This a spirit that is tormenting you . Ask Jesus to deliver you He said he would not put on us any more Than we can bear plead the blood of Jesus that spirit can not come against the blood

Andrea, you are on the target! Christians are the ones who are found suffering, and have no idea how to get rid of these tormenting spirits, often, and do not have any idea that it was even a spiritual problem in the first place, many do not want to even have an awareness. Sometimes people tell me that they even fall asleep the moment they pick up a Bible isn't it strange? they do not recognize this as an attack from the enemy?

Mary - thank you -

whisper - I get D Prince's newsletter and have some of his books. I've also been in deliverance ministries and prayer walk areas to remove any curses etc.

I am involved in "healing rooms" where we do spiritual warfare for individuals along with hands on prayer.
I am still very quick to advise people to get counseling. It is one of many ways God uses for our healing. Why would we limit God?

I advise people to take advantage of 12-step programs. When in the world we need to be ever aware that we take Christ with us and use His power for our healing as well as for those seeking healing.
Hurting people don't usually walk in church saying help me. We need to go get them and God may answer their prayer by sending us in to the fray.

This idea is unpopular with Christians. There are 12-step programs for emotional healing too. We need to look at it as a evangelism opportunity.

"Confess your trespasses to one another,
and pray for one another, that you may be healed.
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." (James 5:16)

You have confessed to me, and I can pray for you to be "healed", and you can pray for me to get "healed" about what I have confessed. Seeking pleasure can help to keep us weak so we can give in to tormenting things. God's love cures us, better and better (o:

I am in total agreement with you Catherine. As I beleive that any thing that takes us away from peace, and holiness has its origen in Satan, and the demonic realm. I am reading a book by Derek Prince now, who says demons torture and cause mental torment. This comes from "unforgiveness" part one
---Whisper on 9/29/07

He speaks of Matthew 18:34, then goes on the say the torturers, he beleives are demons. He encountered hundreds of Christians who were in the hands of the torturers for one simple rason, unforgiveness. They claim they have been forgiven by God yet go on to refuse to forgive another person for the same offense, real and imagined. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Matt 6:14-15

We each can be tortured mentally. This is cause by the devil or demons. For me it is the desire to be with other men. The thought tortures me all the time. I pray alot and try to think about women, this helps sometimes. But it is mental torture. I am hoping that with enough prayer I can drive out the demons or stop the thoughts the devil puts in my head.

Hi Andrea, amen, girl! :) You've been the most helpful person (in my opinion) on this blog! Excellent advice you gave. :)
---Mary on 9/28/07

catherine unfortunately, people don't take a poll to determine their mental health. I pray you never suffer with it.

I just do not believe people can have mental torment unless it is induced by Satan.
---catherine on 9/28/07

Mental torment can be because I have more blessings than I know how to handle. Like three ladies I like on the Internet...I can feel what seems like Jesus' honey with each...what do I do? Indecision about very good things can be a form of torment (o:
---Bill_bila5659 on 9/28/07

Being tortured mentally is a form of verbal direct or indirect abuse, from someone and is always conducted by a person/s that at that stage in their life is detatched from salvation/God/Christ/Holy Spirit.
---Carla5754 on 9/28/07

when some one has hurt you if you have no self esteem you go away and hurt then you think of all the things you should have said. Then someone said its okay for the person who hurts you they can ask you to forgive them in a authoritive way and then leave you tormented by not talking about it Their free and your left with this tormenting feeling of being stuffed without an expalnation or clarification but you love someone you will restore them properly by explain yourself apologising for what you did
---Carla5754 on 9/28/07

You know that statement, well Im sorry if I hurt you and if you don't forgive me then thats up to you, but I forgive you. When you did nothing to warrant the situation and was totally inadversely being attacked. It's awful because you do build up resentment because you didn't say your peace or you were not even allowed because the person is on the defence and only wants their side heard. Awful as it is happends it's fact.

Any time a person can not function in their daily life due to invasive or constant thoughts. This could be excessive worry or compulsive thoughts about germs or death etc.
People under great stresses even as a result of normal life happenings (ie: death or illness of a loved one) can be tormented.
This may result in depression and or eventually result in a full blown mental disorder.

If your being tormented there are mediactions, therapies, counselors that may help.

Frank - Do not persist with this any more then you would allow a physical pain to go unattended for too long.

please do not be afraid of seeing a pastor for guidance - quality of your emotional life is as important as important as your physical body.

be blessed in His presence

It is a major amount of agony in my mind concerning something I am worried about and feel powerless...the "victim" sort of torment. Also, it can be aggressive...getting nasty and raging and violent and vengeful against someone who has done something to me or did not do what I please and my way. And there's just crazy, with no identifiable reason for one's suffering, maybe the "habit" you can get into if you don't deal with the earlier stages.

It is being tortured by cruel feelings and thoughts which dominate us, so it is tyrannical, and therefore the tyrant Satan manhandling us so he can keep us weak enough to use us...keeping our attention away from God, having us seek pleasures and relief and security to make us just FEEL good. So, the bad news is it's the devil messing. But the good news, then, is we don't have to put ourselves at the mercy of humans and THEIR ability to help and cure us (o:

It is fragmented thoughts, dreams, sounds and visions of an evil nature as well as complete senarios of evil conspircies against them by government, people. God, or Satan. which is frightening to the indivdual who is experiencing it. It is also out of that persons control which is what characterizes it as torment.:) Doctors medicate these people after labeling them as Schitzophrenic or psychotic but this does not help much in sever cases.

It is when Satan it seems is trying to knock your brains to kingdom come. Oh but God, go to Him, He helps. Clear your head up and once again SANITY.
---catherine on 9/27/07

Mental torment is evil, ungodly thoughts attacking the mind, and also mental agony and torture. Mental torment does not come from God. It comes from the devil, who attacks the mind of a believer in Christ. And as a child of God when thoughts come into my mind that I know did not come from God, I give these thoughts to Jesus for obedience. Keep your mind on things above, and keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

Mental torment to me is a mind full of thoughts that aren't of God, having nothing to do with Jesus and His work and the outflow of that.
