I can't believe I've just read this.....
"Something could be planned for the adults and kids at the church for Halloween. Make it a family affair. Show a good movie, have treats and snacks, games for everyone along with prayer and lots of fun. Are you 'throwing in' the prayer to give it the 'church atmosphere' or will this be achieved by watching a film, snacking and playing games? Is this what the modern church has sunk to?

Each church is different. If the pastor feels services should be cancelled then I feel it would be ok. Better yet. Something could be planned for the adults and kids at the church for Halloween. Make it a family affair. Show a good movie, have treats and snacks, games for everyone along with prayer and lots of fun. That would be safe and something for everyone to do in a church atmosphere.

Our church has cut Bible study that night just because they have two main ministries going that will take most of the people out of Bible study- a kids fall festival and a teenage outreach called Hellhouse which involves lots of workers in the church. I don't think the pastor feels the least bit guilty if it gets a kid to come to church on a regular basis who brings his whole family, who later on gets saved. Get over your legalism and look at the father's heart- the lost.

No. Church should go on, regardless what goes on outside of the church. I plan on taking my kids out to trick-or-treating that night. And yes people, I'll be missing church, because I love having fun and I love spending time with my kids. I'm not dead yet, and I refuse to act like a dried up old prune. This is one night my kids and I get to act crazy and silly. This is one night I can be one of the kids, while my husband drives us to house to house. So this decision is between me and God alone.

correction they should do the bible study and cut the study in half or have bible study at an earlier time. Sorry for that typo.

No a church shouldn't cancel because of halloween, if they want to do trick or treating then they can have services earlier or cut bible study for it. Im not going to judge anybody handing out candy if they choose too, but God should come first always.

No. Infact you should avoid halloween if you are a true christian, if your church has biblestudy then go. I donot care how people cover up halloween to make it christian, God hates it, & doesn't approve of peoples action whom keep it & don't follow his word.

Trick-or-Treat Church? That's new one on me. Of course, there are lots of churches today that are Trick-or-Treat every service. Our church is going to have the same service as always--good old, fashioned pentecostal preaching and singing.

Your church sounds like a "weakling" of an example. In fact they should just shut down entirely, while they have been trying to PLAY CHURCH instead of BEING CHURCH. If the salt have lost his savour wherewith shall it be salted. Your church sounds like they have bowed to evil, and have let darkness win, while they were suppose to be the light in the darkness. Tell them from me, that their light has gone out and no longer shines.
