This blog reminds me of Acts 17:10 & 11. The Christians in Berea were more noble than those in Thessalonica because they searched the scriptures daily.

I want to be more noble, don't you?

Any yes Cynthia, I use every tool I can get my hands on. I may refer to several different commentaries. I consider each of the writers to be friends and I'm just asking their opinion.

I also believe what Michelle said. The best source for the truth is the bible.

Bible dictionaries, etc. can be very helpful.

Scripture interprets Scripture.

After 20 years, I prefer the Word over other written material about the Word. I gave most of my Christian books away. I found so many mixed views and opinions. No other book can renew your mind like the Word. It is alive.

I think we can compare what daily bible study is for the spirit, to what daily food is for the body! We need daily nourishment in both cases. Yes, I think there are many tools that enhance our study of the Bible. Just remember that the Bible is the final authority!

Yes I feel that daily Bible study is very important. I feel that a concordance and commentary are indispensible. Dictionaries are good too. You may not use them everyday but they are things you will you use several times a month.

Robin, no offense taken, and may God bless you. Thank you for your insight!

I did not mean to offend by saying this was a silly question. I just could not imagine that any Christian would think Bible study was not important.

Cynthia this was not a silly question at all. There could be many using Christianet who do very little bible study and are not aware that these helps exist. Robin, I thought this website was meant for us to help each other. There is no compulsion to answer every question, especially when one displeases you.

Donna, amen yes I totally agree with you. We need to feed the inner spirit man daily and the word of God will give you Peace and teach you , mold you and shape you to be more Christ like. I do not know about you Donna, but sometimes I just have a spiritual hunger and the more I read and study and memorize as you said then the more content I become IN CHRIST.

Cynthia, it is extremely important to study your bible daily. Memorize scriptures like Psalm 103, Psalm 91, Psalm 23. Ask Father God for revelation knowledge when you are in His word. I use Bible Knowledge Commentary and got set free when I read about the deep truths of Rebekah and Jacob and Joseph in the bible. I also buy teaching tapes that I trust the anointing on certain teachers of the word. Feed yourself daily with the word, prayer, teaching tapes, commentaries, get as much as you can in there.

Robin, I do not think this is a silly question as you put it. And yes The Love of my life which is Jesus Christ is the first thing on my mind when I wake up, as well as when I go to sleep. But I would ask you, if you thought this question was so silly, then why did you bother to answer it? God Bless!

Let me enlightened you: To really understand and grasp the word of God, Bible tools are an absolute necessesity. Besides all of that, there is another reason to use them, The Devil hates them. He loves ignorance.

Daily bible study is important and all these things can help. I also find that reading Christian books helps, providing that when the author quotes scripture you look it up and understand it in context. This way your knowledge of the bible improves and you learn to apply it to your daily life.

Silly question. That's like asking how important is is for me to spend time with the one I love.
Daily Bibly study is essential to me!
Have you ever woke up with the Lord on your mind? if not, then you most likely didn't spend time in His word the day before.
Try it, turn off the TV and delve into the Word. What a difference it makes in your walk with the Lord.
