If one thinks they have not sinned through out the day, has committed at least their 2nd sin of the day.
---Nicole on 7/30/08

That depends if you are talking about the new man or the old man. In the old man, our flesh, we sin often, probably every day. There is no help for the flesh. But glory to God, in the New Creation, we never sin. I John 3:9. When we walk in the Spirit we won't fulfill the lusts of the flesh - Gal. 5:16. II Cor. 5:21 says that we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. It is in the New Man that this is true. Praise God, He forgave ALL of our past, present and future sins on the Cross, clearing us from ALL guilt and condemnation. Because God forgave All and reckons that our flesh was nailed to the Cross, it is as though our flesh is totally dead and buried.
---Debbie_Jo on 7/29/08

Are you kidding as rotten as we are! Better not lie on this one or else. better whatch your thoughts too.
---catherine on 7/29/08

Cynthia. If you read your bible and know the word of God. You know this is impossible to do. Sin will be with us until the day we die. This old fleshly body is very evil and sinful. You need to read the entire book of I John. In I John chapter 1 it talks about this. If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar. God cannot lie. We sin---daily.
---Robyn on 7/29/08

It is not possible. If it were, we would not need Jesus everyday.
---catherine on 9/8/07

Matt - then I'm glad you did not - maybe God 'allows' all the divirsity in belief systems so that we have what we need when we need it. After being on this planet 5 decades - looking at my history and the worlds, I see reason and balance in all the chaos. Just like God planned it this way for a billion people.

Its not good theology but it works for me.
Be blessed

Andrea, the more you post the more I see you speak truth. Let me tell you a story. I went on a cruise ship with a friend about three months ago. I didn't drink not one ounce of alcohol for I know that would be testing God's grace and is too risky(God may cut you off). Deep down in my heart I know that if I was a OSAS believer I would of gave in to the temptation.
---Matthew_from_LA on 9/7/07

I often explain to young Christians - God is not fickle - this is not like pulling petals - I'm saved - I'm not saved

I hear a lot lately " I used to be a Christian" do you believe 1)they never were
2) they are in btw now 3) they are and just don't realize it
I have to think God does not force Himself on you - if you knowingly refuse Him after having known Him ...
otherwise He is able to keep you even if you have a lapse in faith but not if you turn from Him

Posts like this is the reason I love christianet blogs. duane's post sent me back to school.
"If Christians sin every day and ask forgiveness every day, that means they are UNforgiven everyday. In and out of forgiveness everyday of our lives.
That is not what I call salvation or to be set free from sin. Thats bondage of the highest degree.
Doesnt anyone believe in the work of the Cross anymore?"
---duane on 9/6/07

.jody_martin, you are in control of your tongue, nobody makes you sin, sin is a concious choice that you choose to either do or not do, just as righteousness is also a conscious choice that you choose to either do or not do. You choose whether or not you will serve Christ or serve sin, and if you try to serve both you will be found spoiled of leaven and wholly be spotted with sin. You are given 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to do with as you choose, and the path you choose determines your destination.
---Eloy on 9/6/07

Sue, We can spend every minute separated from Christ, or we can spend every minute together with Christ and living in righteousness. The N.T. tells us Christians what we are suppose to be doing for him and each other. There are times when I am in the heights of glory and relishing the grace of God, that I never want to go back down into the fields: but I know the time is short, and we need to reach out to as many souls as possible before that great and terrible day of the Lord comes.

MAT FROM L.A & ELOY) So you are saying that we are in complete control of our tongues or at least you are and some others.Always selfless. At all times each day all that you do is in faith which is what sin is not. So your mind is constantly "stayed" upon the Lord.I am missing it.I want to believe what you are saying but I realize that I am not perfect so I ask for forgiveness as I do not always have perfect control of my tongue et al--what am I missing here?I want to get this.:)Am I to rigid?
---jody_martin on 9/6/07

Mat of LA)Can you discuss the struggle Paul has re:sin in Rm,7:13-23? He is talking about His lack of ccntrol over sin and thankfullness for Jesus Christ. Referrs to hiself as a "Wretched Man". Now I know that I am not as perfected as Paul so how could I go one day thinking that I did not sin? I would precieve myself as arrogant and assuming. I would rather error on the side of asking forgiveness than assume I am righteous. I know it says "be ye holy". I try but can't imagine it.:)
---jody_martin on 9/6/07

Eloy and others: thank you for the explanation.

no it is not possible, say you slowed down at a stop sgin just long enough to see that theirs no one coming.is that a sin? yes it is because the law says to make a complete stop.so even when we break physical laws we are sinning and peoples do every day m..love

I believe Jesus is able to keep us if we choose to repent and believe He is our salvation Just like the first day we came to Him - He is faithful to forgive, but if we choose to sin. BUT

Rev 2:4 Nevertheless I have [somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works, or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
---Andrea on 9/5/07

I sin every day. I try not to sin but it just happens. Everyone sins everyday and needs to examine theirselves and ask forgiveness. If it is willful sin,we also need to repent over again. Read 1Jn chapter 1 and you will see that each person sins.
---jody_martin on 9/5/07

I would say no, but the best answer I can give you is in 1 John 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. We live in a sinful and fallen world. There was only one without sin. Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
---denna7667 on 9/4/07

Excuse me please steven-rem7000 What are you talking about?
---catherine on 9/1/07
this blog is talking about sin.
sin in thought,word or deed.
I was saying I will brake the law in thought, word and deed
and that I always need to look to Christ
sorry if i confused you :-(

Jesus said - anger toward a brother is murder - He explained sin as much more then a physical or conscious act - it is an act of the heart.
We are made righteous by the blood of Christ and the work that makes us righteous is a continual ongoing act.

When Christ said it is finished - the grammar actually means 'finishing'.As in a once a forever verb

so is the word for righteous - it should be
righteousifying (an ongoing act - verb)

.sue, You must include verse 6 with verse 8 in I John 1:6, because it explains whom the "we" is in verse 8. The "we" is the one walking in sin and not the one walking in righteousness. The proper context is to keep I John 1:5-10 together and not read only 8 and 10, the enemy confuses and deceives by taking scripture out of context and misapplying it. That is why I say to read at least 5 verses priot and 5 verses after the verse that is being expounded.
---Eloy on 9/4/07

.sue, "If WE say that we have fellowship with him, and WALK IN DARKNESS, WE LIE, AND DO NOT THE TRUTH." I John 1:6 Notice the WE here are those that are NOT in Christ. Now the OTHER WE are those walking in Christ, as in the next verse: "But if WE WALK IN THE LIGHT, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST HIS SON CLEANSES US FROM ALL SIN."

.sue, you see a person is either born-again and serving Christ, or else they are not but they are in sin (in their uncrucified and unsurrendered flesh) and serving sin. When Jesus saves a person from sin they stay with Jesus, but some people leave Jesus and go back into sin and become 7 times worse then before they were saved.
---Eloy on 9/4/07

Sue,

1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
---Matthew_from_LA on 9/4/07

2)
When we read only the 8th verse we take the meaning out of context, Sue. John is trying to say that when you do sin if you say you have not sinned you make Him out to be a liar, or if you have no sin in need of forigveness when you have sinned. He is warning against denial when we have sinned, and not confessing that sin when we have sinned.
---Matthew_from_LA on 9/4/07

3)
Sue, when all your sins are forgiven you are technically sin free which just means all your sins are covered and are remembered no more. We must be sin free to get to heaven, meaning, all the sins we have commited must be forgiven and washed away by the blood.
---Matthew_from_LA on 9/4/07

4)
If we are in unrepented sin and commiting the same sin over and over again without repenting of it, that sin is still yet unforgiven and will prevent one from getting to heaven. This is what John meant when he said God's people can't sin and no longer sin. He just meant that they repent of all their sins and don't have sin as a lifestyle anymore. Read what happens to those who do live in an unrepentant lifestyle in (Galations 5:19-21).
---Matthew_from_LA on 9/4/07

5)
Those who say people sin everyday no matter what have a poor understanding of what sin is and isn't. For example anger is not a sin(Ephesians 4:26), but it can lead to sin. Also temptation is not a sin. If an evil thought pops in your head have you sinned? Sin isn't automatic it is a heart chosen decision. Too many people are in bondage because they believe they are sinning when they aren't. Any evil thought that pops in your head isn't necessarily a sin because there is such a thing as temptation.
---Matthew_from_LA on 9/4/07

We sin we are forgiven bc we have faith in Christ.
There is no one righteous, not even one,
Rom 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law, rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
:22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
:24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ.
---Andrea on 9/3/07

Sue,
Are u set free from sin or not?... Which one is it? Did Christ become sin for you?
If its no, then there is no good news to be had.
We are dead to sin, NOT alive to sin

OKAY, I'm confused (again). Is the Bible contridicting itself, because I read the verses that Eloy posts, and the one that Betty (i think) posts..and they are very differant? One says it is possible not to sin, the other says you are a lier if you claim not to sin. Which is it?

"I got up at six o'clock went soulwinning at seven o'clock commuted a terrible sin of omission before eight o'clock. ....and walked away, as I watch him go I realize I should have done more b/c he came up to me lost and he left me lost.--

".. pastor preached a sermons directly against me and kinda ran me out of the church. It was a penny coastal church, and ther pastor was a great speaker and had the gift of healing!! True story!!
After getting saved I became a Baptist. Then one day as I was praying I begin to speak in tongues after that people begin calling me a bapticostal. Because I was speaking in tongues the baptist begin to shun me. I went to the pentecostal church and they would not accept OSAS." Mima

"A good tree cannot bring forward bad fruit, neither a corrupt tree bring forward good fruit. Whoever stays in him sins not. He that commits sin is of the devil. Whoever is born of God does not commit sin, for his seed remains in him and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." Matthew 5:18+ I John 3:6,8,9.

If it were not possible to go without sinning, then why would the Bible require:

1Jo 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye SIN NOT.

Mat 5:48 BE ye therefore PERFECT, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Jud 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you FAULTLESS before the presence of his glory

Joh 8:11 go, and SIN NO MORE?

A cruel joke?

If I could go one day without sinning, it would be a miracle. Our flesh will sin daily. And we need to realize that it will and that we need to repent every single day. Before I get out of bed, I don't sin. But when I get up, that's a different story.
---Rebecca_D on 9/1/07

I used to think that if I could just stop drugs
alcohol
temper
cigarettes
cussing
when they were all gone I realized what sin really was - an action of the heart.

Psa 51:3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin [is] ever before me.
Psa 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done [this] evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, [and] be clear when thou judgest.

Of course not. We all sin all the time. Sometimes we do not know it. That is why I always pray for those sins that I know nothing about, "to be forgiven". However, we work with Jesus not to sin. But we fall short. As long as He sees us trying we will be okey.

correct..know one is perfect.
When we do though, I hope the Holy spirit will convict us and lead us away from sin...to know the difference.
To convict us so we repent....and in doing so we must try to avoid sin, even though it may be difficult. In other words we should not just give in to sin and give up trying not to sin.
We are called to repent and turn away from sin at all cost.
God Bless you.
Lord knows we fall short every day. Tell God you are sorry and ask Him to help you.

No and Yes.
1 John 3:9..Speaking about my regenerated spirit, I do not sin, nor can I even sin because I am born of God and perfect by being regenerated.
1 John 1:8 ..But speaking of my flesh, If I say I don't sin then the truth isn't in me.
Thus, it depends on which part of me I am referring to as to whether or not I am a sinner.
Paul, In Rom 7, speaking of his flesh, said he had a big problem sinning.
