak. They depend too much on science and technology and medical advances. If our faith was strong, we would see Christians performing greater miracles than Jesus. Two things to consider: One, the Parable of the Sower and, two, the Mustard Seed.

I participate in a cross-country cross denominational group called 'the healing rooms' we have a fair amount of teaching about the authority we have and the fact that by His stripes 'we are healed' - some are- many will not be healed till they go home to be with Him.

God's Grace was sufficient for Paul's thorn in the flesh. Very good point Darlene. I believe that we all at times have a thorn in our flesh. i do not believe that it is always a lack of faith. I have been on blood thinners due to bloodclots since I was 18 years old. I do not understand why, but if it was not for my faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I do not know where I would be today. One day, we will all understand our thorns in the flesh. When we go to Heaven and see Jesus.

I don't ever tell someone to "not claim it". I tell them to believe "by His stripes we were healed". That is true when we feel well and when we don't. As for Paul's thorn in the flesh, he had that because of an abundance of revelations and being caught up into the third heaven. Unless you have had an abundance of revelations and been caught up into the third heaven, you don't even qualify for the thorn in the flesh.

Good points, Darlene, and others too. :) A few years ago, some of us lost one of the godliest and most faith-filled men we've ever known, his death was brutal and pro-longed, and if anyone had the faith to overcome it, he did. Rita H,
We walk by faith and not by sight. By His stripes we WERE healed~spirit, soul, and body. None of us are lacking faith. We lack the understanding that we have the faith of God. People I know who manifest great faith are people who understood that "faith as a grain of mustard seed" is all that was needed to move any mountain because Jesus said so. What you need to understand is that faith has laws that govern it and God won't break His own laws.
---Linda on 8/16/07

If He has said, "By His stripes ye were healed" and you, in disagreement say, "I am not healed", you will have what YOU say because God doesn't force Himself. He is pleased with faith. You will never experience what God said by saying what He didn't say. Life AND death are in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. I put this law and principle into effect in my life and it has not failed one time over my body or the bodies of my children.

I have said it once already and I will say it again because there are people who insist that I am saying they have or do lack faith:

No believer lacks faith. We have all been given THE measure of faith. We is lacking is the understanding of the faith we have, the laws that govern it, and how to use it. If the truth be known, we invite a lot of things into our lives using our mouths. Jesus being confessed as Lord is evidence of receiving Him.

part#2-it would do us well to pray about what we're going to ask about before we ask. Everyone wants to know their prayers are heard and everyone wants an affirmative answer. We have been given benefits. A benefit is something that must be known about to be used, and it must be used to be effective. If I have health benefits, I can go to a doctor and show him my insurance card that verifies what I have. That verification makes the benefit operable and my insurance pays the bill. What verifies what you have been given by God is what you say.

The communication of your faith is made effectual by the acknowledging every good thing that is in you by Christ Jesus. We have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing (faith is one of those) and we have been given all things that pertain unto LIFE and Godliness. Healing pertains unto life.
