Greetings Mr. Graham. I would recommend Voice of the Martys. I would actually classify it more of a ministry, but what they do is help persecuted believers that are being tortured and many times jailed for their faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. They have a prison alert that involves us sending letters of encouragement to our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ. Also feed the children is a charity that you may want to find out more information about. God bless!

Mr. Graham, I have felt the same way as you. So research ministries, if you don't like what you see, start one. Give locally. There are those in need wherever you go. I'm sure your church could point you in the right direction. And it's not always money that is needed. Some just need someone to talk to, or someone to teach them a new skill.

Mr_Graham: If you are concerned as a lot of us are. Do the distribution yourself. Begin with your own country. There are people literally in your backyard who needs help. That includes food, clothing everything.Every little bit helps. The larger organizations can reach more people but God does not look down on the small things that are done in His name.Or give and not worry about what the organizations do with the donations. Once you do your part,God will bless you for what you have done.

Compassion is excellent. I know they are in Canada, but don't know about the States. They operate in all the poorest of the very poor countries and cities in the world, providing food, clothing and education to the little children.

The only organization we will donate to that is doing the food ministry is Feed the Children. They do not charge for any food that is given out and they do not charge for food that food pantries obtain from them. The founder, Larry Jones, has an excellent reputation and was chosen to oversee the assistance to the needy at the time of the bombing in Oklahoma City.

I want to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and provide shelter all around the world. What I don't want to do is make greedy people rich from donations. If a majority of the donations are getting to the source and the organizational workers make a fair salary, then I'm more than willing to give freely. I have yet to find such.

There is a prison ministry with a success rate of about 97% of their graduates never returning to prison. The name of this ministry is "Sure Word". They have a unique mail correspondents course made up of 42 lessons. I have worked with many of their graduates and I can attest to their marvelous work. Teen Challenge cannot hold a light to this ministry.

If you are looking for an excellent tool to evaluate Christian charities and mission programs I would recommend you look them up in Ministry Watch. They have tracking data on over 500 various ministries and Christian charities about ownership/affiliation, transparency. Length of time in existence and effectively [overhead to program benefit]. If you charity is not there, I would not recommend funding it.
