Amen Catherine, it may be a tall order, but there is total spiritual truth in what the Spirit of God is speaking through you. You are very mature in the word of God. Thank you for your spiritual insights. God Bless!

We stay humble by totally depending on God for His power, His strength and His words. True humility is total dependence on God. A mature Christian is one who is poised, attractive, loves people, Puts others second, God first, and herself last. Does not mean, you let yourself go, but always mindful. God always first. In thoughts, words, and deeds. Tall order isn't it?

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Phil 2:1-4

I don't know many humble people.

As soon as I get - its gone.

But there are things to do before God does them for you
1) appreciate others
2) seek advice and take it
3) look for really good things about your enemies and then tell them
4) shut up!
5) listen
6) think about yourself in comparison to Christ then think about how He sees you

be blessed and have a humble day

That is a great Scripture tom2! A man must make himself humble, why
should he be any other way? Isn't it true that the Lord giveth and he also
taketh away? He giveth, but it is we that administer and if we be bad
administrators, God himself will "pluck" us out of his presence.

God gives assurance for eternity and he also takes it away. II Chronicles
7: 14: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves,
and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I
hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15: Now
mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place."

16: "For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be
there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually." "Perpetually"! That is forever, Amen. Only a proud man or a fool will think
that the Lord does not expect anything in return for such gift.

II Chronicles 7:19: "But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other
gods, and worship them, 20: Then will I pluck them up by the roots out
of my land which I have given them, and this house, which I have
sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a
proverb and a byword among all nations."

Pride:
Job 40:10: "Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency, and array
thyself with glory and beauty. 11: Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and
behold every one that is proud, and abase him. 12: Look on every one that
is proud, and bring him low, and tread down the wicked in their place. 13:
Hide them in the dust together, and bind their faces in secret. 14: Then will
I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee."

Matthew 11:29: "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek
and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." I Peter 5:5:
"Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be
subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the
proud, and giveth grace to the humble."
---Nana on 9/17/07

Matthew 23:12: "And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased, and he
that shall humble himself shall be exalted." Philippians 2:8: "And being found
in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death,
even the death of the cross."

Be submissive. If you don't stay humble, the power from the Holy Spirit will soon be gone because God withdraws from the proud and gives favour to the humble, according to 1Peter5:5.

I have been afflicted by Satan since I have been saved. I am not as strong physically.I must use a walking cane. I will not go into details. I will say this, God told me one night, not to let Satan get away with what he has done to me. I stay strong because I have developed humility. I need God more than ever. I must stay in prayer.

The more you spend time in the Word, and seek the Lord's power in your life, the more humility you attain. "Of myself, I am nothing, the Lord does the work." Seek the Lord.

Technically, Cynthia, I think the power of the Holy Spirit is humble, so you can't do something in His power and not be humble, at the same time. His power makes us humble, because He is humble > Jesus says He is "lowly in heart", in Matthew 11:29. In His power, we won't "stay" humble, in some set way we ourselves can know and choose, but keep discovering and learning more about how it is to be humble...like Jesus is.

For me personally, being humble involves loving all people...never welcoming an excuse to look down on anyone, including those pedophile priests and family members who have treated me like I'm...psychologically and socially inferior > but humble loving means having hope for every person, in caring prayer for all...instead of being conceited and wanting to be the judge and doctrinal expert with status, like Mima is saying.
---Bill_bila5659 on 9/16/07

And I need to be moral in my feelings and mind, or I can't feel being family with Christians. I can't feel family love as brother with brother and brother with sister, while I am involved in using women for sexual pleasure...not even just in feelings and fantasizing. Humble includes not just USING any person, but caring personally about every one.

Many things are gifts from God. Even humility can be a gift(I think). As we mature in Christ we realize just how awesome the Lord is and how small and dependent we are. That keeps me humble. I believe that it is true that His strength is made perfect in our weakness so that for Him to work through us we must be of a humble spirit.Pray for humility. Those who tell you that they are working with the power of the Holy Spirit and are arrogant and proud, are working by some other spirit. God hates pride.
---jody_martin on 9/16/07

Humility is a state of mind. As long as I recognize that the power is of God and not of myself, I will decrease as the Spirit within me increase. The humble minded man will be exalted, just as the arrogantly proud will be abased. I chose to focus on the needs of others before considering my own, thinking more highly of them than myself. As a result I find that self seeking pride finds no place within me. I realize of myself I can do nothing, yet know i can to all things though Christ. That is humbling.

# 1-This is an excellent question and those with the power of the Holy Spirit will recognize it as such. The gifts and power of the spirit are so great and so strong and my flesh is so weak that I do a terrible terrible job of staying humble. I find myself being haughty, proud, openly defiant of those with less knowledge and all this keeps me weeping in my spirit over how ridiculous I act. Continued----

# 2-of the people I know who have the Holy Spirit working in and with them only one is anywhere near being humble. Many times spirit indwelt people tell you they want to share something with you when in reality they do not want to share they want boast of how the spirit has used them to accomplish something. Failure to recognize that my flesh is made of dust causes self limitations of what I could accomplish if I were humble!!

You must first and foremost know and realize the power is not being done by you but through you. If you don't understand that concept you will always struggle with fleshly pride.

Because without GOD, you are nothing. It is the Lord that givith, and the Lord that taketh away. PRIDE is the very reason Lucifer was kicked out of Heaven by God. And trust me when I tell you GOD STOPPED LOVING HIM. At the very moment a man begins to get proud, that is the moment the Holy Spirit will leave. The Bible says, MY SPIRIT WILL NOT ALWAYS STRIVE WITH A MAN. Always remember you are one breath away from death, that ought to keep one humble.
