When Are You A Man

When my son was 5 he said he wanted to go to heaven as a little boy. God revealed to me he would be raptured as a boy. At what age in the us are you considered a man and no longer a boy?

13, 18, 20, 30, 40...what are you looking for from man? God spoke and you are now wondering why it may or may not come true? we should be careful about what God says and if it is, in fact, God.

i pray that your son (however old), change from a child of this world (no matter what age) to a child of God when Jesus Christ returns for His children.

As Paul said, "When we put away childish things."
Some never do this.
---Elder on 11/15/10

It is man that err-God is perfect.
The enemy will take what is truth and twist it-however-
Again-I stand to find the agreement.
You will find the Vav as Waw or Waw as Vav in times passed.

Yet-God is God-He stands defined.
The enemy can not change that.

Perhap a man is one who can stay humbled before God and love his brethren.
Phil 2
---char on 11/15/10

I stand-to find an agreement.
//The Modern Hebrew name for this letter is vav, a word meaning peg or hook. In Modern Arabic language,it is also pronounced with a w. The thought is the original name of this letter would have been waw instead of vav.
The meaning of this letter is to add or secure-(stays the same).//--The beauty is-the definition STAYS the same.
Representing two essential connective powers:the joining of heaven and earth it implies the connection between spiritual and earthly matters-connecting force of God,divine "hook'-'secure'--binds together heaven and earth.
The oversize letter marks the 'center' of the entire Torah-'belly'-Lev 11:42---The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy-DON'T give him a place.Gen3:14

\\char, stands, there is no "V" in hebrew. And nonhebraic writers sin by changing holy scripture\\

Aside from the fact that in some European languages, W is pronounced as we would V, it's frequently negotiable how to transliterate from one writing system to another.

BTW--if you transliterate the second letter of the Greek alphabet as B, then you fall under your own condemnation of others, because that letter is pronounced V in Greek!

Matthew 23:24 [Ye] blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
---micha9344 on 11/12/10

\\WAW= W, \\

I did a Google search on the Hebrew alphabet.

The first three sites, including one called Judaism 101, said that the letter VAV (they gave no letter WAW), generally was transliterated by the English letter V, though sometimes by O or U.
---Cluny on 11/12/10

Here is the beauty- the letter definition still stands-God is God-we praise Him as His will-stills stands-no weapon formed against it will prosper.

As the pictograph indicates, this letter represents a peg or hook, which are used for securing something. The meaning of this letter is to add or secure-also used as a prefix to words to mean and in the sense of adding things together.

again-possible for another blog.
Blessing...

Eloy:

While the 6th letter of the Hebrew alphabet may have once been pronounced as we pronounce "W" now, the 21st letter of the Latin alphabet ("V") was also originally prounced that way too.

Languages change over time. This is not a sin, but dialect - it's how human speech is. The word meanings do not change, which is what is REALLY important. You can see the same thing happening in the Bible itself. Compare Hebrew names with the same in Greek - H at ends of words change to S, "yehoshua" becomes "iesous", etc. There are even differences from one book in the Old Testament to another. Making a big issue about the exact pronunciation of words is choking on gnats while swallowing camels.
---StrongAxe on 11/13/10

char, stands, there is no "V" in hebrew. And nonhebraic writers sin by changing holy scripture. It would be the same wrong if I would address you as "Ghar" rather than "Char".
---Eloy on 11/12/10

To answer your very odd and a bit sad question: when a boy begin acting like a man. Paying his own bills and working. If he begins to do this at 10..he can be classified as a man.
But I am more concerned about the revelation that you received from God. I would be shaken by that and concerned.
---Robyn on 11/11/10

Eloy-what I have given is the subjects debated by scholars-reason for the word "thought" within my sentence. I am not giving my opinion either way-just fyi as stated as an origin of cross information long before I was even born.
Please re-read my post in that context.
Also stated was 'vav'-to modern not ancient "W" However-the definiton states the same.

I do encourage the Ancient Hebrew and trust God as teacher on this subject eitherway.

This however-maybe for another blog-
blessings-
---char on 11/11/10

char, you err, for there is no such thing as a "vav", for there is no "V" in the hebrew. "W" means a "double U, UU", and not "V". "waw" has always been scripturally written "W", as even in our Lord's name as written in the holy scriptures, Yhwh. The latin language has wrongly substituted the "W" with the "V" in their rewrittings of scripture. Like this...latins vrongly substituted the "W" with the "V". "Modern" or "New" writings which man has written adulterate the "Original" and "Ancient" writings which God has written and man's modern writings are unholy and not followed by the holy.
---Eloy on 11/11/10

"vav"-"waw" ancient-modern Hebrew.
The original pictograph used in the Early Semitic script is a picture of a tent peg. The tent pegs were made of wood and may have been Y-shaped to prevent the rope from slipping off.

The Modern Hebrew name for this letter is vav, a word meaning peg or hook. In Modern Arabic language,it is also pronounced with a w. The thought is the original name of this letter would have been waw instead of vav.
The meaning of this letter is to add or secure-(stays the same).

Cluny, again you err. There is no "V" in the hebrew alphabet, but a "w":

\\The "Bar Miswah", means, "Son of Commandment", a jewish tradition that acknowledges adolescent boys at 13 have come of age and are responsible for the commandments\\

Aside from the fact that it's properly transliterated "Bar Mitzvah" (with no W or S), it's 13 years AND A DAY.

\\God revealed to me he would be raptured as a boy\\

Apparently, God did NOT reveal this to you.
---Cluny on 11/9/10

The "Bar Miswah", means, "Son of Commandment", a jewish tradition that acknowledges adolescent boys at 13 have come of age and are responsible for the commandments. And currently in the U.S. a person is considered an adult at the age of 18.

First question: How did God reveal to you that your son would be raptured as a boy?

Second question: Are you wondering when one is considered a man because your son is growing up and he still hasn't been raptured?
---Todd1 on 5/27/08

I feel that you do not live in the USA and English is second language. If your use of "us" was meant to reference the USA, the age would vary dependent upon usage. Voting at 18, 21 for full adult privileges but you can be tried as an adult for criminal offences at a lower age that varies with legal jurisdiction. I since that you are using "raptured" to mean death, people are not individually taken to heaven and in which case they are simply dead until the resurrection of the dead.
---Phil_the_Elder on 5/27/08

Well by Jewlish tradition 40, USA 18, that's quite a difference. In prophesy sometimes one just has to wait and see if it is true. I had a prophecy ,when he was small, that my grandson would be the president of the US when he grew up...that doesn't seem likely now he's in his 20s and not interested in politics. More important is how you and he are living now and God will take care of any rapture or resurrections in his own time.
---Virginia on 9/22/07

The U.S. states 18 years of age is acknowledged as being an adult, though from state-to-state it may vary and consider a lower age to be an adult. Personally I think some males mature at an early age and others at a later age depending on the individual's life. Some youths are forced to grow up fast, and others are sheltered and spoiled into never growing up.

Listen, with God anything is possible. Not everything about God is reveiled in the word of God. So, for the people who thinks they know everything, well you do not.

You know ,I can't resist the temptation to answer this question with..(at what age are you considered a man?)when you can sit on the toilet and say "oo that water's cold" Probably won't get published but I had to say it anyway!

When he no longer relies on a woman to be depandant, can take on his all of the roles/responsibilities, and prepares his whole household to meet Christ and is well able demonstrates his love for God/Christ/church through his family and transfer those skills to others in the same way.

The Israelites that sinned and were not allowed to enter the land - all their children from 20 on down were not held responsible for the parents actions.
13 - is when in Judaism your considered a man.
There is no definitive scriptures

There have been Kings in the old test who were very young (I believe the youngest was 8). But the Jews believed men became men at 40. However, I believe under the new covenant, we have an age of accountability which is reached when we possess certain knowledge/wisdome of the Lord. I guess this is somewhat different than the question, but a man of God could be very young or very old according to the knowledge of God in him. I depends on how much God has given him.
---jody_martin on 9/4/07

Cheryl-the statement in your question is very intriguing and exciting. One question I have is when did this happen and how old is the boy now. Also my understanding has always been that from 33 years down is a child. I have no concrete evidence of this thing in the case it is something that I have long believed.
---Mima on 9/4/07

**God revealed to me he would be raptured as a boy. **

We go thorough the Tribulation first.

There's no pre-trib rapture. If you think so, then God didn't reveal this to you. You were listening to an impostor.
---Jack on 9/4/07

**(I since that you are using "raptured" to mean death, people are not individually taken to heaven and in which case they are simply dead until the resurrection of the dead.**

This, of course, goes directy contrary to the word of Jesus Himself. He told the penitent thief, "This day you will be with Me in Paradise," and said, "Lazarus, come forth". There would have been no point in this last were there not some kind of consciousness that survives death.

I agree with Rebecca, there is no specific age. The Bible says that "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he"[Proverbs 23:7]. Whereas being male is a matter of birth, becoming a man is a matter of choice. Not every male will make this choice. That's why not everybody who grows old grows up. Some men will definitely die in their od age still as little children - and I can see even some of them on these Blogs!
---Jane on 9/4/07

According to the apostle Paul it was when he no longer needed the milk of the word but grew up to handle the meat, or deep spiritually discerned things bearing witness to Jesus and not the principles of baptism and the like that we should get beyond when we mature.
Frank
---Frank on 9/3/07

When one starts acting like one and takes on responsablity. I know of many men who need to grow up and act like a man instead of acting like a child all the time. In Genesis Joseph was called a child at age 16. Benjamin was called a child above 30 years old. Solomon called himself a child. It depends on the maturity of the person.
