you are not a sinner because you sin. you sin because you are a sinner! you were born in sin and will die a sinner! question is. Will you be a saved sinner or an unsaved sinner? there is none righteous no not one . all have sinned and come short of the glory of god... Jesus came to save sinners of who i am chief..
---jerry54 on 11/15/09

Thats actually kinda funny Mark, because Jesus Christ taught if you lust in your heart you have already sinned. Its the same as if you had done it. Guilty!

If I were a lost man I would hate Jesus CHrist, Im tellin ya. It is absolutely disgusting watching Christian people who are supposed to be LOVING one another judge one another according to how well they live their lives. Or make certain sins sound worse than others so they dont have to look at the severity of their OWN sin.

Its a sad day for Christianity

No sin shall enter...very true.
Think how men can be set free from sin.
The Cross of Christ is your answer.
HE came to take sin away.
---duane on 11/14/09

this i know the closer i walk with god the more grievous my sin is to me and the more i realize how precious the gift of his son was on my behalf.his death covered all my sin past present and future. this causes a love in my heart for the lost and blind.causing me to speak the good news. the only sin not forgiven is to die, rejecting the son of god, and denying the truth of his words.
---jerry54 on 11/13/09

This I know: The closer that you walk with God the more grievous your sins are to the living Lord. There are deadly sins. But, to get into heaven you must be forgiven of ALL YOUR SINS. In otherwords, there will be no unforgiven sins entering into the "Kingdom of God".

What Donna said.

James 2: 9-10 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Kinda takes the sword out of our hands and puts it right on our backside where it should be.

Hebrews is directed towards Jewish believers tryin to show them how the old covenant/testament (animal sacrifice) is faulty and replaced by the new covenant/testament (blood of Christ).

So if Jewish believers accept Jesus as their savior (accepting his blood on their behalf) and then turn from His blood back to the old ways of animal sacrifice they are in a sense saying the blood of Jesus that sanctified them wasnt holy and now they have done despite the Spirit of Grace (Hebrews 10:29)

Yeah I think saying the blood of Gods Son isnt as good as that of a goat would tend to tick Him off just a little.

This could also apply to those who try to add works to His blood. His blood isnt as good as what I have done. Bad idea!

An evil heart of unbelief is probably the most serious condition a person can could find themselves in. That is total spiritual bankruptcy from which all other sins thrive. Each person will be judged according to works. For Christians, it will mean to recieve rewards or loss of rewards. For a non-Christian, there will be different levels of punishment and certain eternal existence in Hell. For one who knows to "do good but does not do it, to him it is sin". Thanks be to Jesus Christ for His sacrifice or none of us would make it.

MarkV -- I totally agree. There is also Luk 12:48: But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is considered by God as the worst of Sins. Undeniably,"the wages of sin" (including unbelief) "IS death" .

We catagorize sins as "small" or "large", but, among the living, He assess sins more truly than we.
He may have infinite patience for some of those we condemn. Yet some of those approved by us, He may treat most severely. Man looks at the outside, but God looks at the heart.

Donna, I myself don't understand one punishment over another in Hell because Hell is Hell for those who go there. But, Scripture mentions a specific sin that certainly brings about a severer degree of punishment found in Heb. 10:29. "How much severer punishment, do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which He was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?"
What is he saying? All those who aren't saved go to hell. All those who do not come to God through Jesus Christ will go to hell. But, the hottest hell and the severest punishment is reserved for those who knew, the most fully,
---MarkV. on 10/30/09

Donna 2 continue: the gospel and trampled on it. If a person rejects God, never hears the gospel, doesn't live up to the light they have, is indicted on the basis of Romans chapter 1, they will suffer punishment. But it won't be like the punishment of one who has come to understand the gospel, come to understand what Christ did, who He was and is, fully understand that and trample Him under his feet. That person will suffer the greater punishment.
Another reason why there is degrees of punishment I believe is that when we entertain a thought of sin briefly, we sin, but if we allow that thought to become a deed, we sin even worse. God would want us to stop with the thought and not do the deed.
---MarkV. on 10/30/09

All sins, no matter what kind it is, will condemn a soul to hell. For a little leaven will leaven the whole lump. lit.Gk: "Indeed anyone who keeps the whole law, though falls at one, this person has become totally guilty." James 2:10. Christ is coming for a church without spot or wrinkle, he is not coming for a church with little spots nor little wrinkles. God is holy and he will not permit any sin whatsoever, a little sin is equally offensive to him as a big sin is offensive to him. Therefore if anyone has unrepented sin, this one will be condemned. Jesus commands us to be holy, for he is holy. He says: either make the tree good, or else make the tree rotten, for the tree is known by the fruit it bears what kind of tree a person is.
---Eloy on 10/30/09

bob explained it pretty well
the pharisees are the perfect example of ultimate sin
they saw the power of god yet blasphemed him, murdered, and devised wicked plans
the pharoah was another example, as was nimrod, which goes back to the original sin spawned by satan who magnifies himself above everyone and everything, generally the least common sins are the worst, if they were common the world would have been destroyed long ago
---glen on 10/29/09

Nathan, if anything, I think Matt 11:22+24 indicates that the "gravity" of a sin is not as it may seem to men. The cities of
Sodom and Gohmorrah were guilty of shocking, horrifying sin, the worst kind imaginable to those who heard Jesus. Yet he says "... That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee." Why? Because they had seen and heard Jesus, but did not believe Him.

Makes me realize that God does not judge actions the way we do. No sin is a "little" or "minor" sin as compared to others.

Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.
---Bob on 10/29/09

all sins are not the same and is made clear in the bible
the wicked will be judged and punished according to they're works as stated in scripture
the greatest sins involve pride because these are the type that most cause people to reject god, and involve lack of empathy, which is the opposite of love
a sexually immoral person can be capable of empathy and humility, but a sociopath who only cares about money and worships themselves is more abominable in the eyes of god, and the devil is the perfect example of this, along with the future antichrist

Two biblical truths.
1) there are sins which mandated death, by God, in the old covenant, and many which did not.
2) The new covenant identifies three types of " falling short".
Trespasses.. Heart issues, which have not offended another Require private repentance.

Offenses, heart isssus, which have offended another, Go to them one on one, seeking the offenders restoration to Christ, through repentance.

Sins, such as listed in 1 Corinthians 6. They require public rebuke before all, because those literal sins, destroy all spiritual intimacy with God. This is why Paul said to rebuke before all ( those who sin) so that all may fear separation from God

Jackies' post is old (2007) but I like the fact that she quoted the whole of Gal 5:19-21. Most people seem to skim over sins such as... "hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy...."

Typically those who quote this emphasize, or mention, only the sins of "sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery, idolatry and witchcraft"... which they are confident they do NOT commit! The other sins,
um, lets not discuss those.

Sin Is sin no matter. You telling a fib, a white & or even a black lie, stealing work time from your boss, on & on etc. Sin is sin.
---Lawrence on 8/24/09

some of this stuff is un biblical
not all the sins are the some rape does not equal stealing. although all sins have the same consequence that is all sins lead to death. agree? but read Mathew 11:22 this comes from jesus own mouth. if you think all sin is the same you should be sooo incredibly guilty of that time you stole or lied or did not love someone that it was like rape. which is stupid not saying you have to be guilty.

1 John 5:16-17

16If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death(spiritual), he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

17All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

God does not grade sin on a curve, but they are graded on the cross.

Yes except for blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is considered by God as the Unpardonable Sin which means that He does not forgive it. All others may be forgiven and be repented of.

Look at the category of sinners God's word says will not go to heaven:
"The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery, idolatry and witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy, drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God" - Galatians 5:19-21, NIV.
---Jackie on 9/7/07

According to scripture:
Pro 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
Pro 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Pro 6:18 A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
Pro 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
---Gena on 9/7/07

Yes, God hates all sin. But Please read 1 John 5:16-17. John distinguishes between two types of sin. All I see on this blog is people's biased opinions.

The Apostle John wrote, "If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death, I do not say that one should pray for that." (1 John 5:16)

No, they no such thing as "Good sin" :)

A sin is a sin no matter how small or big.It is the same to God, however if you truly repent of it he will forgive.
---candice on 9/6/07

Absolutely. God does not grade sin on a scale of 1-10. They are all 10.
---denna7667 on 9/6/07

According to John, there are sins that kill and sins that do not kill - speaking of sins that damn one to hell (kill) and those that do not - so there are some differences. But a single sin (any sin) can keep you from heaven as nothing impure may enter there.

God hates all sin, but there are worse sins, and one sin that is unforgivable. Matthew 12:31-32.
---lorra8574 on 9/6/07

There is no "Mother" sin in God's eyes. Sin is sin. But there is the unforgivable sin, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. There is also the sin unto death that Ananias and Sapphira commited. You can read about that in the book of Acts chap. 5:1-11.

I'm not fully understanding. Are you saying that telling a lie is the same sin and viciously murdering a child?
---Annie on 9/6/07

Ok, but why don't those all seem the same to us? Why do some seem alot worse to us than others? How can they all be the SAME to Him?
---April on 9/6/07

Murder, rape, lieing, stealing, its all the same to Him.
