Will Good People Go To Heaven
I know a man who is not too bad a guy, he has never killed anyone, also he does believe in God and he prays many times a day. Also he was born in America and considers himself a Christian. Will the above attributes be enough for him to enter heaven?

It's not for mortals to ask such questions / make such judgements. We must follow God's commands of: Love God and neighbour, and leave all these other big issues to God alone.

Mima)You know better. When you say that he consider"himself a Christian" that puts the matter between him and God. The question remains:is he saved? Does he know Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and savior along with the rest of the senerio? If he can answer"yes" then he is on his way to heaven. If the answer is "no" then he better meet Jesus.:)

Blessings Mima, I cannot say whether this man will go to Heaven or not, but I do know that there is only one way to enter Heaven. Jesus tells us that NO ONE goes to the Father but by me. I do not know the condition of this man's heart. It is between God and him because God sees the heart of us all. Being a good person does not get you in Heaven. God Bless!

No, No, No, No No. You didn't mention those wonderful words "Born again".

We believe because we have faith.
Phil. 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Faith is a FRUIT of the Spirit of God (Gal 5:22). Until the Spirit works we cannot bear fruit.
I believe with all that is within me that we are SAVED BY GRACE (Eph. 2:8 & 9).
By the way, I hope you have a safe trip to Mexico.

Only three kinds of people enter heaven: the righteous by nature who never heard the gospel, the born-again Christian, and the backslider who repented or returned to the Lord.

Jesus told Nicademus that you must be born-again to enter the kingdom of heaven. Being a good person will never, ever be enough. There are "good" atheist in the world, but they do not believe in any god. Sadly, too many people think because they have a good heart and we have a forgiving God, that they will enter into heaven, but unless you are born again, you will live eternally in hell.

I've heard of a man that was a murderer. He held the coats of several men as they stoned a Christian to death. This man persecuted the true church, and put men in prision for worshiping Christ.
Later, the Lord told one of his followers to go to the above mentioned man, and stated "for, behold, he prayeth." As you know the murderer was the Apostle Paul(Acts 8). Paul praying is a sign that he had been born again.

Leon, yes, he will have "supporting" Scripture but it is indeed twisted steel.

Phil: Are you saying if Phil wasn't chosen in eternity by God to be saved then Phil hasn't a snow balls chance of being saved & thereby is eternally lost?
Certainly, salvation is by God's grace & there's nothing we can do to deserve it. However, I hear you saying even if one believes on Jesus as Savior, Lord, the Son of God, he/she won't be saved unless God has previously & arbitrarily chosen him/her? Do you have supporting Scripture?

Mima, I'm fairly certain you already know the answer to this question, but, for the sake of discussion, I'll state that the answer is NO. Unless this (or any) person receives Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, they will never enter into Heaven. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh to the Father but by me."

First of all, it doesn't matter how good a person is or how good they treat others or if they were born in America, without the blood of Jesus Christ, they will die lost and on their way to hell. If the blood has not been applied to this man, he can pray all he wants and God won't answer his prayers unless, he is asking for forgiveness.

In God's eyes there are only two kinds of people, the saved and the unsaved. Only those who are saved i.e. born-again will enter into Heaven.

It is not GOOD people who go to Heaven it is SAVED people. The two are not necessarily the same.

I would say that there is *****one mediator between God and man and that is Christ Jesus***** This person can have *****a form of Godliness, but deny the power thereof**** and continue in sin****I would like it to be enough, However it is not enough according to God. Many normal and good people are in hades even now.

God and God alone choses who is destined for salvation. The choice is His, there is nothing you can do to deserve it. There is no action you can take to change your status since that selection was made prior to your conception and birth. We don't know who God has selected that is His business not ours.

If we could be good enough Jesus Christ died for nothing. We are all sinners and it matters little if you drown in a pool of sin 1 inch from shore or 100 feet from shore your just as dead.
We all need the lifeline of Jesus.
How Jesus deals with those that never had an opportunity to recieve Him but would have (only He knows) but as far as the ones that had the opportunity. I tell them they are without excuse bc God has spoken to us all.

No u can't get to heaven on good works Only by accepting Jesus Christ as ur personal savor can get u into heaven. Luke 18:19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
